Even after watching this whole series a couple of times you can't understand how you make things look so easy to do and repair when in reality it is so tough specially when you don't have all the tools on hand, it clearly shows your craftsmanship. On the other side the fact that this guide of how to do it is one click away definitely makes me more confident to take over those scary projects, thanks so much "A" for taking your time to share your job and thinking process with us, priceless.
If a person chooses to repair boats for a living and sticks with it for the period of time he has I would hope anyone who does the same is able to make it look easy. It's going up and down a ladder on the hard that gets harder over time ...😂
he makes it look easy by editing, you are not seeing the whole picture and his parts prices are way off, he is not even including shipping fee, there's a lot he is not including.
I own a 24 foot Grady White explorer. Working in the bildge transom area is a pain in the lower back and knees, there are two small hatches for access, and I am not a tiny man. But I don't give up I am patient , I don't rush the work. Having a cooler of ice cold water and yes an occasional beer makes the work smoother😊😊
@@marcplucinski8846 watch out for black widows. lol
Love watching your videos - I have learned quite a bit. Actually just got done rebuilding a 18' center console boat myself with the knowledge!
Your restorations are the best and I cannot pull myself away from watching once I start!! The wiring is my challenge! Great job as usual Bro!
Thank you!
My first time watching your videos and you're amazing.Your attention to detail is Outstanding you go over and beyond for these boats
Hard job but somebody's gotta do it. Thanks for takin one for the team.
Wow that’s a completely different boat now lol
Inspiring me to work on my Dauntless
Regarding the Bimini, the factory Bimini is supposed to be kind of “backwards” on these.
The factory Bimini from Boston whaler has strap tie downs in the forward and the rear. The forward straps go to the center console and the rear straps go to the mounts you saw near the rear seats.
It stows with the Bimini angled forward and above the center console.
I had similar staying on my vinyl and when I couldn’t get it out I used vinyl dye/paint made by SEM and it’s been three years and has held up great.
Good job finding the correct barrel bolts for the hinges! (Beckson)
Also, UPD plastics probably makes a windshield for that.
Okay new drinking game! Everytime he mentions how good the boats looking you gotta drink 😂 Love the content keep it up!!
Someone may have already suggested this, but I've had three Boston Whalers and have always used Soft Scrub bathroom cleaner on the floors and upholstery. It cleans great and contains a small amount of chlorine. Might be a solution. Nice job on this boat.
how is it on gelcoat and vinyl though
@@ct1762 I use Ajax powder and its perfectly fine...Softscrub is even less abrasive...those deeply ingrained stains won't come up without some scrubbing with powdered cleanser...
Sweet boat.. The Boston Whaler would make a perfect small fresh water lake boat.
when using aerosol sprays keep the spray head that just pull off, so when you loose one before empty, you can try various ones ,till a fit, and keep on spraying.
3M adhesive remover... Works like a dream.
I use a heat gun on high for black plastic. Works awesome
Man…. I don’t realize just how bad of shape this thing was in when you found it. You did a killer job fixing this thing! Super impressed 🎉🎉🎉
Right lol
Love your videos bros. I hope to be like you and do restoration work 🎉I think this is the coolest project/job you do, very fine work. I have a sting ray and seen you rebuild one, got from offer up 😮in 2019 haven’t touched since cause of depression and family problems 😂im grown now but hoping to get a house for I can get my boat back to me! The water is my life even though I get to never touch it. Seeing you has given me a reason to work hard and get a truck! Lol never wanted to work on boats so much 😂❤
There's a product called Hull Cleaner! Works great, old strains come right off with a paper towel.
Good job. My 18' 2014 Tidewater with a 115 runs 48mph with a three balde prop.
Love it. Gotta do the same with my 16' Dauntless . . . Would LOVE to have that big console to work in. Gonna do mine in the garage and just take the whole console out rather than break the back. T-Top and leaning post mods I did a few years ago are gonna get a rethink. Probably lose most of the next season but will be a killer when done.
Been there done that, my hats off to you. Great job
Thank you!
Love the videos !!!
Thank you!!
I loved watching every minute
I know its going to sound crazy, but i use tire cleaner to clean stains on vinyl or any hard plastic surfaces. I was detailing my truck once and i had tire cleaner and sprayed the door panels and dude it was like magic same for the leather on the steering wheel dude its so much easier.
Try the magic eraser with a degreaser like purple power or simple green. Then wipe with 303 protectant. Great video!
As usual great job I like your attention to detail you did a fine job I appreciate your knowledge I do the same thing for a living in Louisiana I watch all your videos and I continue to learn thanks again
Thank you!
Awesome video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Would love to see a video of what you use to clean stains, mildoo, what to use and not use on seats and stuff like that!!
ua-cam.com/video/thVaxMXMQ58/v-deo.html
I found a product called rustigo it is for hard water laundry to get rid of any stains in glass fiber ,not it's intended purpose but it's as simple as applying and washing of
Hey give
Meguiar's M0116 Medium-Cut Professional Cleaner Compound a try. I have used it on boats, cargo trailers, aluminum, and trucks. All with VERY GOOD results.
It will make that motor shine. And probably remove the old green mess on the bottom. Not sure on that you may have to get a heavy cut compound to get that green off.
On the stained interior: have you tried ordinary 100% BLEACH?? It works wonders.
For it to really work it needs to have a product date of less than 3 months old and the industrial strength.
You have to order it special from a supplier that sells it. The PH is slightly higher than ordinary bleach.
When left on the shelf for longer than 3 months the PH of the bleach goes down.
I sprayed the roof of my woodshed that was green with mold and the roof came out in a few weeks like it was brand new.
I didn't even rinse it down; I just let the rain do it. By sitting there for some time it killed everything and dissolved it.
For the inside of the console, try some vinal seat paint from rustolium
Awesome. Thanks for sharing 👏👏👍👍
Muy buen video, saludos desde Argentina !!
I wonder if white shoe polish would work to “stain” the vinyl? Easy enough to test.
Years ago one of my friends was buying up old Mopars that had been neglected for years, the man was a magician.
He would take a car and do to it what you’re doing and the car would be spectacular. Most people are either to lazy or intimidated to revive old vehicles.
Great video, I watch these to try to learn new products etc for restoration.
nice job captain
the green paint is most def. some leftover paint used to save money..
Should get an ozone machine for those moldy compartments.
Use viagar and water in a hand sprayer and a kitchen for mold and reat bad arears.
Save time and $$$.
Wear a respirator dude - think about the future - it will come back to haunt you - better to deal with the heat and sweat now
Dont use water with the erasers. Use methylated spirits with it.
Marine31 mildew remover works great. A little pricey though.
another good vid
What are you panels made out that you attach the bilge pump and battery shut off?
Bleche white for car tires will work
My boat detailer taught me a trick to cleaning viynl. Use paint striper or acetone. It will remove anything. Just make sure you wash it and hit it with conditioner afterward! Love the channel, brotha!
my only question is - I live in Florida and since they changed the rules last time I bought a boat without the title ... how can you get one these days? - I would love to strip down something small and rebuild it as a two-person fishing boat and not be forced to use an inflatable due to the current obscene prices over the last few years -
It's a hard process and not a great one, that's for sure. You gotta file a police report for an abandoned boat, then they do an investigation that you have to pay for, and then if they can't find the owner then you go through the process of getting it retitled to you, but you would be liable for expenses and what not, it's not a good deal, I actually stay away from non-titled boats, unless you can find the owner of the title, it's a lot of work :/
Oooo she’s smokin’.
tou the man.
Thank you!
I missed how you fixed the steering? Plus, the final resolution and placement of the outboard?
The steering was just a power issue once I fixed the breaker the pump came back on :)
Im curious about the ECM swap. I believe you said the engine is a 300 and you took the ECM out and swapped it with a 225 or 250 or was it the other way around?
Just what the boat was rated for
@ sorry for the confusion with the way my question was worded. What I was curious about was did you switch the computer on the 300hp to make it 250 or did you make the 250 a 300 with the swap?
The boat looks good btw!
The boat looks good. What grit are you using while wet sanding?
1,000 Grit: amzn.to/3PetKZ9
Caps on during charging ,less chance of exploding from off gassing
What grit sand paper are you using to wet sand of the decals? And is that a 3m wheel your using first?
amzn.to/3C3oYun
and then the eraser wheel : amzn.to/4fLHZzm thats without the ribs
RMR-86 Stain remover
Why don't you use karcher for the floor ? This might help you go faster
I didn't know what karcher was, looks like pressure washers and what not :/ lol
@ yes pressure washers
Any good tips/products for cleaning the plastic windshield?
I like to use this: amzn.to/3ClxcxL
What is the brand of wire stripper/crimper you are using?
amzn.to/4j8mdJ6
So you use a separate stripper and crimper. Its not a combo tool? That's what it looks like on the video.
What model is the new vhf-radio?
amzn.to/4dYudZ9
How did you get a whaler salvaged in Florida
It was basically a repo where the owner didn't pay their bill for so long that they went through the process of taking the boat for payment of the bill. Once a bill gets high enough it's actually pretty easy, I think you do most of it through the Sheriffs office and the DMV but also have to put it in the paper, but after that the DMV gives you the title to the boat!
What buffing compound did you use on the gelcoat to get the shine?
Here's all the stuff:
Polisher: amzn.to/4eS7VK0
Double Sided Pad Adapter: amzn.to/48bv3AJ
3M Compounding Pad Double Sided: amzn.to/3Uigzcn
Presta SuperCut Compound: amzn.to/4h5zaT3
3M Polishing Pad: amzn.to/3Ufsl7B
3M Polish & Wax: amzn.to/4hafddE
How did you charge for that work ?
I come up with the number that makes sense for the owner and myself, every deal is different on projects like this
So how much is this boat for sale for now ?
Asking like $44,000
@@BornAgainBoating 😆
WD 40 will take off the adhesive.
What’s the price of the boat ,you did a really good job
The price to buy the boat is $43,000
Nice ! We'll deserved
Why would you swap the pcm from 300hp for 225?? Same weight same motor just different tune so why?
ABYC rating of the boat :/
I really like your work, for the glue from the stickers you can use TuffStuff and a wet rag and for the floor i used to clean it with Sani Flush, that will whiten everything good
Was wondering why you changed the 300 to 225
Boat rating :(
@@BornAgainBoating well with the jack plate an a transom toughener it should be ok cause engine weight is the same
@@garymesser4733not a good look overpowering a boat in-front of a large audience when this is your lively hood
"Bottoms up"? That's like naming an airplane "No lift" or "The stall".
That's were i left it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😊
You say boat sat 10 years. You can't trust a 10 year old battery on the water even if it took a charge
tie a knot in the wire so it dosnt pull out again
ah yes only in America would you spend all that cash on a nice whaler only to name it after a strip club. Klassi!
Use soft scrub to clean the white vinyl and fiberglass it's got a soft abrasive and bleach for cleaning. Its will make a moldy Bimini top look new with not a lot of effort. Just keep it moving and don't let it sit because it will bleach
17:35 Come on Man! A simple laundry bleach will take all of those moldy stains off permanently and will even look whiter than it's existing condition
Are you flipping this boat for a profit?
It is for sale yes, not really a flip for profit though, wish we could keep it, awesome boat!
@@BornAgainBoating Yes it is...that and the YT income.
omg
american nonstandards for wiring is illegal in my country. terrible system that can easily be simplified by a colour code system to make things basic and much more safer. not many boats get sold from america in my country. too far behind in technology
🙌🙌🛥️
to small
modern products are expensive gimmicks, use bleach on to clean stains, and a cheap old buffing compound with wax to polish stuff. modern crap is crap
This is not Restoration. Its a demolition.......
