The best!
*_"how fuckin good were the 80's in Aussie"_* was about to say no way get f%cked, f%ck off, but you are being 100% fair dinkum mate, bloody true right!!
Ya got that right man. Good old times when you could what ever the F ya wanted
Best version.
Walk out of Kmart with a loaded rifle on my shoulder, no one gave it a second glance. We were one people, one culture. We were Australian.
One of the best covers ever. The Animals were fabulous with their rendition. The Angels gave it a whole new spin. Excellent.
Is that you 👀 Barry
Great version! Still sounds brilliant in 2022!
There's only one Angels, there's only one Doc!
😆🤟 Aussie rock .when I was a kid dad vibrated us to sleep with 16,000 watts of Bose speakers and alpine amplifiers 🤟🤟it would crack our loungeroom windows at ¼ volume
Awesome! Back in those days I played keyboards (still do) and our band won the Griffith Battle of the Bands. We played on the back of a semi trailer in the middle of the Griffith race course to a crowd of around 4000. The PA was doubled up (meaning 2 PA systems) to about 20,000 watts (the speaker stack was higher than the semi trailer). When the bass player hit a note, it rocked the semi! 😃
Know it!
Not the same power but we had Bose 901 with Marrantz 1152 DC amp.
There is loud and then there is proper hifi loud from the 70’s / 80’s. Good enough to shut the neighbours up.
This is a great version of the animals. That was our theme song in Vietnam
Saw these guys live many times. Don't know why the rest of the world didn't make them a super band. Love this version and I hope Eric Burdon and the Animals approve. One of very few songs covered by a band that is at least as good as the original from the best band in Australasia bar none. Thats hard to say for a Kiwi.
As an official Pommie old fart, I used to go to the Newcastle on Tyne Club a Go-Go ( "the Gogg") when I was 18 back then when the Animals were a local group.
Personally, now as an Aussie I really prefer the Angels' version.
The energy these guys injected into this song is just amazing. I absolutely love the feel in the verse.
So good. So Aussie. So many memories. Back in the day when I was slim had hair, and none of was grey.
original is by the Animals
Speaking for me, and many others I reckon. Partied hard to this in 80’s, better than original version!
Some time ago then? Same as me.
@@benedict303 yep great oz band eh bruv
@@benedict303 We all know that Captain obvious.
R.I.P. Bernard Patrick "Doc" Neeson OAM (4 January 1947 - 4 June 2014) was an Australian singer-songwriter and musician. You gave me some joy in this joyless city.
Born in Belfast mate, Northern Irish.
I was a singer in pub bands for a number of years. I get teenagers asking me about it cos they want to be in a band. I tell them -- you wanna be a kick arse band with a kick arse singer? -- go listen to the Angels with Doc Neeson.
Watching in April 2020 catching up on good times and great memories during covid self isolating ... we were so young and beautiful then... haha 💜🌺
This song is my saving grace at the moment being stuck over a closed border in Australia. Can't wait to get over the border and go home! Cause we gotta get outta this place!!
so fitting in a roundhouse kinda way ..are you over east or west lol
not many people can sing as good as eric and not many can do a great job like this superb band from oz
One Of The Gr8est Covers EVER Done.
Haven't heard this for long while an I'm up outta my pew. Great song , great cover an the dearly departed Doc is right, we all have to get out of this place . Great Aust rock.
The Angels are so underrated
The Animals were one of the greatest groups of all time, but The Angels made this song their own. Brilliant!
They really didn't, though.
@@marmac83 Yeah, did.
@@richme1631 Nah.
Sad he’s gone 😞 rip Doc !
It became an Aussie icon.
How can anyone not like this song? The best cover of any song in the world!
The Angels were the sound and spirit of the 70s Australian music scene. They rocked their way around every pub where I lived in Western Sydney.
Western Sydney 4 life
when this song comes on, you turn it up!
I liked the fact that the Angels adopted Sydney as their go to place, be it recording some of their albums, being prominent in their videoclips or prolific touring around all of it's iconic venues. The Angels should be immortalised in the music national hall of fame.
Sydney pubs, live bands, crazy wild times of my youth....
When it comes to music and Australia, most people think about AC/DC and Men at Work, and one of my buddies who owns a record store turned me on to Screamin' Jets. But to me, The Angels, or Angel City as they were called in the States, belong on the same pedestal, or even higher. When on I'm road trips, I wear out the three CDs I have of The Angels, but until today I had never seen or heard this cover, and it just blew me away.
They absolutely carved this up at every gig . Every place was rockin .
Legendary song.
Oh Doc! RIP dude, we'll see your face again!
Such great times every time they came to Newcastle. Went everywhere to see them . At Cessnock, Maitland. everywhere they played. So many times at the Newcastle Workers Club. All changed now. Fantastic band. Doc made the band.
Great song 😎 by a great Ozzy band - The Angels awesome band. 👌
Saw them at the Reagent Theatre, Palmerston North, New Zealand about 1984 I think (I'm 58 now, memories not as good as it used to be). Fiona and I plus another. Man, was it LOUD but an awesome show. Doc was sitting in a chair as he'd recently broken his leg
Just Great Aussie Pub Rock The Angels one of Australia's best live Rock Bands, love Bob's hair style in this clip,Kevin.L.P.Atkinson.
The Angels, they certainly rivaled AC/DC in Oz, in the early years..
Unfortunately, for The Angels plans to promote in USA, fell apart.
Truly, this Band & their Talent are Huge & much Loved! They still Tour & have a Loyal Following!
RIP Doc. 🎸🎶🎸🎶
The Angels!
To this day, still have Loyal fans, sell music!!.
"We Gotta Get Outta This Place." (Shows shots of sand, sea and bikini babes) Okay then.
For some reason, a guy I worked with always played this song when we went out to grab a fugitive. He said it made him feel really tough and badass, wanting to be dangerous. I guess it worked, he never wanted to hear the original version.
That's what's wrong with cops
This song is still played to this day. Awesome hit! Reminds me of finishing work.
Reminds me of a town in WA where a girl invited me back to her caravan, and, well you know?
About two weeks later on the news her ex killed her and the guy she was with...
To this day I think girls like her were interested in out of town guys like me just 'cos they wanted to get out of the town.
Saw the angels twice in the late 80s - two of the best concerts ever!!
1st band I saw "LIVE" @ the Tivoli...😉
I always loved the original but this is by the ever awesome Angels and YES they did it proud they did it as good if not better I love the driving intro !
Stuck in my flat waiting 3 days for COVID-19 test results.
You are right Gav1959, there is no comparison between these two songs. I like both versions. When the Animals released their version in July 65 it peaked at number two in the English charts and stayed in the charts for twelve weeks. I have no chart information for the Angels, however I think is probably one of the best remakes of all time. The Angels have put their own stamp on a classic rock song. It is very hard for a good band to wreck a good song by another good band.
Eric Burdon would be proud of this cover song.
This is the "at work" song.
We gotta get outta this place!
One of the only cover versions that is better then the original. That and Foo Fighters version of Baker Street.👍👍👍😜
The animals isn’t the original
Green Manalushi Judas Priest
Great sound!! Pure Rock and Roll!!!
TAKE ME WOTH YOU, GO ON MATES... I can't handle it no more. ☆
🤣 love it
The more I listen there is no one like doc true legend miss him so much
Doc Neeson, Ex Elizabeth migrant like me. Once saw him swinging around the verandah posts at Elizabeth Town Centre! He had to get out of that place!! 😜As we all did!! 😂
@@robmorris7128 When our immigration policy actually enhanced our "culture" in a positive way 🏋♂as opposed to the poc decades that gave us the "diversity' we so much neded to experience.🤐
Great cover by the Angels from Dec. '86. And some great shots of urban Australia in the '80s in the video.
A far superior version to the original Animals version.
This used to be my anthem when I was working in a crappy job late 80's.
RIP Rock in peace Doc
Excallent
Greatest frontman most fans of rock music have never heard, much less seen live. Such a shame. R.I.P. Doc. No one could touch you then, and no one has since.
To this day i can't see how the Angels never when to the top is beyond me ..
Respect.
They didn't sell their souls.
This is the best baritone version of this song...!?
Did anyone else see the irony in a band called "The Angels" singing "We gotta get out of this place" ?
Bloody FANTASTIC !! ANGELS FOREVER !!
The greatest remake ever. The Animals, Great. This version, Take a song and re-generate it, without destroying the original.
Blinded by the Light (Manfred Mann's Earth Band) is pretty much unchallenged as the greatest cover of all time. Bryan Ferry's cover of A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall is probably the next best. This one is up there, though.
STYLE AND GRACE WITH PINPOINT PRECISION
Great vocals. Instrumentally though I prefer strings and percussion and no brass. I think it would be a better tip of the hat to The Animals but that's just my opinion.
2021, anyone? ✌🏻
Awesome Cover by The Angels.
This is the best version..great keyboards and arrangements
Es como si Iggy Pop la hubiese versionado. Mola (Sounds like Iggy Pop made a version of this song.Cool!)
My four year old sang this walking into kindergarten one day! 😂
Not the angels, the girl group of the 60s.
Is that you Faye 👀
Morticia TRISHA YOUR A Dear, SABINA IS A LILITH
Me and my identical twin brother Seen these blokes at the Mansfield Tavern. Thanks for the memories.
Great song.👌🏾
Sung this to death, love it, oxymoron, since U gotta be somewhere crap to sing it as much I did .
It was in my own head
Who knew🤩🤪🤪🤪🤪
saw them live maroubra bay pub 80s fantastic good old days
@61SGman Not quite SG. Don't forget it's 20 yrs later and The Angels had access to highly improved equipment, recording and development of the rock sound. They just took the roots of a classic and made it into a masterpiece!! Someone else might do a cover of this song in ten years time...can't wait.
I remember this sung by Eric Burton and the Animals years ago.... One of the rock songs I like. I gotta get out of this place... Good Aussie band.... Oz has so much talent!
Ah, so you are feeling this way today, eh! Want to burn down the house? A wild party perhaps? There is a time for every feeling. Nice energetic tune.
Not bad for a remake.
R.I.P DOC The Best Angels Line up !!
Doc may have been born in Ireland but he was a true Aussie rocker who was perhaps the most dynamic frontman we have ever seen!
+Tony Testa He was actually born in Northern Ireland. Just a slight correction, please don't slap me upside the head ^-^
hahaha nah mate if something like that upsets me then my life must really suck!!
+R.C Jones mate, raised in australia .. maybe he's singing about Ireland???
One of the most dynamic, not the most.
+jane emkay He said perhaps the most.......not the most.
the best version so far
Great version by the best Aussie band ever.
Stephen Lancaster true 👌
Playing the maracas looked so much cooler in those days.
enjoyed this version over the Animals version
Yeh love it.
1988 and stuck in a remote Western Australian gold mining town called Telfer. This was the towns unofficial anthem and it got smashed out every night at the pub. Dont know how many mornings, after a big night, that I’d swear I’m off the piss, but after working eleven hours in blistering heat, the only thing you looked forward to was an ice cold Emu Export.
Fucking love it : )
the Angels JUST CRANK UP THE VOLUME oh yeah!!!!
Classic Aussie rock
Original by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil not The Animals
Referring to anywhere outside Australia.
This used to be my anthem when I was working in a crappy job late 80's.
Time for some Aussie Rock!
Fantastic❤
The Angels. Best Aussie band Ever
Doc Neeson R.I.P.
in this dirty old part of the city "love that line"
Great song. 😎
It's An Aussie Thing ❤
Possibly the most bogan lineup in history.. this lot and rose tattoo at the lady bay pub in Warrnambool 1992. The good old days!!!
You've just got out of this crazy world mate... RIP Doc Neeson!
My year 12 school anthem 😊
I LOVE THE ANGELS💥💥💥💖💖💖🔥🔥🔥💜💜💜🧡🧡🧡DOC♥️💜💙💖💥JOHN ,RICK BREWSTER❤💥💖🌈💛💚🦘🦘🦘💐
Heaven is a place on RAVENZ EARTH
I always just left when I had enough.
Great song.😎
This don't make the list the Animals then Blue Oyster Cult ....... This is just grunge.
