54 year old here who caught a handful of shows from 1988-1993 (incl JBG). In that era we felt privileged to be able to pop a bootleg cassette into the car stereo and cruise around town with some live GD!! Good memories indeed.
Just got a really nice 'box set' of 'Truckin' Off To Buffalo' - it's made more like a booklet with a page for each LP instead of a box that you remove the lid from. I got the CD and vinyl of MSG - I didn't even notice they were sourced from tapes!
Thanks for bringing this release to my attention!! I love cassette tapes. I think many get an impression of cassette based on past experiences through inferior decks, playback systems and ultimately poorly recorded tapes. I have several Nakamichi Dragon decks, a Revox B215 and a handful of other decks. It is such a a nice thing to just record my vinyl records onto a cassette to listen to out of convenience. With that caliber of audio recorder and some NOS tape types, it usually sounds better than any commercially released cassette in the heyday and especially currently, given new tape formulations, although FOX RTM are superb type 1 tapes manufactured in France. I typically use NOS tapes I’ve purchased over the years.
Thanks for this review, I haven't picked it up yet but am looking for the best place to buy it. I don't mind tape noise SOMETIMES... But, I think there's too many releases I'm getting burnt out and I think others are probably getting burnt out and they're not as exciting and I think they should decrease it significantly
I'll definitely snag this when it hits Amazon Canada. "limited" to 10k lol. No announcement of more Dave's picks on vinyl in the almanac. I'm guessing Dave's #2 will be the final vinyl version with #23 not being very well received.
I'm curious if there was anywhere in this set that said what number /10000 it was. I was disappointed to find that my RFK 73 vinyl had no issue number at all
in the item description is will let you know if the record boxset you are buying in numbered. It will say "Numbered Boxset" if it is. I have a copy of the RFK boxset as well. Great boxset I love it, but was disappointed that the RFK release isn't numbered

Received this box set as a gift and have been loving it. I’ve always loved live recordings and their imperfections.
Without a net and Built to Last on colored vinyl are available for preorder at Barnes & Noble now

I think the sound is wonderful on this release!

I'm still debating this release. I purchased the cd and didn't think it sounded the best. Does the mastering for vinyl sound any different?
