  • The 3 timba grooves in this lesson are funky and a bit different than the normal timba grooves. I make a combination with a drum and bass groove, so you can hear how the congas fit in. Enjoy it!

    Michael - as usual a great, very clear lesson. I hate to complain, but I am really missing having the notation available on the side of the screen, it makes it a lot easier to follow. Thanks for all your work!

    Man this guy just doesn't stop amazing me! I'm from USA, Hispanic, Cuban & Puerto Rican Parents. I've been in music all my life and this Musician is extraordinary! Their hasn't been one of his videos that he hasn't been right on the money! It's obvious he's very well cultured and versed and a true Conguero. Not like other guys, "Anglos on U Tube", than can play pretty good and actually insult, mis pronounce, Cuban, Musician's, names to the extent of actually having many racial law suits.

    great tutorial Michael!
    i found in the 2nd rhythm, that if you start in the 2nd note as "the one", an interesting "samba" feeling rhythm appears...
    cheers,

    Thank you for your comment! Perhaps I'll try to put the camera in a different position, so it becomes more to follow what I do. I have to experiment with this. Thanks!

    Can you tell me Michael, is 'Salidor' the name of the low drum, or the name of the low part of the rhythm...or both?

    • @MichaeldeMiranda
      @MichaeldeMiranda  10 років тому

      The Salidor is the name of the low drum (in rumba). They also call it tumba.

    isn't the second sxample actually a brazilian "partido-alto"?

  • @estanochebien
    @estanochebien 7 років тому +1

    Nice, what I take away from this is that the bass no longer anticipates the one as in your typical salsa groove. Would that be correct?

  • @MichaeldeMiranda
    @MichaeldeMiranda  11 років тому

    Actually, I don't really know what the essence of bongo playing in Bachata is. But I'll ask a friend of mine, who is a great bongocero. Perhaps he knows how to do it.
