Fantastic video! I'm bookmarking this for your growing advice for sure. Also, I like the voice-over culture info combined with a division demo, that's a really engaging way to do it!

Finally! And in the words of Paul Harvey, "The rest of the story". I grow in Michigan, it explains so much.

In Southern Spain, where I grow, my After Dark is about a month behind your's ... blooms are only just beginning to drop. I have my Jumbo Mickey to repot, ... I grow them in leca... this is going to be interesting... if push comes to shove, I'm just going to opt for a bigger pot 😅

I think you can get more spikes when the bulbs are bigger. I have another Fdk. After Dark and it has put out 4 spikes in the past. It is has bulbs twice as big as this one. I've only been potting that one up when it becomes unwieldy and threatening to fall over.

Do you cut all roots back for winter rest? I'm in a cold climate upstate NY. I see both but now I'm curious for cold weather. TIA

Great tutorial and dividing demonstration!. There isn't much out there for northern growers. Would most of the watering information here apply to winter resting dendrobiums? I wonder if they could handle a "warm" but humid(not wet) winter rest?. Anyway it would be nice to see s a similar video on dendrobiums. Thanks again!

Are you referring to nobile-type dendrobiums or the entire dendrobium genera because there are many different kinds of dendrobiums?

There are latouria types, kingianum types, dockrilla types, phalaenopsis types just to name a few. It is such a varied genera.

@@SpencerAloysius I should have been more specific. Actually I was thinking of Dend. Nestor(parishii x anosmum) and lodegesii. I went form rotting the roots in the winter to now they survive(sort of) but the root are overly desiccated pretty much gone.

@@jjdawg9918 So, I don't have Nestor, but I have two anosmum and I have Den. loddegessii. My opinion is that they want a very humid environment and they want to be warm. If they aren't in an 80% humid environment, then they need to be watered every couple of days. Mine should start coming into the bloom within the next month. They usually start mid-March and bloom into April. I will see what I can put together as a video for this type.

@@SpencerAloysius Oh thanks Spencer! That would be great. Of course anything for northern growers is welcome and I assume you have 100s of Cattleyas you could talk about.
