Meshuggah is one of the fucking best. They mess with signatures and timing but there is *always* a groove to headbang to. Demiurge is one of the better tracks off that album. Clockworks is great off the newest one. The whole Obzen album is fantastic. Check out "Do Not Look Down" and "Bleed", or older stuff "New Millennium Cyanide Christ", "Concatenation" or "Rational Gaze".
if you want to hear how technical meshuggah really is you should listen to the violent sleep of reason, or bleed. this is a band that really can mess with your mind when it comes to rythym, they use a LOT of sycopation. It's all felt in 4/4 so you can groove but the guitars are rarely actually in 4/4
I thought they were somewhat repetitive when I first encountered Meshuggah. There was something about it that drew me back, which was the highly complicated, multiple seemingly competing rhythms that ultimately work together in a way that is actually very non-repetitive rhythms and grooves masquerading as repetition.
eye would say that may be true of a lot of us here - or at least to say certain elements of their sound took a little while to overcome (for me it was the vocals), but there are clearly so many of the right elements in place for the type of music they're doing, once you have been snagged by their gravitational pull, you are theirs. sonic accretion.
Meshuggah is a long time fav, finally getting around to seeing them this summer! They’re so absurdly heavy and are individually ridiculously talented musicians Love it, should do Bleed by Meshuggah next!
Meshuggah - mouth licking what you´ve bled. There´s no video for this one but this song is from IMHO, their apex album and this is probably their best song to date
'solid fucking request' haha first song of theirs that stood out to me was 'shed' (with the official music video), so i'd recommend that. tbf all of their official videos are great. peace bro.
React to Rational Gaze! (Clockworks is another great one that will probably be recommended more often-- it's off their newest album. RG is just my personal favorite.) I feel like Demiurge is a great gateway song for people new to this type of metal, but if you're already into it via other bands, it's not the most indicative of Meshuggah's vibe. That being said, it's a wonderful, powerful, earth-shattering song.
I agree with all these suggestions, I'd choose Clockworks for you to react. Man, the song and the video, so fucking messy and amazing. Check out all the other songs people is recommending, Meshuggah has not a bad damn song. Love this channel!
This is defiantly one of the simpler meshuggah tunes, they have some insane rhythms, most famously the amount of subtle variations throughout the song bleed:
If you want to listen to what you hear when you enter hell, listen to any of the songs from the Doom soundtrack by Mick Gordon. I recommend checking out Rip & Tear or BFG Division
Definitely what you would hear when you enter hell ready to kill everything there! He has sick playthrough/music videos for both of those awesome tracks!
I've loved Meshuggah since I heard Destroy, Erase, Improve back in the 90s. We got the DJ to play Future Breed Machine one Wednesday night on pound a pint night. He told us afterwards he would never, ever play em again. Coventry DJs 🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
It's also really complex. Listen to the notes the guitars move to and when they move. The time during the third riff of the song is absolutely insane. If someone wants to try and explain that to me I'm really interested. This is perhaps my favorite Meshuggah song. So simple yet SOOOOO complex.
Don't know if anyone ever pointed in that direction, but maybe you'd enjoy GODFLESH. As my nick might suggest, I really do ;) When it comes to intensity and repetitivness they are one of a kind, too. While their first album 'Streetcleaner' is still pretty raw ("Like Rats" or "Christbait Rising"), albums like 'Pure' or 'Selfless' even add some machine-based sterility to that wall of sound....
can i suggest to you a pair of headphones to better appreciate the music this channel offers you? Audio Technica M40x -- $99 USD give or take, some even come with a portable amp if you're out with a laptop that doesnt pump enough power for the headphones. I highley suggest these over your current drivers we see every video, you'll hear every little detail and for 100 dollars now that the newer models are out its a steal, I bought mine new along with my new studio mic and i have no complaints. very good to tell how good the studio work and mastering of the song was. also helps distinguish which live bands are better.
The intro to "Break those bones whose sinews gave it motion" is heavy enough to have its own gravitational pull
One of my favourite 'shuggah songs!
Dan Lindberg...one if my favs and Don't Look Down.🤘🤘
amazing song, the best one!
You should react to their video for New Millennium Cyanide Christ. Best video ever
Mike Caputo Hah - beat me to it!
Mike Caputo You're goddamn right
BEST FUCKING VIDEO EVER
I find "Rational Gaze" even funnier :)! With Jens Kidman, "playing" all instruments - with a real passion :D
AbsuF*uckinlutely
Clockworks. awesome song even better video
Definitely their best shit for a decade. Must check for shure
Should also check the drum play through they uploaded its pretty awesome
Definitely the Drum Playthrough !
Dude clockworks got me into meshuggah
clockworks, bleed, rational gaze, dancers to a discordant system and all the others people are suggesting. its a must!
Check out their New Millennium Cyanide Christ official music video - very enjoyable, and funny too. They don't take themselves too seriously. Cheers!
I've heard everything about Meshuggah... but simplistic it's not what I expected to hear ;-)
javimm77 Exactly my first thoughts! How ever in your right mind can you ever call Meshuggah simplistic😂
this song is relatively simple asf for meshuggah
Wait to when he hear "I" by Meshuggah
@@poixone fr though I've only been playing the guitar for about a year and a half now and I can tackle most of this song with relative ease
My ABSOLUTE favorite song by them. Absolute banger. It's like they calculated all the right instrument/rhythm combos to hit SO hard in this song.
Great reaction man, I fuckin love Meshuggah. I highly recommend you check out there song Bleed
Meshuggah is one of the fucking best. They mess with signatures and timing but there is *always* a groove to headbang to.

Actually most of what they do is in 4/4, they just use Polymeters and odd timings a lot which makes it sound like odd signatures
Syncopated notes over a 4/4 beat* is how it was described to me once.
No one ever mentions the song "Combustion", that's the song that really got me into Meshuggah.
Demiurge is a Gnostic term. It's basically the energy of existence.
The one thing Meshuggah aren't, is to be technically simplistic or simple.....
this song is tho
lol
It's actually the opposite.
Meshuggah are literally the most complex simple band there is.

The string bending in the second riff is fucking orgasmic. So heavy and groovy.
They're heavy as hell.... I saw them playing live here in Dublin. Such a great experience
Meshuggah is a long time fav, finally getting around to seeing them this summer!
They’re so absurdly heavy and are individually ridiculously talented musicians
Love it, should do Bleed by Meshuggah next!
These guys started djent and all spin-off bands like them
seen Meshuggah in January in London and they nailed it! one of the best gigs i've ever been to

Dancers to a discordant system is soooo good!
Meshuggah - mouth licking what you´ve bled. There´s no video for this one but this song is from IMHO, their apex album and this is probably their best song to date
headbangs THE WHOLE FUCKING VIDEO START TO FINISH. fuck yeh. It's exactly how you listen to it. good on ya!
You can't not headbang to this song.

Listen to "Bleed" and "Clockworks" by Meshuggah!
And for Gojira, listen to "Love" (live rock in rio 2015)
'solid fucking request' haha first song of theirs that stood out to me was 'shed' (with the official music video), so i'd recommend that.
tbf all of their official videos are great. peace bro.
One of the best extreme metal bands
u missed out the MOST HEAVY song of meshuggah (voted by the community)
"Break Those Bones Whose Sinews Gave It Motion"
React to Rational Gaze! (Clockworks is another great one that will probably be recommended more often-- it's off their newest album. RG is just my personal favorite.)

Absolutely right!.Heavy,Heavy. . but gotta try "Bleed" or " cyanide christ for sure.....Hey hey hey....it's Jinjer Friday coming up!!...hahaha....."that lady"...Yay
Discovered this band by this video! Keep it up, not the first time :D
I agree with all these suggestions, I'd choose Clockworks for you to react. Man, the song and the video, so fucking messy and amazing. Check out all the other songs people is recommending, Meshuggah has not a bad damn song. Love this channel!
When I saw Meshuggah live, they played this, and my face melted
Id say this is the most headbanging song by meshuggah, imo that is
"That must be what you hear when you enter hell" - Couldn't have putt it better myself.
It took a decade-plus for bands like Periphery to start emulating and building on Meshuggah's sound. 'Beneath' is a favorite from them.
This is defiantly one of the simpler meshuggah tunes, they have some insane rhythms, most famously the amount of subtle variations throughout the song bleed:
“I feel like I’ve just been ran over” hahaha love it
React to one of the most underrated Meshuggah songs ever - 'SWARM' 😉 prepare for an eargasm and another neckache.
If you love live videos, you should check The Bad Thing or Psychosphere by Periphery !
The visual is dope and so the songs !
break those bones who's sinews gave it motion
Thought I heard you say you were interested in drumvideos too. Meshuggah has a recording from their new record with the song Nostrum ^^ worth it
Do "Break Those Bones Whose Sinews Gave It Motion" off the same album by Meshuggah. Grooves on this track are disgustingly awesome.
You should react to some Vildhjarta!
Thall.
I second this. Maybe Shadow?
James Or "All These Feelings"
espron24 Dagger perhaps
Has to be Traces
Dagger is love
I love the bridge middle of this one...the bridge? I guess it is???...it's a riff on the verse....insanity...
I've never heard someone say "horrible" in a positive way.
You should check out their song Future Breed Machine
Joseph Bastidas Futile Bread Machine
If you want to listen to what you hear when you enter hell, listen to any of the songs from the Doom soundtrack by Mick Gordon. I recommend checking out Rip & Tear or BFG Division
Definitely what you would hear when you enter hell ready to kill everything there! He has sick playthrough/music videos for both of those awesome tracks!
I was head banging so hard, I almost broke my neck after I picked up my head form the other side of the room.
Relentlessly heavy is correct my good sir.
@ 3:56 "That must be what ya hear when ya enter hell... hell." hahaha nice one!
check them out live.....best way to appreciate them.

That shit kicks ass!
Some Meshuggah songs definitely fuck with your brain as well!
Where have you been, this song is really old! :)
That was the live performance. That's what they sound like live....
They are from Umeå, Sweden. My hometown. \m/
Should check out Clockworks next!
This is an amazing song love it
It's also really complex. Listen to the notes the guitars move to and when they move. The time during the third riff of the song is absolutely insane. If someone wants to try and explain that to me I'm really interested. This is perhaps my favorite Meshuggah song. So simple yet SOOOOO complex.
Do clockworks next, it's insanely technical track.
"That must be what you hear when you enter hell" "I feel like I've just been run over" 🤣 Love these guys. Raw, Heavy, off beat destruction!

There's a good live video on it.

Insomnium - While We Sleep
DANCERS TO A DISCORDANT SYSTEM
you should react to humanities last breath they take a lot of inspiration form these guys
Check out Clockworks by Messhuggah. ITs crazy heavy, but also very technical.
Also for a combination of mega heavy and how low can you tune check out After The Burial, A Wolf Amongst Ravens. Its just mind bendingly low tuned.
you should check another Swedish Band:RAISED FIST!!!
can i suggest to you a pair of headphones to better appreciate the music this channel offers you?
