Special thanks to @antoniopivaldi8785 for pointing out that if you hit the "Add to My Library" button on the megascans asset in the fab browser, it should show up when you go to My Library. It's an extra step unfortunately, but a solid workaround for now.
OMG THANK YOU the minute this launched I've been looking for videos that were helpful and its been tough. I love the IDEA behind fab but the way they rolled it out was a nightmare. I could not find any way to add any of the new quixel content that I got. Even downloading the FBX files were super disorganized...
I noticed the 3D previews of the birch log did not display on your machine either. I'm glad because I was worried it might just br me! Thsanks for this video. I had no idea the plugin was available. Now I have it installed and I look forward to exploring it all (and to Epic fixing those 3D previews!)
Fab said that they working on adding all claimed megascans to your library, for now it’s not appears in there until you press “add to my library” button. Also they changed ORD textures to ORM textures, what’s really disturbing decision.. so yes materials can looks different.
That's good to know about the "Add to My Library button! Yeah, while ORM is the industry standard, the problem I have always had with it is that a metalness mask is useless a lot of the time. Working on a huge open world game right now with thousands of textures and so many of them don't utilize that blue metalness channel. The good thing with this is that at least Megascans are utilizing metalness now. I haven't had a chance to investigate the new master materials yet, but I have my suspicions and yes the metalness is on my list of wonders.
So if the packed textures are ORM now instead of ORD, do they give us a separate displacement texture? I didn’t see one in your folder for that material
also quick note: If your Fab doesn't automatically open like it did for him. Click your content browser and on the top left next to "Add" you'll see a "Fab" button. Click that and it will open the plugin. If that is not on there go back and make sure you install the plugin to the right Unreal Engine Version. Hope this helps !
hey, nice video, and get better soon! I think they mentioned, that integrating the other platforms would take a few more months at least... well into 2025... so it should come over
The plug-in does not work for me. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, updating to 5.5, and when I try to use it, the first page displays. But if I try to search for anything or click on anything, the pages just never load or display.
I can't export any twinmotion 2024 projects to unreal 5.4. For me, only the datasmith twinmotion plugin appears and the twinmotion content plugin does not appear for me. What do I do?
This is actually a huge deal that nobody is really talking about yet. We know how Fab affects users (so far it's not in a good way). But how is it affecting marketplace sellers? Do the users hate the new platform so much that they have stopped buying? I sell a Megascan Environment Challenge course myself (not on Fab, but on my own site) and I know my sales TANKED the day Fab was announced and haven't really picked back up.
The orm is a good thing but remove the displacement texture kill the quality of any scans materials and objects since the fab launch close up texture are flat and ugly and on some zip fil there is no displacement map either hope they will find a solution soon bcs bridge was usefull for high quality assets

@@martinsalinas6731 maybe, though I think fewer assets is a temporary thing whereas making a Darth Vader level of change to the deal and threat to pray they don't change it further eroded trust where this just inconveniences us. Turns out the Fab plugin works fine, you can get all of the Quixel megascans with the click of a button on Fab on any megascan asset, and most of the old stuff has been migrated over. Almost all. Plus some other stuff that was previously only available for Unity but we're already just FBX files so they instantly work with UE now. It's not terrible. Just annoying. Unity was ACTUALLY terrible, and will be untrustworthy for years.
once you add at least one of the Quixel items in your library just hover over the thumbnail and when you see the Q logo in the upper left side of the thumbnail click on it, that should take you to all the assets you have. Add at least one for now to your library, UE said they are going to fix this but who knows when. I just wish they did not release this as they did. Also Many many free assets are gone and I did not hear if they are going to put them back or not.
???? - If you have selected a Quixel asset in FAB and click on it, you can add it to your library on the right. You can also set the quality of how it is added to your project. See 4:15 in your video!
Just a sidenote.. If its in the comments already apologies. It wouldnt show up for me i couldnt figure it out. Finally i went to CATEGORIES select ALL or Tools then searched fab or it should pop up... YES Im a NOOB I know but incase anyone else is doing what i was... AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS!
5.4.4 it was already installed for me.. It only gave me the option 5.3 when I looked to install it from my vault. So, I went into a 5.4 project then plugins - it was already installed. Hope that helps.
OMG how much drive space you have 😂 i see you keep all Unreal version installed ...me with only the last 2 versions on 2TB space amd always im out of space 😂😂😂

Yeah, still a ton of bugs in this early release unfortunately. Hoping they get them worked out with haste.

I think they shouldnt have released Fab if it's not ready. And it's not ready at all, it has a lot of bugs and issues

Not seeing any of my assets displayed that I owe in my library in FAB and am logged in on the same login.
You cant anymore. Use quixel bridge it says see on fab. Theres no download or add button

What about blend materials, there was a button for create blend material on bridge from megascans, now I cant find it anywhere
before I update the launcher , I could install fab and after update don't find any way to reinstall nor do I find the plugin in my vault cache

Even with a fresh install of game launcher, a refresh of the Fab Library, I still don't see the Fab Plugin :(. Don't know what to do now....
So are we no longer getting free for the month assets with FAB?
If you click on the Quixel logo / tag, you will see all of the quixel assets, there is no defined category for Quixel yet. Hope it helps!

Yeah, same. Mine is just saying to get it on Fab and links me there. The old download button was replaced with a new Fab button.
Moreover, they didn't migrate every asset... a decent amount is now gone😤

the only option for me is to install fab for 5.3....no options for 5.4 like in the vid.....
