  • Rumba Yambú is the slowest of Cuban rumbas, but it is very nice to play! They say Yambú is for old people. I hope you will enjoy this lesson!

    Génial ! Votre enseignement est magistral ! Je joue du sax et ces rythmes difficiles (guaguanco, cumbia, yambú) me sont un peu plus accessibles grâce à vous. Merci et chapeau bas !

    The clave pattern and catá patterns that you use I know as Matanzas Style... In Havana the Yambú usually uses Clave de Son and Regular Cáscara pattern in my experience. Thanks for these great videos Michael!

    You are right! The big difference is in the dancing and also in the lyrics. The percussion part is just slower then guaguancó. In Matanzas it is the same, also a slow version of the guaguancó.

    Very good lesson! It seems to me that the yambu is extremely similar to the guaguanco, then? For example, the tres golpes part you show is the same as guaguanco, just played a little slower, and the clave is a little different, but still contains the rumba clave within its form.

    Michael do you know where I can buy a Cuban bamboo gua-gua. I live in the USA so I can't buy it directly from Cuba. You have done a lot of videos for me under my Yourba name Oba Segun for some reason UA-cam doesn't list that name anymore. Anyway Thanks for the great videos.

    Are there versions of Rumba that start on the 3? Seems like certain videos I've watched have the two last beats coinsidding with the last two notes in clave instead of having the two clave beats come after as in this post. Is what I'm thinking reverse clave?

    • @MichaeldeMiranda
      @MichaeldeMiranda  6 років тому +2

      Hello Peter, I don't know exactly what you mean, but I explain the traditional Cuban way of playing rumba. Of course there are groups that play the melody the other way around in the clave, but that is not Cuban...

    • @garman1966
      @garman1966 6 років тому +1

      Ok thank you! That makes sense as these guys I'm watching don't look Cuban. You are a really awesome teacher by the way. Thank you!
