She looks like she could use some love ,and if the original owners still have it its because it is loved ,I've had my 68 Camaro for over 40 years its part of my life
one owner - one that didn't take care of it. LOL
I had a 68 GTX and a 69 Roadrunner when I was younger. Great cars. Wish I still had them.
I remember as a teen, going by used car lots with cudas, chargers and challengers for sale for a few thousand dollars, but in those days a few thousand dollars was a large amount of money.
i had one too Belvidere gtx but was stripped out and ran on the strip, I built a 69 440 commando motor and put it back on the street. loved it but it ate gas bad, 4 mpg running premium
Bet ur bank account wishes that too.💵💸💰🪙🏧💵
I had been a big Mopar fan, since I was 5, when my Dad bought a new 68 R/T. So, I bought a 68 GTX for $1000 in 1980 when I was 17. It was a low optioned, yellow, 440, hemi 4 speed, 3.54 Dana car. I loved it! Someone stole it from in front of my parents house 6 months afterward. It was never found. I still dream about it now and then.
Find it its worth finding big dollars 💵
I bought a brand new Dodge Coronet R/T 440, Torqueflite car in March of '67. It of course came with 14 inch Redline tires. Those tires could be easily smoked beyond recognition in no time at all. What a great tork pig!!
This is THE Man ! When it comes to period correct MoPars !
Tony is great also with Mopar History....
Love the factory exaust installation all of the graveyard cars 🚗 videos are awesome
I'm becoming addicted to watching these videos. 😂
When I turned 21. I purchased a complete original, number matching, two owner 1969 Dodge Charger R/T with the 440 Magnum engine and 727 Torqueflite transmission from Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois. It was Sunfire Yellow, vinyl top delete, tail stripe delete, black interior with factory A/C and front power disc brakes and 8 way adjustable driver's seat. One of the unique features I found was the duel snorkel air cleaner from California with turndown tailpipes instead of the chrome tips. I had all the documentation with it as well as I met the original owner. I really miss that car. Unfortunately, I wound up homeless and had no place to store it back in 2004 and had to sell it. The VIN is recorded with the Dodge Charger Registry.
My '69 Charger was built in 1968, one of the first '69 model years and it had those exact same Magnum 500 wheels. So I'm guessing this was a late model '68 GTX which is why it had the '69 Magnum 500 wheels on it.
Better than new .These cars were rust buckets after six years where salt is used on road ways after leaving the factory . Giving these guys a big 👍🏻for doing this the right way .👍🏻
Most mopars didn't get under coating much like the Chevy novas,I've had 3 novas 69/70/72 no under coating
@@darrellsomers5427 Modern Mopars never rust cause they are coated well, shoot my cars pushing 6 and a half years old and has not one speck of rust on it and has even been in condtions with road salt.
I love the 68 GTX especially with the Hemi 4 speed I had a 68 roadrunner and it was loaded I mean it had power windows and had a bench seat with a armrest headrest in it yeah a.m. eight track had to tack and a Dash had to remote mirror on the left door had the rear window defroster dual speakers 391 Posse rear end I think it came that way from the factory had to turn signals on a Fenders even had a light in the trunk vinyl top 383 4 speed dark maroon with black vinal interior a light inside the glove box if I remember right absolutely beautiful car boy I miss that car it was my favorite car of all times wouldn't mind having a Hemi 4 speed GTX 68
great to see this episode.. thanks for posting it.. watching the exhaust part now.. perfect guys.. Thanks again
Wow , I have a 67 showcar GTX 440-4sd well documented w/photographs too .
One of one equals name your price. Ford guy here but love the content and passion you guys and girls deliver.
Came to watch these episodes as my good friend who is going through a tough divorce has a 68 RR 383+4spd that he built a 509 of a 400 for and now is putting together a 528 Hemi. NOS match car all original driveline intact and I being older and experienced in high perf engines have helped him along away a lot and he has been my hand too. The Hemi was going to go for his son's project till he turns 18, a 70 Barracuda but because of issues, it´s on hold. The elder sister just got a 5.7 Hemi Challenger as her first car...I´m sticking to my GMs...all the way from a 61 Vette to a 69 and a 70 SS396 Elky to a GMC Typhoon...
I owned a 1969 GTX B5 blue just like the one you did for the couple a few vids ago. Mine was the A-833 4-speed with an Inland shifter... I later learned that that wicked-looking shifter was a Hurst! My 'X' was ordered with a rear window defroster as an option. I later opted for a dealer-installed "Purple Cam" my ride was pretty fast (according to me 14.8 @ 112). Back in the day, I paid $3580 for the 'X', a hell of a lot cheaper than my first choice, a '69 L71 427/435-hp tri-carb Corvette coupe on or about $4,700 in 1969. I never regretted buying the 'X'!
That's not fast almost 15 seconds lol
@@darrellsomers5427 That's what I said... according to me!
@@darrellsomers5427 440-6 was only 305 net horsepower..what did you expect?
I had a 69 tri-power Vette/Convertible in 1980 as an Army E-1... could only afford to drive it two weeks out of the month. My AIT instructors all tried to buy it from me. Sold it as an E4 when I was in Germany, bought a Porsche 912 SC with the money. One of several cars I should have kept. 6 figure car today.
@@Bigsky1991 and any $50K car today could outrun it, so buy a new car and stop bitching.....
You’ll never outsmart this man when it comes to classic Mopar cars this man know every nuts and bolts, paint color and trim all the way to its release based on its VIN numbers.. highly recommend this big time!
He does know mopars
Thinks he knows mopars ,sure knows how to butcher them though
@@darwinfoster7420 hahaha
I had ordered a 1968 black GTX from Paul Wright Chrysler Plymouth located in Sparta Il, my GTX had red accent stripes on it. The car met its fate when my brother wrapped it around a tree on his high school prom night.
There is a plethora of EGO on that set on a daily basis. That being said I would definitely have my dream car built by that team.
I would rather chip goose or kindig designs in salt lake do mine
I owned a 68 Charger 383 4spd when I was 17 many moons ago and it was the same color and omg do I wish I didn't sell it when I joined the military but didn't have a place to store it.
Awesome 👍 job guys keep up the great work and BUILDs,.... MoparOrNoCar 671
Love the black Cuda 4spd!
Love your work! I had a yellow / black '68 GTX 440 4spd with the 3:54 Dana. Total bad ass car! Just curious, I thought all of the performance Mopar's had a cross-over , or H pipe, in the exhaust. Not so on the Challenger?
rhats better gears for it, when i tore out 373 gears i put a 410 dana in, sucked gas bad!
In HIGH SCHOOL HAD A BEAT UP 1968 SUPER BEE
THEN IN THE YEAR 1990 I BOUGHT A VERY NICE 1969 DODGE CHARGER I SOLD IT TO MY BROTHER IN LAW BIG MISTAKE I DREAM ABOUT THAT CAR....
I had a chance to buy a 69 GTX 440 Commando with Automatic transmission for 10 K back in the 90's ..B -5 blue . I have nightmares for letting that go now ... Regerts
Its a lovely vehicle.
Mark you should do a show on the Mod top cars.
You need to come to SC then. We have one in a storage shop with blankets covering it. No restro needed with a 4 speed and hemi 426.
All stickers and OG title.
Did anyone else notice the rust on that crossmember at 33:44 when they're putting the exhaust back in...
Royal looks great he just needs to finish the job that Mother Nature started and shave the rest of that dome clean son…. He’d look very gangster… in a suit ? Fawgetaboutit…💯💯💯
I think mark loves all cars he had an AMC most real gear heads just love cars we all have our favorites and what makes we have had the best luck with ,I don't hate Ford's but they hate me
Fabulous.
A one owner car-how did it get so thrashed?
Noticed at 40.23 you can see the spot welded seam swelled from rust underneath.
Drea
My dream car , I'll never be able to get one myself but nice seeing them though and I can always dream
I also had a 68 GTX. it had a healthy 440 in it. drive it nice about 10 mpg. who is going to drive it nice. then it went down to 5 mpg. :-)
Good show
When I do my 68 charger, I wanna do as much rust prevention steps as possible.
so what makes it one of one?
Even the Edsel has a following
QUESTION: I don't think Mr Worman explained why the customer of the yellow 68 GTXwas not charged for his 4 speed manual. Is it because it was a no-cost option?
Hey Mark, is Sven Goolie your brother?
nice job....i mean the camera guy.
5:20 So you did not order the car with the options you wanted back then? But the dealer bought put togheter a car and then sold it?
I agree
Only 1 rear speaker because it was only AM radio and there was no AM stereo so no need for 2 speakers 🤷🏻♂️
For the person with 1 ear. On top the head
I hv a 68 GTX 440 AUTO Y2 YELLOW (S) BLK ROCKER STRIPES HOOD BLACK OUT "BLACK PAINTED ROOF" W VYNIL TRIM... BLACK GUT.
MOPAR GURU SAYS NONE IN HIS REGISTRY 1/1 W PAINTED TOP.
"I like a nice, tight pipe."
"I bet you do."
Mark's face @ 38:38.
and his reply "no muff too tuff".. LOL
I had one the same color 383 4 speed
GTX is only came equipped with 440 cubic inch motors from the factory
Ice Goulie!!
I have a one o wer 1969 Plymouth road runner
It's about the money......simple as that.
I'm so sick of ads on UA-cam, every 5 mins, just redonkulous, main stream TV is bad enough with all the health insurance propaganda, UA-cam you can stop now with all the bulls*** ads 🤦♂️
I agree I mute the sound and don’t watch better than watching junk !
Get youtube premium.
I used to complain about the ads, no more.
I agree. It's franklin redonkulous.
@@granthubick8684 Best $13 a month you could possibly spend.
Actually Mark has control over the commercials, except UA-cam kicked him off the channel!
"691 Expedite" I'm guessing is an ASAP order.
No Chevys?
No?
Four speed GTXs were very common. What do you think is rare about this car?
I think it's the combination of options.
i was wondering the same thing some people think if there car is the only one built on a tuesday it is rare
440 mag
$32,897
Adjusted for inflation, $4,000 in 1968 is equal to $32,897 in 2022.
WTF happened to this GTX one owner restoration? Was it finished?
Did they change paint color from yellow to red?
Wow sure takes alot of commercial$ to get thru an episode...
cause its yellow ?
Your information is incorrect about the Phantasm Cuda'.. it's a 440 6 non shaker hood. Go back and watch the movie. Right after he goes to see the psychic and they pull the car into the driveway and pop the hood. They used different cars in different movies.
440-6 and hemicudas were all shaker hood. Iirc..
Do you know who was the real Iceman ?
I love seeing the finished cars... but if I saw this heap in a barn somewhere and the condition it was in? Wouldn't pay a dollar for it. No air grabber, ugly color, base engine, totally rotted. Not a hater, but it's not rare enough or interesting enough to fix.
I would changed the color this time around. Not a fan of that yellow.
Sell outs… not 😂
He did a 69 SC/Rambler many moons ago,
It would appear that he did hack jobs until he got famous. No matter how good he is now , that one car turn me off on his work
I wonder if he knows anything about classic Australian Mopar cars too
yes it's a cool car but the whole 1 of 1, 1 of 30, 1 of 120, thing makes no difference to me. If someone likes it, that's all that matters. Not everyone cares about resale value. Arguably my daily driver trailblazer is a 1 of 1....it's the 1 that I drive.
Ice is GR8 but I'm done with this commercial break stuff! Keep up the GR8 wrk. . I'm TAPN OUT!
Its 1 of a bunch of cars made. The 1 of 1 thing is ridiculous.
STINKING CLICK BAIT
As always, mark is talking about him instead of the car... shut up!
Less talk, please.
Too. Much. Corball humor.
