@ryanbnjmnart Can you share how do you not get bored and tired and fed up drawing or inking for so long..is it.mlstly really fun? What if I want to do visual art and music and maybe virtual reality too? Surely isn't the retire to do all three things ?
Ryan's one of the few great comic artists left in the industry. It's a shame he isn't drawing a regular series for either DC or Marvel. They should focus on great art once again.
What's interesting about that point at the end about your work at Sony is that when I was in school for game design, they tried hard to convince us that being a jack of all trades was a bad thing, and that we should pick a specific niche, and get really good at it, because thats what the big companies wanted. All the guys at that studio probably got that same advice in school. I just remember thinking that was about the stupidest thing I had ever heard, especially considering this was about a decade ago, when the indie boom was really getting kicking into high gear, and I was beginning to see these little teams of generalists or even solo devs making themselves tons and tons of money by being multi talented and I knew I could do that. The fact that I was a generalist meant I ended up as basically the defacto leader of the team on my capstone course project in college, because I was able to communicate with the person who was really good at drawing, because I could do art, but I could also communicate with the guy who was a genius programmer, because I knew how to program, and I could act as the bridge between them. I definitely feel some of the downsides, I do wish I had the time to focus on one particular thing like drawing or 3D art or programming to get really good at it, but I also know having the unique skillset I have is a rare gift
Hey Ryan! Beautiful man! Thanks so much for this. I want to mention two things. I know that you understand this, but I just want to put it into words. 1) Many comic book artists DO NOT take the time to CORRECT the DRAWING PROBLEMS in the beginning stages of the art piece. perspective, anatomy, lighting, etc etc 2), Many inkers are so bad that they take a good pencil drawing, that is 3D and make it look FLAT!
Hey bro that's so true you will get rusty especially if you haven't drawing any pictures in a long time.. I'm an artist myself and I haven't been drawing in Years!. but I told myself I'm going to challenge myself just to see do I still have it. 2019 February 4th I started back drawing I drew a Batman picture .I never messed up not even once .all because I prayed about it Glory to God!!!. And I kept on drawing like everyday without messing up. I say probably one or two I messed up a little bit on some pictures but other than that I was good 😂... But then after the pandemic I had stopped because I got discouraged!😔.. but hopefully one day soon I will be back to doing art again! But this time instead of traditional art I would like to do digital!... But anyway Awesome Batman picture my brother keep it up! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Inspiring!! Everything you said are valid. I’m still struggling and I hope the universe supports my steps. Now, you’re my inspiration, thank you…., and yess, I do drawing too and my video is still not perfect. I sincerely subscribe to you. Good artwork Sir.
i have always loved your style especially with batman but i am so happy and glad to see a master artist that is sharing techniques and skills to those who want to learn but dont know where or how to start... I saw you had Whilce Portacio or of your bootcamp clips i would love to see if you could get jonathan glapion to come do a inking demo or tutorial... again thank you for all the amazing knowledge your dropping in these videos =)
Thanks. We are putting together a workbook series that shows the top techniques used by many artist in the industry, It will be on KickStarter in a few weeks. Search for Comic Pro Boot Camp to follow.
I believe he uses Daler Rowney White FW Mixed Media Paint Markers. He's talked about it before in a video with Proko called "Sketching Superheroes FAST with DC/Marvel Comic Artist".
As a new artist starting UA-cam what is ur art set up I like how u can just see the art and how the audio is clean (mainly what web cam and mic do u use please 🙏)
0:47 - Meanwhile, us in the manga/webcomic industry that have to do it ALL ourselves, heart in it or not :( Sigh, these videos make me envy the big western studios and the ability for the team members to specialize....
Beginner inker tip- Don't start off trying to ink Jim Lee. Jim's work is a bit wild and requires a lot of good judgment and improv that you won't have yet. Look to older pencil work by guys like John Buscema to really hone your line-craft first.
Inking takes a different mind set to get into it. I felt the same way but I was determined to understand inking. I looked at the original work of other inkers to help me. I would make photocopies of their work and have it next to me to motivate and inspire me to ink. The key is to learn how to hold your hand and arm and control of the tool you are using. Take the Comic Pro boot Camp workshop to work with me and other pros on how to do it.
First five minutes: don't ink if your heart isn't into it... don't ink if you're a bad inker only do pencils.... not really tips on how to ink more like excessively over thinking the process. The only way to become a better inker is to practise and study.

OMG this was my commission!! This was so incredible to see you draw this for me!! Thank you Ryan!!!
Thank you.
I am simultaneously happy for and jealous of you🎉😂

What does that mean? Did you draw this originally or did Ryan?

An incredible video! The drawing + the tips/conversation is worth watching more than once. Thank you for this video Ryan and Kristian!
Hey! Thanks!
More to come very soon.
M. Benjamin, you ROCK! Whatever you draw, I'm into it!
Top notch stuff Ryan!! Marvelous.

Wise words Mr. Benjamin. Being a specialist is cool, but sometimes its nice to wear many hats.

Nothing you said is helping!!! I need real world advice: where to submit, when to submit, how to submit..ectopic.
May I ask what pens you're using? I'm always on the lookout for new tools.
Very inspiring words.
Thank you! Great Video!
amazing video, thanks!

Ryan ! You've got your own channel ???? Subbed.
So cool ryans art so cool
God I love him
Thank you so so much 😂❤
Hey Ryan,
What brand white marker do you use. I'm having a hell of a time finding a good one.
I believe he uses Daler Rowney White FW Mixed Media Paint Markers. He's talked about it before in a video with Proko called "Sketching Superheroes FAST with DC/Marvel Comic Artist".
@@lieutenantgodzilla ...I appreciate that info brother. Thank you.
Before now, I had no idea who this guy was. After looking at his art, I knew right away he was connected or influenced by Jim Lee.
I definitely agree you, if I didn't see him do this , I would have thought Jim Lee did it
@@williamrice109 it's like the same style.
As a new artist starting UA-cam what is ur art set up I like how u can just see the art and how the audio is clean (mainly what web cam and mic do u use please 🙏)
What Pen is the artist using?? Can anyone tell me please.
what kind of pen brush did u use in this piece?

Why Batman need the bat emblem in her betl under 30 cm down her chest bat emblem?
great video! what pen is that?
Thanks! And I use Pentel Brush Pens and the Kuretake Fudegokochi Brush Pen
I use a variety of pens but this pen is the Tombow brush pen.

so many mediocre artists doing books these days, why isn't Ryan on a monthly. amazing work there
Yo Ryan do u have a ink or a sketch version of a comic?
So I should always ink on A board, or A table to avoid having shaken inks? Will that keep the paper flat all the time as I work on it?
thank you, what pen brush do you use? there is an online class on boot camp comic?
Can you have more context on you saying "it's gonna be shaky"...
Man im tired of being a broke artist. Its time to risk it all
Stills broke my man ??
I heard "eat Batman" at the beginning
Any advice for a new comic artist who has a strong pencil but lack inking meaning that i feel i mentally shut down everytime i take a pen on my hand.
Inking takes a different mind set to get into it. I felt the same way but I was determined to understand inking. I looked at the original work of other inkers to help me. @@ryanbnjmnart thank you very much, i appreciate it so much. 🙏
What kind of white pen are you using?
looks a bit like bad Bisley rendition. good advice .good video in that respect.
Not even anywhere close to looking like a Bisley influence. People just write anything in these comments. Weak observation.
@@Scout555
I said bad bisley.
@@seanpavani8251 that just means anything not bisley 😂
