Great job on video. My 2018 RAM 2500 sensor went bad some months back. I consulted with my buddy at the RAM dealership and he did say that inside the bottle there is a magnet and that they recommend replacing the whole bottle not just the sensor. And after watching your video it has more or less convinced me to just swap out the bottle as if I completed all that work for the sensor and the light did not go out I’d probably be a little bit upset. Thx again man.
Every video I've seen shows people having a lot of difficulty removing the sensor, but no one says what holds it in. This is a 21psi system. That sensor doesnt just hover in the bottom of the tank, with gravity, vibration and 21psi of pressure all trying to get it to drop out. It has to be glued in there or held in some other way.
It's likely NOT the sensor. Change the whole tank. You can get a Dorman for just over $100 or so on rock auto. If you do not keep up on coolant changes your sensor float can stick down. The actual sensor can be changed WITHOUT draining the antifreeze.
Conductivity issue. Add a bottle of Redline Water Wetter should do it. Promotes better conductivity especially in the radiator. Lowered my coolant temperature.
Happened to me after draining my coolant to replace my turbo actuator. From what I've been told when you drain your coolant sediment can cause the float to stick to the bottom. I haven't tried it yet but I'm thinking about just bringing it up to operating temperature and tapping on it with a hammer. Or maybe just pull the reservoir and try to flush it myself. Idk. I'll report back.
What if you change the low coolant sensor and it still says the coolant is low? We went through this and ended up replacing the whole tank. We have a 2017 Dodge RAM 2500 diesel. After taking the old tank off we cut it open and there is a float inside that was at fault, the sensor does not even touch the antifreeze. This float got saturated somehow. We places it in a bucket of water and it went straight to the bottom. So if you are having the low coolant level light on and replaced the sensor and you still get the light, I would bet that’s your problem. I am going to post a video on here to explain.
@@mr.tennessee Where did you get your tank from? I'm looking on line, and it looks like it doesn't come with a new sensor? I have a 2014, 3500 and since Fiat bought them, I've had nothing but issues. Thanks in advance for any suggestions
@@Planet-Forger you can get it at Dodge but it’s more expensive and it does come with a sensor. Or you can get a tank and put a sensor in then put it on.
I replace the tank on my 18 model and that fixed the problem. I put a video showing all the gu that was built up in it. Not for sure if that will be sure but it fixed my problem.
Hey there Mr. Tennessee, did you get your winch yet? HB has the Badlands Apex 12K with synth rope for $599. That's $200 less than it was back in August. They did have it down to $549 for insiders membership. It's as if they're dangling that winch in front of you, knowing YOU want to get one! LOL
Well I don’t think you can clear the code. It will go away when fixed. I did full it back up then a called dodge and they told me I had a bad sensor. So I got 2 more on the way. They said they were having problem with them sensors.
Lucky for Dodge you can replace the sensor. To bad it did not fix the problem. I am sure you will figure it out. GM you have to replace the whole bottle. Henry Ford is rolling over in his grave.”Parts Interchangeable today BS! :(

Yeah it was jacked up. Ck out the video when I change it. It doesn’t look good. Thanks for watching
Great video. Lots of good information. Hope you were able to get the issue fixed. Be safe and God bless.
Thank you. Dodge said there having a problem with them sensors so I got 2 more on the way

Oh yeah I did. It helped out. Thanks
thanks for the heads up. My low coolant light just came on and I just might go ahead and replace the whole tank since the coolant level is full
I have a good video on my thewayidoit channel.

@bentonheath7838 thanks for the info. Will try

I am going through the same issue. I just replaced the sensor and its still giving me the same problem. I will try to replace the whole tank tomorrow

If you replace the sensor and light is still on you need to replace the coolant tank as the magnetic float is stuck inside the tank
Yeah did that and the light went off for a few days and than came back on.
Great video.
Thanks and thanks for watching be safe
Yeah
I have a 3500 15 6.7 ram. I replaced the sensor with a new one but its still showing the coolant level low. Need help!!

I replace the sensor 7 times. But it was not a sensor it was the reservoir was so clogged up
