Mårten (guitarist, long black hair) wrote this one individually. This is easily their most straightforward track in their modern days. For the groovy chaos, check out Dancers to a Discordant System, ObZen, In Death, Behind The Sun, God He Sees In Mirrors, Swarm, Stengah, etc. Every single track since ‘94 is SICK.
It's a good one, but I do rather the off timing they usually bring. The chaos is what made me love them
Being center front stage against the barriers while they're playing this is beyond awesome 😎🤘
Best place to be for this.
And only place I can windmill in good conscience 😅
Yeah mate been there an un fucking forgettable experience
Dude, your perception of metal is going to shift yet again if you explore Meshuggah's catalogue. I'm stoked you've gotten to this point! Tool themselves have admitted (and as a result brought Meshuggah on tour with them at least a couple of times -- the first time I saw Meshuggah play live) a huge influence from them -- especially regarding polyrhythms, etc.
They redefined metal for sure.
I love the fact that my country, Sweden, has produced so many great metal bands despite having less than 10 million people the last 30 years. Opeth, Bathory, Meshuggah, In Flames, At the Gates, Arch enemy, Amon Amarth, Sabaton, Soilwork, Katatonia and many more. In fact the influence from Swedish bands can be heard in most metal music that has been made since the 1990s. Melodic Death and Black Metal have their roots here for example. Our brothers in Norway and Finland also have a lot of good bands.
Love to our Northern brothers from the UK
I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of Meshuggah, but their "trick" is a pretty good one. Hypnotize you with an odd groove that goes on for a while, subtly switch it up, and then catch you off guard with a long riff that seems to never repeat/settle. This is one of their tracks I really like though.
I think Clockworks, Straws Pulled at Random, Rational Gaze and Combustion are insane. What adds to how awesome they are is that they sound just like the album or better EVERY TIME live, and still do despite being pretty seasoned musicians now.
One of my favorite things to see is people falling in love with a Meshuggah song.
I'm from Buenos Aires Argentina, a couple years ago they came and played at this theater at Flores. Anyways I was high on weed and LSD. That was the greatest show and chest blast I've ever experienced.
For me this song is the definition of _heavy_. It feels THICK, dense, and when you listen to it its impossible not to make the face you make when smelling something bad. I love it.
Nine Inch Nails: March Of The Pigs (1994)
Right where it belongs
with visuals re: Lights in the Sky Tour
the majority of Meshuggah's music is based around rhythm. I suggest listening to "Bleed" or "Do not look down"
good observation. The drummer THOMAS HAKKE is known for that 4/4 high hat that is groove glue, all the while following the crazy times of the guitars , with his feet. brilliance
I think the tempo of their songs is perfect for sounding actually heavy. Some bands play heavy music faster, but it loses something for me. Meshuggah is the heaviest band I’ve ever heard, and part of it is the slower tempo that makes the riffs sound just crushing.
Well said brother!
This track is so damn heavy, it makes me laugh with joy and excitement almost every time I listen to it🙂
Definitely one of their simpler tracks, but a little sprinkling of super heavy, more straight forward sanity once in a while is a good thing🤘
for choppy and drops, not much is gonna top this drop. genius music.
Big Fan from Brazil, more Meshuggah please, . Straws pulled at random is one of their best songs ever .,couple of best songs for you to react. Marrow, break those Bones whose sinews, New Millenium cyanide christ, obzen, corridor of chameleons, future breee machine.
Thanks for watching brother!
Awesome will be sure to check them out thanks for the recommendations!
Danny Carey loves this drummer! 🤯🤯🤘🏼
Meshuggah, Clockworks drum playthrough video!!!! GO!
Seconded!
I love it when you're just starting to get hypnotised by the drop and then they hit you with second one which is even heavier and just melt your face completely off.
Some goods songs of theirs to do next: Closed Eye Visuals, Straws Pulled At Random, New Millennium Cyanide Christ, Perpetual Black Second, Dancers To A Discordant System and Lethargica
Perhaps try Yogev Gabay's treatment of Meshuggah notation using Indian verbal and kinesthetic classical collective memory matrix kinda thing.
Meshuggah use sequences of numbers in a computer to write their music, including all instruments, then learn them by wrote afterwards. So kinda time-signatures by not entirely
Anything from MESSUGHA IS AMAZING...
absolutely love meshuggah and all their music. bleed is nuts, also the abyssmal eye
Meshuggah, The abysmal eye, this one is like taking a train to the face
when you eventually get to Dancers of a Discordant System by Meshuggah , that video will be amazing
Those strains you’re feeling are definitely the result of a choppy face headbang haha 😂
CHOP CITY MESHUGGA !!!!!
I love your expression when the song kicks off, probably a wrong read, but to me it seemed like the urge to headbang with a hint of confusion lol.
“Bleed” is more their signature song (choppier).
Welcome to my garage from 2012. Good god if I could have only had someone else to enjoy this with me while getting drunk....
Nabil Fekir listening Meshuggah! Brutal! Mucho Betis!
It's your standard 4/4 beat but they play it with polyrhythms so you're completely right in saying its well off beat. Defo a solid workout track when you figure it out
Another Banger 🔥😎✌️
Part of this video was filmed in nyc. I was at this show. They opened up with this banger after their intro. The floor was insane. Also their light tech is the best!
Nine Inch Nails - We're In This Together
🤘😎🤘 my only favorite metal band. They are the TooL of metal 😉👉 have fun with this band. I'll let everyone make their suggestions and watch 🤘
i love this song so much and this band. i saw them live last year and they played this song as the first song of the encore. and i cant explain it really what this is. but after more than 1 hour of meshuggah crazyness live they come with this and everyone is going nuts. i love meshuggah to death. their song "dancers to a discordant system" is another must
Meshuggah: Straws Pulled At Random!!!!!!!
Yessir great choice, probably my favorite meshuggah song. Shit sounds like a doom song on steroids 😂. Some other bangers by Meshuggah are Obzen, Rational Gaze, Dehumanization, and do not look down
One hell of a drummer. Definitely making the CHOPPY PLAYLIST. LOL. 🤞
Damn right haha!
this is the hardest song to play in the gym idgaf
Upon a burning body !! Donnie Brasco 🤌🤌
Your musical I.Q. is expanding
Thanks my friend I hope so haha!
Awesome! Thanks for checking out one of my favs, I knew you'd dig it!
Now you get why I love Meshuggah so much, it's the only band I know where every instrument, including vocals, plays rhythm section
Team Choppy Drops!
I’ve never heard this song, but I have a feeling it sounds like the last song I heard from them. 😂
I got to see Meshuggah open up for Tool back in 2001 and that show was epic.
Loved it man such an awesome band!
TEAM CHOPPY DROPS!
It's like being rhythmically beaten with a sledgehammer
More Meshuggah please. Perhaps "Do Not Look Down"
Meshuggah uses 4/4 time signatures in the snare throughout most of their music where the bass pedal and all the rest of the band plays completely different time signatures
sevsimo, how about some INDUSTRIAL METAL? May I suggest NINE INCH NAILS. Trent Reznor is an ICONIC FRONTMAN. ✌️🤞
I would _love_ Meshugah if the vocals weren't so growly. I appreciate the help out of them. And I keep coming back to them every now and then to see how I feel about them.
But not yet, at least. Which is a shame. I could groove on a lot of their rhythmic ideas.
He's just an extra percussionist with the vocals.
Check out alex terrible meshuggah cover if you want modern style vocals over meshuggah
dude nice video!!! meshuggah are masters of chops!! you need to check out for a video tesseract concealing fate!! part 123 if possible all 6 parts you will love them!! trust me!! full of nasty chops
Amazing video man! Love your Meshuggah reactions!
I think you’d looove Corridor of Chameleons
It’s a meshuggah track that not all reactors get to but it’s a BANGER
Thanks man really appreciate it and thanks for watching!
Awesome will be sure to check it out thank you!
whoever said this kind of job is easy didn't know what they were talking about.
Justin Chancellor styled Rosetta Stoned The Pot and 7empest after Meshuggah
sevsimo, How about some STEVIE RAY VAUGHN. Check out his cover of Jimi Hendrix's VOO DOO CHILD live from NASHVILLE. His performance will blow your mind and ears. 🤞✌
Can't go wrong with Meshuggah. Their guitar player Fredrik Thordendal is the mastermind behind their kind of noodly, ambient, and psychedelic sounds on top of the complex rhythms. Their drummer, Thomas Haake, actually writes the song lyrics and helps with the song composition. Fun stuff! PLEASE check out the song New Millennium Cyanide Christ (ua-cam.com/video/4A_tSyJBsRQ/v-deo.html). The official video I linked is hilarious, and the song is amazing.
for some absolutely insane drumming, definitely check out their song called clockworks! i feel like it's a little less accessible than bleed or demiurge, but it's still such a good fucking song all 4 of haake's limbs do different things the entire song it's crazy
By the Ton next please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
HELL yeah... MESHUGGA FOR THE WIN... YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED....DJENT meets Chop...GREAT COMBO...
Ahhh yes, you've finally let them in... Now the only question is which awesome level of Meshuggah will you explore next, further altering your DNA?
Still waiting on that spite killed or be killed reaction!
You're straining your neck head banging because you are keeping your neck and shoulders tense...gotta keep loosey goosey and dont be afraid of your brain just splating against your skull on the inside...
Abiogenisis-visualizer
Nine Inch Nails - Wish
This song is pure GRIME, it's FILTHY and I love it.
Have a CHOPPY afternoon mate.
You too man!
The breakdown always makes one look like they smell poop lmao
Great tune! I think it's just pronounced Demi urge but I've also never heard anyone say it so I could be wrong. It's just a 4/4 time but I love unconventional beats.
Great reaction man. If you want chops, progressiveness (is that a word?) and playing with time signatures: more Meshuggah! Why not something live from The Ophedian Trek (2013).
Thanks man!
I believe it is haha awesome will check it out!
If you want some more 8 string shreddy choppiness check out
Beyond Creation - Earthborn Evolution
Beard is on point by the way 🤘🏻
Love me some shreddy choppiness!! Will check it out!
Haha cheers my friend!
It doesn't get heavier than Meshuggah. If you like the time signature stuff a nice next one is Do Not Look Down/The Ophidian trek ua-cam.com/video/FE7AuXNi2rU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Meshuggah
If u want choppy anything from meshuggah is choppy they are the godfathers of djent u would like rational gaze from them
Too much to choose from with these guys. System overload. Try Stengah from the Nothing album... classic sweet stuff. Haake is a monster.
I know everybody equals Meshuggad with Bleed these days but Dancers to a Dischordent System from same album also has true payoff. Meshuggah are just sooo intense and those time signatures are beyond odd....
dancers to a discordant system is absolutely magnum opus material, it's so fucking good
Some perfect gym music would be Dyscarnate - "Iron Strengthens Iron"
ua-cam.com/video/3Lrjiqph1PE/v-deo.html
Not my kind of music because of the “rah-rah” singing but I dig the chunkiness
