- As central Indiana continues to be gripped by sub-freezing temperatures, area residents are searching for creative ways to stay warm in adverse conditions
Yeah I'm sitting here at home and I'm watching this. It's cold here too. I live in a camper. And I have heat. And I'm able to bring my dog inside along with my cats so they won't be cold. And for that I am thankful. Watching this just made me realize I have a lot to be thankful for.
It's cold, especially with that wind, my fingers started freezing within minutes, with some work gloves on. If your in a tent, they need to put a cover hanging from inside, that will help keep heat in. Maybe even a canvas on outside over the tent.
Same here. It’s snowing and 15 degrees here in Nashville and I’m thankful because God could put me in that position.
Hey nothing wrong with that.smart enough not to pay this out of this world rent so don't knock yourself.I want something like that later or just a small two bdr later.Funny how our ideas of life change after we get older and grow wisdom😊stay warm
Same exact situation bro. Down to the camper and everything. I have been homeless before and like you said, I am so grateful.

@@WarHawk- you're right the dog has the choice to live in that tent (hopefully) or go to an overloaded shelter, not get adopted and be put down. I'm not saying a cold dog isn't devastating bc it is. You just have to be a realist of what will happen if animal control picks it up. It's life will most likely be a lot longer if it endures the cold with it's humans. The dog isn't super skinny so at least it's being taken care of. Obviously it shouldn't be outside in the elements but neither should the humans. They were offered a place to stay but they refused.
You can only do so much for them.
Bring your animals inside where it's warm, it's too cold for them to be outside.
I'm not sure what the man interviewed wants anyone to do. He and his wife won't go to a shelter, so the only other alternative seems to be the tent - unless they want hotel accommodations. When I saw the temperature in the renters' home read 65, I thought to myself, "That's what we keep ours set at night." 68 during the day. Electric space heaters are so dangerous. Their landlord does need to fix the heat. And someone needs to rescue that poor dog!
Same here in the southern Appalachians. Plenty of shelters but they don't want to follow the rules. They have plenty of resources to get alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, iphones, large dogs, tattoos and piercings but somehow they're victims and those who have made good choices , denied themselves many things and worked all their adult lives are the oppressors. I worked at a soup kitchen cooking breakfast a few years ago and the clientele was mostly very thankful and honestly a pleasure to be around. That started changing rather quickly about a decade ago. The people got younger, confrontational and frequently violent. The facility closed and the leftists were outraged. Oh well.
I don’t understand 65 degrees being a great disaster. Owner does need to fix the furnace. Certainly you need to wear extra clothing but most can do ok in 65 degrees.

Poor doggies had to get paired up with owners too stupid and stubborn to accept government help and a clean lifestyle. They would rather do drugs.
Right bc everyone who's homeless is a drug addict. Don't live paycheck to paycheck and lose your job.
Judgmental much?
The dog needs warm weather gear and if the owner plans on keeping him with him keep him in the tent… as for the people hopefully they get an upgrade… for the dogs sake of course 😉(jk incase anyone didn’t get that)
The dog in the tent will make the tent warmer, too.
Could be worse….. temperatures here in Wyoming have been from -40 to -20 below and I sure don’t have anyone buying me propane. I’m living in a cheap rv so I’m a step above a tent but barely. Regardless I hope and pray the cold passes soon…… for everyone.

Why are they allowed to break laws and do what they please, but I can’t build a fence without a building permit-or have a dog without properly caring for it? Why are responsible people penalized, and other people get a free ride?
@AM-uh7mv Most people immediately rush to virtue signal and claim one has no empathy. However, it’s my opinion that they only do this with shallowness and not really thinking about the situation. From what I’ve encountered, if you ask them to get involved and sacrifice their own money or property all of a sudden they have a different mindset. They only want YOU to have empathy when they don’t need to commit to anything. I’m guessing that if some homeless lowlifes moved in next to your house and started smoking crack, hollering at 3 AM drunk, or throwing their trash in your yard you would have a different attitude towards it. I’ve had that happen. Have you ever had some homeless person walk into your yard and piss on your hard work while drunk-right in front of you? I happen to live in a city where homeless have been trying to sleep in city parks and other areas, and they’ll curse you and take a dump right in front of you. They have zero respect for the community. They throw their trash on the ground, try to intimidate people, ignore the laws and authorities, and do whatever they please. They think that “homeless” is some entitlement to come in and live in the community without any responsibility or obligation to follow the rules. Our city happens to have three shelters-well stocked with volunteers and resources, but they DON’T allow drug use or alcohol consumption. Therefore, you have these people who refuse their help and decide that they’re going to thumb their nose at the community and live under a tarp and do what they please. Is it really empathy to allow that to go on, or is it enabling their behavior? Please educate yourself on what these people really are like instead of simply virtue signaling other’s to “have empathy” as an easy feel-good response for something I’m guessing you know nothing about firsthand. If you had to put up with them in your backyard I’m sure you would feel differently.
Don't have Animals if you don't love them enough to treat them safe .
*HOMELESSNESS IS A CHOICE!*
my heart breaks. i hope someone got them in a shelter but then ALL shelters, are full of newcomers. please someone save the dog.
If by save it would be a kill shelter. Or do you try to pretend most dog at shelters don’t get out down. Especially an old outbull.
@@oldironsides4107 I am talking about a homeless shelter!!! Fool and there are plenty of rescue shelters for pets. Double fool!
Lord help us all.
It’s ruff… it’s ruff…. Poor dog 😢….
Have compassion on them- this is going on regardless of people working.
help them God be with them I lived in my car thru South Dakota winters and almost died am in a homeless shelter now but can't be forever
Where I live they have shelters that are men and women. When its lights out you have to separate. We also have a building for code blue 20 degrees or lower. This has men and women in the same room. The 1 shelter actually allowed someone to keep their cat. For these people its a choice. Sometimes you have to do what's needed to survive.
Animal control needs to get that dog immediately
I have tried reaching out to the news covering the story. I live I oregon. I am trying to figure out who to call
Go ahead and call. Animal control will put that dog down. Those homeless people are keeping that dog alive. Good luck getting animal control to respond in Kentucky. People don't adopt bully breeds like pitbulls
@@user-pm3ee2si5y you're a douche.
Are they? It's not going to stay alive for very long being that cold! It's a painful way to die. If the homeless people where even a little decent they would bring the dog in the tent with them. But clearly their not. It's better the dog die in a shelter then to live with heartless drug addicts. So sad and not fair for it!!@@user-pe2rz5wb9p
@@user-pm3ee2si5yDid you find any info out? I’m trying to find someone in the comments that lives near that area
It is 65 degrees in my NC home.tough breaks
Please churches, community centers open for the people, animals😢
Years spent up far north have shown me how to build a shelter from basically nothing. Even the snow.
I live in a city, but I made sure I took my children into the country and taught them how to make a fire/shelter/rope ladder, etc. I'm so glad I did because look what's happened over the years...
You might have a shelter that’ll keep you alive but you’ll still be cold
@@MadGunny have you ever been inside of an igloo they actually get pretty warm.
Nanook of the north, is that you??
Anyone come jumping out at you from behind your igloo?? Peek a boo-ooo-oo-oooo. Heading down to Saint Alfonzos for the pancake breakfast are you?? Stop abusing the sausage patty ...
@@lancelink29 are you a teenager or on drugs?
I feel bad for the dog & kids. They can’t help living like that. The woman that gave her kids to their grandmother did the right thing. The owner of that dog needs to surrender the dog to ASCPA. Unacceptable 😖😢👎🏽
Bless the Homel😢ess Lord. I was once homeless. But never outside in the cold. Lord i thank you. May he shelter all. And they stop with the drug usage
So sad. I just got heat and hot water back on after many months without. Thanks to kind friends and neighbors. God has blessed me. I am warm tonight and have a big pot of chicken soup and biscuits.
Life choices.
For the folks saying 65 isn't that cold, remember it's that warm because of the three little space heaters. 65 is probably the warmest the house can get and it's probably worse at night.
Its only 65 in my house as well with the furnace running. Its not that cold.
@@fzz188same here in North Carolina.
@@fzz188 to me it's not cold at all, 60 is comfortable for me at night 65 is normally what I set my ac to in the summer.
@@fzz188 65 isn't that bad if you have the choice to make it warmer or cooler. I usually have my heat set to 68. My point is that 65 is probably the highest they can get it with those three heaters. Imagine is one of them stopped working!
@@peryole I would turn into an ice cycle if I put my AC on 65! That and my electric bill would be more than my rent! I live in Texas so I guess I'm just use to being warm most of the year. In the summer my AC stays in the mid to lower 70s.
These are the people we should be helping people that live here and know the weather and are trapped in this. 😢
I was waiting for the bus, it was SO cold. I thought about the homeless. I feel bad for them. The dog needs to go to the animal shelter. Poor baby.
