Practice practice and then practice some more. Study Bridgman for the figure, Loomis for the head and copy everything you like. Draw everyday. Rinse, repeat and wait a couple of years and that’s about all it takes.

I found the best way to make art friends is to ask about painting or drawing classes at your local art supply store. They are usually a bit more expensive, but your local art supply shop is one of the best places to network and meet people.

Can’t believe Ryan doesn’t have more Subs. No fault of his own he is a great teacher and artist. He has changed the way I approach form and gestures. He made it fun for me taking away all the thought of the scene. Even though I draw digitally I still start with a red pencil

I love the passive competitive element to this. It’s unspoken… but it’s there. A constant evaluation and comparison that elevates the artwork more so than just drawing individually. Also drawing (no pun intended) inspiration and ideas from each other in the process as well. This is just awesome.

I wanted to ask what brush do you use for when you go back in with white, also do you guys use a reference often or try to freestyle from your head often. I hear a lot of back and forth about this, many say always use a reference and some like you guys, just get into it and I’d rather learn to not need a reference if it helps with creatitvity and posing. Thank you for any help given!
