      If I don’t start them in full sun when I first move them out in May then they can burn but usually they don’t. Even if the leaves do burn, they fall off when the plant goes dormant.

    Your collection looks so great inside too. I'm amazed how you fit them in so nicely. Mps vexillaria is a COLD grower. It needs to be somewhere that the days will not get above 75 and the nights not warmer than 62 in order to be happy. They rot at the drop of a hat, more than any other Mps species so water with care.

    • @SpencerAloysius
      @SpencerAloysius 3 місяці тому

      Thanks for the tip. I will try to keep them cool. I don't normally grow Miltonia/Miltoniopsis because of the temperature requirements. I can barely keep Dendrobium cuthbertsonii from croaking.

  • @tomfurmby88

    the cattleyas were nice. But most of them looked very stressed. The fact the tenuifolia is flowering means they were most likely freshly imported from the southern hemisphere. That will be so much work potting them all. And a lot of supplies to do it. I take it there will be a mutual arrangement where you get to keep a few of them of your choosing for looking after them. I'd go for the cattleya trianae coerulea.

    • @SpencerAloysius
      @SpencerAloysius 3 місяці тому

      @@tomfurmby88 I don’t usually keep anything when I babysit the orchids and I donate all the pots/moss/bark. I don’t get anything out of this. Sometimes, if a plant doesn’t sell and it comes back to me for more babysitting until the Spring show, I will pay 50% for a plant. Before the SALT cap, I would have deducted the supply cost off my taxes but it isn’t worth it now.

    • @michaelmccarthy4077
      @michaelmccarthy4077 3 місяці тому

      "most likely freshly imported from the southern hemisphere" 🙄I don't think that was ever in question since they are a Colombian vendor that has no US base and brought plants in for the show. Of course the packaging should be an obvious clue.

      @@michaelmccarthy4077 I prefered our mutual agreement to leave each other alone but if you want to take up your previous winter hobby of stalking and insulting viewers on other peoples youtube channels then go for it. It just shows how pathetic you are that you haven't got anything better to do. You don't really know what you are talking about otherwise you would have your own channel. You kill what you touch and you take out your frustration by criticising people that know what they are talking about. It makes you feel like a superior little boy on the playground but it doesn't really give orchid growers a good name having your input tarnish a nice group of people overall. If you had something useful to add, go for it, but all I have ever seen you do is use any opportunity to brag how much you know and how little everyone else knows yet you get frustrated it doesn't always equal being able to grow orchids. I honestly thought you had finally burnt yourself out but I see it was a seasonal thing and now that winter is arriving your orchids will probably all croak and you will have to wait till spring to replace the lot but honestly I am less than interested. Unless you actually have someonething worth saying that won't upset everyone or actually add something informative. It might be a bit too much to ask, but everyone else in the room can do it so I'm sure you can figure it out too.
