Hi - founder of noise week and MAJOR SONG WRITER - i wrote this - by special request for the DRIVE SAFE campaign - recorded with the ORIGINA Noise works ONE week before they were killed in a road incident the video or it became - a high rating drive safe don't drive drunk campaign for 12 months, then - Noise WORKS - TAKE TWO HIT AUSTRALIA - fresh from New Zealand - and one Jon Stevens was acquired to be used as total bait to make me - reshoot the video - and ask him if he ever had the urge to study music or be a rock-star. every New Zealander in Australia - who knew who founded Noise woks as trying to find me to steal what i wrote for Noise works soon after to put Jon Stevens version to the test in a studio. while my team put them to the test their photogenic qualities shooting things to re-edit a few videos FOUR Made the final; cut given to them to say YOU WIN the auditions - voted MOST WANTED by New Zealand fans of Noiseworks to take their place. - no one apparently no one wants MY SONGS I'm too intellectual for words, don't you know, and writing songs - to say GOOD BYE to dead friends, or ANTI-SUICIDE SONGS, is too morbid for the music industry, - as my music - you hear it all the time - i am the FOUNDER OF PINK FLOYD, QUEEN, LED ZEPLIN, DURAN DURAN, PETSHOP BOYS, Sting and the Police, and Prince the BAND, AHA, I don't do business with the music industry any more for a reason I GOT SICK OF MEN TAKING ALL THE CREDIT FOR MY WORK....I just got my revenge by unleashing my NEW DISCOVERIES on the world, like Alison Moyet, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Eurytmics, and convincing tina turner to kick someone in the nut bush and defect to Australia to say - i am the REAL Tina Turner - and I wanna be a MOVIE STAR in the movie the FAKE TINA TURNER offered me a role in.... i knew how to lure LIVE ACTS worth seeing to Australia to PLAY LIVE - did I EVER KNOW. I learned from the best....there's a reason so many acts only ever had one album they LIED - and their career died because they COULD NEVER MATCH MY SONG-WRITING and COMPOSER TEAM and i unleashed the BEST - Billy Joel, the Beatles, in different ways, and Elton John - Hall and Oates, Billy Idol, QUEEN,, and Roxette, when I said - the SONG WRITER should SING THEIR OWN SONGS. in my own DEVIOUS WAY - impersonators for the REAL SONG WRITERS in CONCEPTUAL AS HELL MUSIC VIDEOS. the last straw was - THEM SAYING ROSS WILSON wrote big hits AFTER HE DIED - no that's More of MY STOLEN SONGS.... but half the Aussie music industry's biggest acts of the 80's said the only Song writing team we wanna rip off is Molly Meldrum's secret music factory team.
Hey buddie your talking about the 80’s .lol and didn’t we have fun ? And we where so free and got away with pretty much everything Hahahahahaha.sucks to be a kid these days 😂
That time has long gone and never return. The insidiousness need or unavoidable fact for the human race to always stagnate and go backwards whenever things are at their best in ANY walk of life is just too ingrained and unavoidable.
Auto-Tune and Pro Tools homogenised all the life out of music... a generation of kids who have never been anywhere or done anything are the ones getting record deals now and they are based on their looks not their talent... the general pussification and ruination of western civilisation... many things have happened to music... none of them good.
Oh-woh-woh-oh... Oh-oh-oh... You never expect it to be in your wildest dreams So take a step backwards for a little while You'll find it there It's somethin' that I can't explain So I remain trapped inside Still holdin' strong Still holding o-on to you To you Take me back to you It's been a long time Although every night I think of you It's such a lonely life I watched you wave goodbye as you drove away I didn't know that it would be your last time with me You said - life ain't worth living if nobody cared You said that all the time Oh I take a step back and see your starin' eyes I see you on the day you die Take me back to you It's been a long time Although every night I think of you It's such a lonely life (yeah) And take me back to you Take me back to you Oh-woh-woh-oh-oh Take me back to you It's been a long time Although every night I think of you It's such a lonely life Oh-oh-oh-oh Take me back to you Take me back to you
Hey ya..😊 I was thinking the same thing as well..what did happen to this world? When I am listening to this Noiseworks song Take Me Back I am thinking back to 1987 when the world seemed a nicer and better place..Great music..Great movies.. Hasbro made the coolest toys in the world..the fashion trend was way-out and made it fun to walk down the street..then 32 years later the world was hit by covid 19 and now we're all screwed..so sad and tragic ..
@@EllaKournikova1234 Honestly, I feel like it's been a long slide down since the GFC, it's just that the pandemic followed by the war in Ukraine and Gaza have accelerated the decline. For me the mid to late 90's were the high point, but maybe that just a late teens/early 20s thing. For another great song just seeing a video for the Cure's Burn (from the first Crow movie soundtrack) at the bottom of my screen. Never give up, never surrender.
Always takes me back to memories of my brother Stuart Antony van Hoorn, who took his own life on December 1, 1990. One of his favourite bands. I just wish he would have called me.
The emotion in Jon Stevens singing is so powerful, I feel it in my heart every time. The way these instruments compliment his voice is supreme! What an amazing band!
@@SPQRTempus That would be after Sammy Hagar left VH in the mid 90's, Jon was considered but Van Halen went with Garry Cherone of Extreme ;) While successful in NZ Jon wasn't on the world map so to speak in 85 after Roth left, not until 87 when Noiseworks broke big locally. But yes, makes ya think right? ;)
My 5 brothers and sister listen and sang to this album on cassette player non stop from Melbourne to Adelaide and back to Melbourne. Take me back was our favourite song. My brothers had the same hair like John Stevens and even dressed the same and were very popular with the females . Now one brother has just passed and one is in the wheelchair with Multiple sclerosis. I wish I had a Time Machine and Take Me back to the 80s .
Amen, back then we had these guys, Hoodoo Gurus, Darryl Braithwaite, Screaming Jets, Paul Kelly, Icehouse, Hunters & Collectors, John Farnham, Choirboys, ACDC, back in the day we had LEGIT aussie music to rock out to!
There must have been a hell of a lot of politics in music back in the day, as a lot of Aussie bands could have made the big time worldwide, but they were not marketed properly. I am glad that I got to hear a lot of them. If we had UA-cam 40 years ago, I wonder if things could have been different for them?
Without a doubt this is one of the greatest Aussie rock songs ever. I probably don't go a day without listening to the accoustic version. I'll be getting dropping in a hole to this song playing. Rock on!!!
I had no idea about this band until recently--a real shame they were never promoted here in the States. I think their first two albums could've easily gained some traction here.
Me either. One of my favorite things now, is to find 80s music that I never got the chance to hear when it was released. I'm transported back to my days of cruising in my old car with the radio blasting. Almost. Almost can feel the wind through the open windows, see the streetlights strobing across my windshield and the smell of my girlfriend's perfume drifting over from the passenger seat.
The last time I saw my ex was when she waved at me....as she drove away. That line brings back those memories. I could have been a better boyfriend. I could have tried harder. This song always makes me wonder. A true sliding doors time in my life.
I love you forever Peppy. I will never forget you. No dog will ever replace you. You were the best dog- misunderstood as a cheeky stubborn and high energy cattle dog, but it wasn’t your fault- we didn’t have the skills or lifestyle to be what you needed. Almost 40 years have passed and my heart breaks when I remember your face as you were given away, with us screaming and crying in the car driving away and you chasing after us crying. I understand ‘his’ reasons and we couldn’t afford to keep you let alone feed ourselves, but I will never forgive or forget the WAY it was done. You are my forever dog. I cannot wait to see you again little Peppy girl. You are amazing and missed. All the dogs since, got the best of me- you got a disfunctional kid with an unstable home and unstable family. I wish we had met when I was an adult. I’d have cut off my hand before I’d give you away by my own choice. I love you so so much. Please look after Hippo and the other doggos I’ve loved that have passed, until we are reunited. 😔🐕💔🕊
This will always be one of my favourite songs of all time. That particular guitar sound is awesome. And Jon Stevens voice at the end , that " breath" or something makes the song complete. It's perfect!
If there was ever 2 songs to play to the world for a new Australian tourism campaign post Covid, Take me back and Touch would be it, no if or buts. Australian Oz rock greats. Put a deal together Nosieworks and Australian tourism commission.
My aunt gave us this tape when we were in Melbourne over on holiday from Ireland. I was 11. We also bought the single later back home. It's one of those automatic songs that I'll wip out at karaoke that few people have heard. Absolute belter.
I’m a HEALTHCARE WORKER, still! I’m now 63.. keep an open mind, because there still, today, some great groups, bands and individual artists!! Trust me, just search. Yes, it was a great era for music in the 80’s, but don’t the great artists today, deserve recognition too? ! Just listen.. Love, Wendy from Australia xox❤

Vaporwave in a lot of ways was kinda a movement back towards stuff like this even if it was superficially against rock music. It inadvertently lead into an AOR Revival Scene and some of the ideas from it also Spilled into European Style Black Metal. Yes and no though. Not exactly the same for sure.
Saw them live tonight at Enmore theatre for their Take me back once off night. They saved this till last and they still rings this song out just as good as it was 36 years ago. Wow!
The 80s were awesome and so many great bands. Noiseworks, paul kelly, dragon, hunters snd collectors. Nothing today that compares. Those were the days.
Classic Jon Stevens and noise works … ❤️… 🎵🎵🎵🎵… they rocked it back and they sound even better today .. can’t wait to go back to the local and listen to live music again..
I can still remember the first time I saw these guys on the south cost and omg what a great sound and great night it was, indeed. [ thank you] Long live Noiseworks.
Traveling on a bus in Europe from Vienna to Serbia 🇷🇸, it's 22:33pm and fully proud of living my first young childhood days in Newcastle late 70s 80s 90s 2000. Screaming Jets just reminds me of how life was absolutely beautiful and how proud I am to have thoughts of the real life.
I am from Brazil and I love Australian bands. Could any Australian tell me what happened to Rock Australian ??? why it's over ??? For a country that had, INXS, Hunters & Collectors, Noiseworks, Hoodoo Gurus, Spy vs Spy, James Rayne, Midnight Oil, Gang Gajang, Crowded House, Diesel, Australian Crawl, Cold Chisel, AC / DC, The Angels, The Choirboys etc ... etc ... Can someone explain to me what happened? Australian rock was fantastic, I have hundreds of CDs and vinyls, why does Australia no longer have bands and music like this?
It's not the same anymore in Australia hip hop pop rnb and techno has taken over Australia. They don't make music like how they made them back in the 80s and 90s.
In short it was about population and distance, Pubs and clubs always had live music to bring in people. It was easier for smaller bands to travel to the people than try and fill a stadium. Probably why so many Kiwi bands came over. No internet so you had to do radio and live gigs to get your songs out there.
it was the 80's and aussie music was at its best raw and live yes even the 90's we aussies had some good music now we just relive it by playing these classic songs and love your taste in our aussie home grown music thanks
All theses bands started out as pub bands paying their dues before live audiences was never about image just the music come the 90’s they replaced that with formula pretty image people that had as much souls as dirty dish rag
The lyrics to this song have been stuck in my head for ages and I had no idea where they came from and this popped up on my music list today. Such a great song!
I feel a new deep dive coming on. I'm getting a new appreciation of Australian and New Zealand talent. Hopefully we get to another John , John Rowles, a mix of Elvis and Tom Jones in one.

Your fkn full of it man
@@redskye8908 wtf did i just read ?
What the f..k happened to music? Nothing compares to anything we did 30-40 years ago. R.I.P. great times.
Auto-Tune and Pro Tools homogenised all the life out of music... a generation of kids who have never been anywhere or done anything are the ones getting record deals now and they are based on their looks not their talent... the general pussification and ruination of western civilisation... many things have happened to music... none of them good.
80’s Aussie rock seriously shits on every other song 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Oh-woh-woh-oh...
Oh-oh-oh...
You never expect it to be in your wildest dreams
So take a step backwards for a little while
You'll find it there
It's somethin' that I can't explain
So I remain trapped inside
Still holdin' strong
Still holding o-on to you
To you
Take me back to you
It's been a long time
Although every night
I think of you
It's such a lonely life
I watched you wave goodbye as you drove away
I didn't know that it would be your last time with me
You said - life ain't worth living if nobody cared
You said that all the time
Oh I take a step back and see your starin' eyes
I see you on the day you die
Take me back to you
It's been a long time
Although every night
I think of you
It's such a lonely life (yeah)
And take me back to you
Take me back to you
Oh-woh-woh-oh-oh
Take me back to you
It's been a long time
Although every night
I think of you
It's such a lonely life
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Take me back to you
Take me back to you
I miss music that had this kind of passion. Such a rarity these days.
Come back , we need you , for our souls and ears :)
Can we PLEASE find these original videos and upscale them at least to 1080p? A WHOLE new generation would revamp these classic songs. PLEASE FFS!
Thats so true im 19 years old and I love aussie gold era of music
R.I.P Stuart Fraser we miss you heaps and heaps mate
He was a awesome guitarist
Always takes me back to memories of my brother Stuart Antony van Hoorn, who took his own life on December 1, 1990. One of his favourite bands. I just wish he would have called me.
I'm sorry 4 your loss
🙏🏾
Much love to you all ❤
Im sorry for your loss
The emotion in Jon Stevens singing is so powerful, I feel it in my heart every time. The way these instruments compliment his voice is supreme! What an amazing band!
My mum has served him twice in the last week at her job lmao
yes he is i feel it in my heart too :-)
And to think he was considered for Van Halen after David Lee Roth quit.
Comentário incrível!!🤘
@@SPQRTempus That would be after Sammy Hagar left VH in the mid 90's, Jon was considered but Van Halen went with Garry Cherone of Extreme ;) While successful in NZ Jon wasn't on the world map so to speak in 85 after Roth left, not until 87 when Noiseworks broke big locally. But yes, makes ya think right? ;)
Nothing like the 80s music.
Omygosh, those were the dayzzzz🎉 Take me back 1 trillion percent
My 5 brothers and sister listen and sang to this album on cassette player non stop from Melbourne to Adelaide and back to Melbourne. Take me back was our favourite song. My brothers had the same hair like John Stevens and even dressed the same and were very popular with the females . Now one brother has just passed and one is in the wheelchair with Multiple sclerosis. I wish I had a Time Machine and Take Me back to the 80s .
💔
I have had enough of 2021 and want to go back to the 80's
🤣
Take me back…with you.
2021? 2024 now and we have got a deep shit......
I'm coming too
any of these past hits put it over any of today's contemporary crap...hands down!!!
Yes!!!
That's why I don't listen to the radio these days... just so must crap...
Was a different industry then.
Spicy
Another Aussie iconic song, so much great music back in those days, so many wonderful memories.
The 80s/90s was the Best! Waterskiing on the Murray. Bring it back in these times🌻
This song still rocks after all these years.
How did I live through the 80s and never hear of this band?! That is real man's voice.omg
For shame! Glad it found you! :)
Every night in my bedroom as a sad 16 yo.. I was at horden pavilion 4 times live.. still listening x s
I was born in ‘73. I saw Noiseworks play on parliament steps when I was 16. I am so blessed to have grown up in the ‘80’s.
Take me back to my free life,no worrys,no broken Hart, miss ya Gary W.so happy and freedom was everything.xo
Try looking up our bands…….it’s worth it!
Listen to 'rain' from Dragon my American friend.
The last time I saw my ex was when she waved at me....as she drove away. That line brings back those memories. I could have been a better boyfriend. I could have tried harder. This song always makes me wonder. A true sliding doors time in my life.
I miss these times back in 80's! What the hell happened?
😔🐕💔🕊
What a voice he was back in those days best band in 80s I'm an first nation Australia I love this band
This will always be one of my favourite songs of all time.
That particular guitar sound is awesome.
And Jon Stevens voice at the end , that " breath" or something makes the song complete.
It's perfect!
Yes
My teens, great memories. Even better music.....
Magic.... Loved it then, Love it now.
Can't beat the music or the mullets!
If there was ever 2 songs to play to the world for a new Australian tourism campaign post Covid, Take me back and Touch would be it, no if or buts. Australian Oz rock greats. Put a deal together Nosieworks and Australian tourism commission.
And jimmy barnes working class man
My aunt gave us this tape when we were in Melbourne over on holiday from Ireland. I was 11. We also bought the single later back home. It's one of those automatic songs that I'll wip out at karaoke that few people have heard. Absolute belter.
Did such a great performance at Warne's farewell x
Before Kings of Leon, there was Noiseworks! 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Born in 82 but remember this music like it was yesterday! My mum was in her 20's and showed me the way in music!! Plus, she kinda loved Jon Lol!!
In the 70s the pom's dominated music in the 80's the Aussies cut sick on the world so many talented musicians
The best music 80s 👍 🎤 🎸👏
When music mattered. 80's-90's I can happily say it was the best 20years of my life. Thanks to all the talented musicians we had 🤘🔥
What a song, what a voice!
Take me back to 1987😥
I love these old Aussie songs I’m 22 proud to be Aussie I listen to cold chisel, rads, oz crawl I remember I watched noiseworks tribute show at the doylo on the central coast it was a great night people of all cultures had a beer and had the time of their lives 🇦🇺🇦🇺
I like Aussie's bands very much. As far as I'm concerned Aussies are proud, tough and strong people. I can't even imagine living in the place where every even the smallest living thing wants to kill or eat you. LOL
What a tune 👌🏼 love the 80's as I was born in 89
Rip Stuart fraser, he rips the solo here, rest in peace man

So good to hear these fav. songs of the 80's... where i was too young to understand what love meant, but the music manage to imbed in my soul!
Those words mean so much more now.

My favourite Noiseworks somg love Jon Stevens I remember them growimg up xx
They don't make music like this anymore...
Got that right
Sadly not!!!!
Damn straight
Saw them live tonight at Enmore theatre for their Take me back once off night. They saved this till last and they still rings this song out just as good as it was 36 years ago. Wow!
Love this song🎵
The 80s were awesome and so many great bands. Noiseworks, paul kelly, dragon, hunters snd collectors. Nothing today that compares. Those were the days.
love his voice so under rated🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Classic Jon Stevens and noise works … ❤️… 🎵🎵🎵🎵… they rocked it back and they sound even better today .. can’t wait to go back to the local and listen to live music again..
Great band and great voice ...good looking Rooster with his mullet too.
Can’t wait till you come to Australia 🇦🇺 💗🥳
Noiseworks Icehouse INXX❤
I can still remember the first time I saw these guys on the south cost and omg what a great sound and great night it was, indeed. [ thank you] Long live Noiseworks.
Brilliant song. Still listening in 2022.
Writing from Newcastle! Spy Vs Spy and DV8 and so many more during that time. Great times
This does TAKE ME BACK ❤ gee i had such a crush on the lead singer Jon 😁
Wow you really do know all the good Aussie bands! 🙌🏻
All theses bands started out as pub bands paying their dues before live audiences was never about image just the music come the 90’s they replaced that with formula pretty image people that had as much souls as dirty dish rag
wow this song takes me back...
RIP Stuart Fraser and RIP Shane Warne.
The lyrics to this song have been stuck in my head for ages and I had no idea where they came from and this popped up on my music list today. Such a great song!

Noiseworks 😍 😍 😍 ❤️❤️❤️❤️💘💘💘💘From France 🇫🇷
I feel a new deep dive coming on.
I'm getting a new appreciation of Australian and New Zealand talent.
Hopefully we get to another John , John Rowles, a mix of Elvis and Tom Jones in one.
