Hi Dan, just wanted to comment thank you for constantly providing these wonderful videos. I struggled with a chronic ankle injury (literally wore a walking boot everywhere) for almost two years and was strongly recommended surgery (even though doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong) before I found Dr. Sarno's book and then your channel. After learning about TMS I chose not to get surgery and instead tried to go about life without the walking boot as the pain was all in my head. It was quite terrifying at first -- I would barely leave my house, and if I did, I would obsessively count the minutes I spent walking/standing a day and have freak outs if I felt like I was going over a supposed "time limit". But when the fear was at its worst I would listen to your videos, and they would help calm me down and convince me not to give up. Fast forward two months of training myself to walk without a boot/walk even when I was in pain, my symptoms completely went away! I could go out with friends again, exercise, and live my life without worrying about my ankle in the least.
Looking back, I credit listening to your daily videos as a huge part of what helped me push past doubts and fears on this recovery journey, and I just wanted to thank you for all the work that you do. It makes me sad that this practice is not considered conventional medicine, but I am glad that you are using your channel to educate and help others recover despite the shortcoming in our healthcare system. Thank you!!

That was Phil Saucedo in the rheumatoid video who did his hour meditation in the morning, and
his visualisation in the evening, and got on with his life the rest of the day. It's my favourite video, but it took him a couple of years and being mentored to reach the point where he could do that. He'd been struggling really badly for a long time. I think it's so important for people to use the strategies they need to use to get them to a place of strength. Phil had done DNRS, he had coaching, he had his meditation and visualisation practices, he read a lot of books. For others it might be diet or some sort of somatic tracking. Whatever it takes to help feel safe. We're all so different.

Exactly. This is why it is so important to be mindful of what we say to people. Telling someone that this doesn't work when it could be a crucial piece for them is letting our own opinions get in the way. Phil took his recovery into his own hands and figured it out with a lot of different approaches, which is what I had to do.

Thoughts become things !! I watched a film yesterday about this guy who does a lot of stuff around this and at one point he was in a new relationship and was uncomfortable with silences. So in a silence he said ‘I’m sooo tired’. Guess what, after a few weeks, he was literally exhausted !! So use the opposite - I’m ok , I’m healthy, I’m strong, I’m happy, I have energy etc etc

Words have power - choose wisely... 🙏
Rather than just talking, I personally find music helps calm my brain a lot. Throughout the day, I sing songs (either out loud or in my head) that are meaningful and uplifting.. The more I sing the words - the better it feels... 😊 🎶
My favourite at the minute is "Love My Life" by Robbie Williams... ❤❤❤

Sing out loud! Or humming to the music... it helps stimulate the vagas nerve and activate the parasympathetic nervous system.. relaxation 😊. I sing out loud in my car now all the time! Makes me feel great.

It felt like self gaslighting while doing it nonstop. I think my body rebelled and instead turned up the dial to 15. Guess my type A personality though it had to be done perfectly to see progress.
I'll just focus on indifference and acceptance. Changing focus. Do one short meditation and visualization before waking, and a short pep talk, and leave it at that.
Thanks Dan. Needed this one. Be well ❤️

I've recently started doing cold plunges / ice baths in the morning... It is a great 90 seconds to give myself a pep talk to start the day and let my brain know everything is okay.... The brain and body really connect in the ice water; it's like, saying "hey you're sitting in freezing water and you're okay! If you can do this, anything is possible". Not to mention how great you feel for hours after because of the dopamine release you get from them😂.
Thanks Dan, for sharing daily inspiration, reminders, and success stories. You're helping me and so many.

Theres that 4 stages idea of knowing...

The same concepts apply. But do your best to change your internal and external dialog. Teaching the brain you are safe is key. Do your bet to not focus on or speak about how tired you are. Flip the script. This is from a comment above on this same video. It's brilliant. "Thoughts become things !! I watched a film yesterday about this guy who does a lot of stuff around this and at one point he was in a new relationship and was uncomfortable with silences. Dear Mr. Dan, I truly believe that chronic stress is the cause and fear is the result of elevated stress hormones which causes depression, frustration and chronic pain. I have seen testimonies of healing cases just by starting to change thoughts and relying on meditation and visualisation. Will the brain stop fear on its own? I had a bad experience last night, severe heartburn.

    • @sherylmarshall1444
      @sherylmarshall1444 Місяць тому +4

As long as you stop the fear circuits of the brain. For me that means brain training. Just don’t get too obsessed by routine. However if you swap your fear dialogue to safety and gradual exposure of your triggers. You will get symptoms but it will slowly get better if you can remain calm and unbothered by symptoms. That is brain retraining. Although I love the curable app as it gives you support

That indicates the brain still perceives food and beverage to be the problem. Do you have IC or bladder issues due to TMS and a brain perceiving danger? Fear of eating or drinking the wrong thing can be overcome with clarity and reintroduction of those things. This helps. ua-cam.com/video/mRowJmW4uk0/v-deo.html

I find that if I stack acidic foods my brain signals danger and I get bladder bloat, but gone by next morning. Maybe only have one 'problem' food at a time and start small...? Give your brain something to be reassured about to begin with. I've progressed to curry my final food to add in, choosing to ignore the bloat and focus on eating food I enjoy. Hope that helps a bit. Dans approach really works for IC 😊
