Kathleen I know where you are coming from. I felt like God was putting so much pressure on myself and pain was the end result. I have come to a point where I realize I was putting pressure on myself that God hadn't necessarily put there. Jesus says Love is the most important thing. We are told "Love is the whole of the law". In 1st John 4 we are told that "God has NOT, given us the spirit of fear but of power, LOVE and a sound mind." The answer to feeling safe and loved by God is to believe His encouragement and promises. We are told God loves us and Jesus loves us. Many have heard this but haven't been able to really internalize it yet. Yes there are many angry "Christians" out there but if we believe the encouraging words of Jesus and come to know He loves us and made us right through His final work. We are told salvation it is a free gift, not by works". We just have to really take hold of this promise and look to Jesus and His love for us. Avoid the difficult passages at least for now and really internalize that we are loved and safe. I know this can be hard to do but it is the foundation that will carry us through and bring peace to our lives. I became a spiritual legalist and perfectionist and it broke me down. All joy was lost and fell into the fear based thinking. Over and over again it's all about love. And we must really understand and come to know that God loves us and Jesus loves us. The striving for perfection is a death sentence. When we know we are loved our lives will improve and that love will extend to others around us. I know many throw it all out but I have decided to believe in Jesus love for me and as 1 John 4 says, "perfect love cast out all fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made complete in love. We love Him because He first loved us". If we get this down, the fear will disappear. And right there we are told not to fear so I think really relying on these scriptures, that we are loved and secure. Not by anything we do or have to earn but by Jesus love for us and His promises. This is a big change I am making and its crucial because fear is a killer of joy, peace and health. But true love brings peace, joy and good health.
@@ezekieljeremiah8575 Loved it! You gave a nice little Sermon there. This toxic perfectionism and unworthiness had a stranglehold on me most of my life. I married a religious narcissist who continually reminded me how unworthy I was. God is bringing me out of this. It doesn’t happen in one day..though it could..but as we are ready Jesus perfects us. I am better much better now than I was 10 years ago! I am Worthy! May God Bless us All who need this!

This was a good one Dan. I just had a relapse. I didn’t freak out like the past. Lots of body pain. Was gone less than 2 hours. Just stop thinking about it and did some breathing. Went about my day. Just so everyone knows it’s been a two year battle of pain and symptoms. Last three months after finding people like Dan it’s night and day. I got my life back. You have to let whatever it is go, relax/ breathe and move. It 💯 works. Way too much to say. Just keep hearing what Dan is saying. You will get better. Thanks Dan.
I agree Dan! I have had some pretty debilitating symptoms over the past 2.5 years ever since getting Covid. Specifically food intolerance/allergies due to Mast Cell flares. I notice when I keep myself calm and don’t freak out over it giving me respiratory symptoms it passes. Still on an inhailer but maybe one day I can be free of that too! Thanks so much for your advice. So appreciated! ❤️
I’m freaking out way less since I found your channel. Thank you I traveled to my second oldest daughter‘s wedding this weekend. Probably in the past I would’ve said I couldn’t go because of my symptoms, as bad as that is. I almost canceled at the last minute, but I didn’t. I went. I’m so grateful to be employing these concepts in my life, and that I got to go up there and be with my whole entire family. I’m living my life from now on. Thank you Dan. This has helped me so much
It’s true. It’s only been 4 days since finding about you Dan. Been implementing your “don’t fear symptoms” approach and purposefully doing things I normally fear due to the palpitations and arrhythmias and I’ll be honest with you the frequency has cut down a lot. And even when my heart does start flipping it stops as quick as it comes because I don’t panic about it! I can only imagine how doing this over time can reprogram the stress response and stop sudden adrenaline surges all together!
Hi Dan. I DID experience unexpected DANGER!! COVID jab led to thrombocytopenia, loss of vision in one eye, and many organs almost shutting down. Close to death. Been with something like MECFS for 3 and a half years. Of course I feel vulnerable and afraid. My friends don’t understand what’s going on with me. Your relaxing method fits so much better with me. Will let u know how I’m doing.

Another concise, simply explained & reassuring video Dan. Thank you so much. This one I know will be a great one to return to if & when required. Today I saw a quote that I feel is backing this up: "Between stimulus & response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth & freedom" (Viktor. E. Frankl) Love to all you are implementing this...wishing you all peace.💗
I'm very aware of that quote which is why so much of my work is based on teaching people that their RESPONSE to life and symptoms is the greatest way to influence the brain towards safety.
I have been having lots of fearful thoughts after 7 weeks in bed. I start to believe the negative thinking when symptoms are bad. I will now catch these thoughts and freak out less
Thanks Dan. I’ve just come back to listening to your videos after a bad few weeks. Convinced myself it’s something physical again & I now know I was going down the wrong path again in how I was feeling mentally & physically. 2 days of listening you your videos again and I’m back on track. 👏You raise me up Dan and give me the confidence I need to fight back! Thanks so much 😊
I love that! Exactly we all do this, we keep thinking “must fix this” but nothing indeed to fix. It’s an interesting paradigm! The sensations are perfectly safe, and if they are safe , what would you do?
* DAN! I am really appreciating your content. When I listen to your videos though, I feel there is an important point that you are missing. Its something that I am finding really helpful. When there are stress hormones in the system, anxious thinking happens. Instead of trying to stop the circular, obsessive, scary thinking, or even saying ' brain, I am gonna stop this thinking now', I remind myself, ' these thoughts are happening because I was/ am feeling anxious and they are not to be given any attention or taken seriously because they are just a result of the adrenaline and cortisol.'
Not missing. I say all the time that we don't have to stop our negative thinking or even fix those negative thoughts. But we don't have to believe or take serious those negative thoughts. We can let them just go by without engaging in them. ua-cam.com/video/A6Z6KO7b0lE/v-deo.html
Makes a lot of sense Dan. Love the birdsong. I have birds singing in my backyard too. So soothing to sit out there and read a book and enjoy the music!

Caregiver all my life , sooo much anixety I got brainfog, lightsensitive, weakness in arms and legs , cant be in sun or Cold so nervous system are stucked
I love the birds but only know a few bird calls and which bird makes them. Sitting outside the other day I must have heard 10 different birds. So cool.
When I look at where I was this time last year compared to where I am now, I get a huge grin on my face and give thanks. I’m no longer heavily drugged 24/7 and still in pain despite the meds. It’s like black and white. My GP and I reduced my meds again a fortnight ago and my brain totally freaked out and I’m managing a pain flair. I was sooking to myself about it and giving myself a mental lashing for not doing so well and not sailing through the medication reduction and had to 🛑!!! Instead I’m reminding myself of how far I’ve come, the effective strategies I’ve used and just kept on going. I’m loving finding myself laughing again. Leanne Morgan is my new best friend (she doesn’t know it yet, but she’ll find out sooner or later😉) and I take time to watch her comedy and laugh and laugh. And then I realise the sensations are reduced and get on with my day. So, again and again: THANK YOU, Dan. 🙏🏼
that’s the key 🔑 - it’s having it go from head knowledge to ❤ knowledge - that’s when I no longer cared about symptoms and I returned to life - healing was just a byproduct
Hi Dan. I just found your channel yesterday and have been binge watching several of your videos. You got a new subscriber here. You have such great content. Thank you!
This was great. Such important information. As someone who hasn’t really ever felt safe in my life, I have been working on this a lot, and you’re so right it’s proactive. I took a bunch of notes and really appreciate you sharing this.

I am a born again Christian - I pray and read psalms - I was severely abused & I have escaped those relationships but now I have CFS. I am afraid to get on the subway to go to the beach because it appears almost every day there is a report of someone getting stabbed on the train - I do much want to get out in nature on a regular basis and be at the beach but I am afraid. My fatigue also makes it difficult to travel that far. Are my subway fears real or overrated?
If stabbings happen, the risk is real. The question is whether or not the odds are that you will have a problem. Factor in the number of people taking the subway each day. Odds are very good that you will be fine.
I spent the entire summer going to the beach - beaches close by & far away - I got very fatigued at times but I got over my fear pretty much and had a great summer. Thank you.

Hi dan thanks so much for this video. Ive been finding it hard to rewrite thoughts of danger ,and finding it hard to find safety in myself too when the world feels scary which has resolved in hiding from the big world "outside". Your videos are giving me encouragement, thank you 🙏🏻
As much as I have back pain flares I suffer with dizziness constantly and digestive issues. I’ve used your videos to help with those symptoms and it works just as well. So Dan can you mention other symptoms is this possible? You are literally a super hero 🥰
If you search my channel, I do speak about many different symptoms. This work applies to MOST chronic symptoms Can you be more specific on what you are looking for?
Thanks Dan I will defo search. I have had chronic dizziness for the past four years. That is the newest symptom. Digestive issues anxiety back pain. Thanks for the reply x
I got dizziness as a symptom during my journey and it only lasted 4 days because I had been listening to Dan and knew what was going on. Now still working on anxiety- which is my main symptom. It’s all the same thing. You only ‘suffer’ with symptoms when you do not accept them, and you fight them and try to fix them. Without that(indifference) there is no suffering. You can do this Michelle. If I am so much better already, you can get there too
Dan I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your videos have transformed me into the me I’ve always wanted to become a professional painter I’m not one yet. You’re videos have helped me get out of bad days that I would’ve normally have happened instead created a better day for myself knowing that they are my own thoughts and my thoughts are what making me feel bad so I think of better thoughts. That practice and others have let me sit and paint and actually get stuff done and one day you’ll know my name Edwin. Thanks again Dan.

You mentioned doing some sort of assessment? Helpful video. I keep trying to figure out if it is as simple as you’ve stated or something further going on with Long Covid, chronic fatigue, PEM, spike proteins, etc…
I have constant triggers through the day from complex ptsd. And the only way i use to cope. Is to push the fear away. And now that led to extreme resistance to emotions and percieved danger pain. Its hard to allow the constant triggers and feel them. I try but my body clenches so tight
I've been watching this playlist and all videos are 15 min long or more and all I hear is a repetition of "just chill you're fine". Can't really see any help

This is a really helpful video, thank you! One place where I get confused or caught up is feeling emotions vs thinking. When I feel my emotions, I become very overwhelmed with sadness and my symptoms get a lot worse. However when I change my focus, smiling at the ceiling for instance as you mention, then I don’t understand how you are still feeling your feelings. If you’re smiling at the ceiling, or any other form of trying to change how you feel, aren’t you ignoring your feelings? I don’t know how you can do both. Please let me know.

I'm so sorry you are between that rock and hard place. And in the end, it depends on the extent of his behavior. Will a split affect the kids? Yes. Hi Dan, I am new to your videos and I am loving them! I was wondering if there was a video you could guide me to that talks about building that foundation? You talk about the foundation in this video being key for implementing safety. To know what is causing symptoms, know that is what is going on for me, know there is a cure and knowing that I am capable of implementing it. I am feeling like I am needing to build that foundation as I am not sure my brain knows/believes all those statements and I really want to believe them! Thank you for all the work you are doing, it gives me hope that I can release the fear and find some relief.
I don't recommend we ignore symptoms. I suggest we rule out life threatening issues and then rule IN the mindbody reason and true cause for the pain or other symptoms. Once you KNOW your body is not creating the symptoms, then you can teach your brain not to be concerned. But I recommend assessing the situation before employing my concepts. That's why I speak about the assessments all the time.
how can we break that fear program/ when we had it a long time and its taken away all desire to interact in the world? I have noted your teaching, but my brain has not felt ok for a long time. I know I have to put in the effort..but fighting my mind every day...so tiring.

Hi Dan, I feel safe physically, mentally and emotionally when I go to sleep but my brain thinks I’m danger when I’m asleep so when I wake up my heart is always racing, I’m anxious, the thoughts are gearing up etc. so basically I go into flight / fight mode during sleep. I’ve eliminated alcohol, caffeine, strengthened my adrenals etc and I’m getting better at calming this on wake up so it doesn’t last as long as it used to but I’m wondering how can I retrain my brain so it doesn’t happen when in this subconscious state. I’ve observed it also happens even if I have a day time nap. It’s hard to find info on this. I don’t know if you have any advice
Thanks Dan! This helps. I am going to do/try. The difficult thing is that it hurts soooooo much, I almost can’t walk and sit (my feet hurt too much and my sit bones/ass too, but I went to swim 💪) so I cant’t bare the pain. I don’t think I am too scared, but I just can’t stand it -:( so I avoid sitting and walking (wrong!) Well deep sigh, and take baby steps , really had to laugh when you told your story 😅. I’ll keep that in mind …Again, thanks so much, Sophie from Amsterdam
May I ask if you are literally pain free now and do not take any medications? And what is your activity level now? I already have a healthy dialogue regarding my pain, and feel my emotions, don't take it seriously at all, understand it intellectually..but symptoms are still there. I relax my body, know i'm safe, completely, but still same thing. Im not afraid of it im so used to it. I exercise through pain, talk to people through pain, sleep with pain, and im ok with it. No fear. Another irony is that many weeks or even a few months can go by and I am dealing with huge stressors, yet I am NOT in pain, so there is no concrete correlation. High stress and fear no pain. Living ok, ..pain comes. No rhyme or reason. Lol I think that there is even a higher intelligence that is directing these things. But obviously not for this conversation. Very thankful for your support here and really interested in learning more about the brain, that dictates everything...Even though we are not the body, and not even the mind. Thank you
Yes, I have not had any chronic pain for the past 14 years. My activity level is unrestricted. When pain comes - it is because at either a conscious or subconscious level, the brain is perceiving some element of danger. Pain is a warning signal, but chronic pain is most often a mistake and false alarm. It's our job to respond to it with clarity, a deep knowing that our bodies are fine, calm reassurance. @@PainFreeYou Thank you for sharing. This is where its leading to..! I will be looking at these. Chronic pain is definitely partially mentally perceived, and old habits of fear etc. that play the loop in your head and you never get better. However, old bones are just that, and when we get older we become degenerated which is normal and that causes pain and aches and that is not fear based nor perceived as a false alarm. Its real, it is natural. All of the natural pain that we have getting older etc, is normal. It is not the body's fear. It is the body letting us know and we have the response naturally because our body is an amazing machine. Someone that has worked many years and has a sore back due to work or age, is just that. It is not because they are afraid or creating fear, they simply have an old back, simple as that.
@@elizabethjones3736 Not all perceived danger is in the conscious brain. Much of it is in the subconscious. Regarding aging and degeneration, I don't believe aging is supposed to hurt. There are studies that show percentages of disc / joint degeneration in people with NO symptoms. Age 60 - 88%, Age 70 - 93%, Age 80 - 96% have degeneration, yet NO pain. Degeneration is a normal thing, but it does not hurt. If you would like to understand, watch the videos I shared with you before.

I've done the assessments but one reason I doubt I have TMS is because you saying a lot of these videos relax your body and don't be tense and if you're breathing shallow that sense is you're in danger but the thing is one of my main symptoms my primary symptom is that my body is tense 24/7 and I mean super tense like I have literally zero range of motion in my body anymore and it's constantly in contraction and my breath is shallow 24/7 a lot of times I feel like I don't even breathe unless I manually breathe so my point is I am saying that one of my main symptoms is that I'm constantly like this so it seems like buy these videos that most of the people you're talking to are just able to breathe and relax and not be tense or breathe with their chest anymore but for me that's literally my symptoms that I can't get rid of so maybe its not tms
When we are in fight or flight, the brains primary objective is safety and survival. Joy and optimism are not on the priority list if your brain is terrified. Safety is the solution.

Loved it! You gave a nice little Sermon there. This toxic perfectionism and unworthiness had a stranglehold on me most of my life. I married a religious narcissist who continually reminded me how unworthy I was. God is bringing me out of this. Sounds like He is Helping Both of us! “I am as God Created me and with Him I am Worthy.” You are Worthy too. Jesus Makes us Worthy. It doesn’t happen in one day..though it could..but as we are ready Jesus perfects us. I am better much better now than I was 10 years ago! I am Worthy! May God Bless us All who need this!

Some of the purest and most applicable wisdom I’ve encountered. Dan you are a hero.
Thanks Dan.
Awesome Nate - it's amazing how fast a flare can go when you don't freak.
Praying for your courage.. GOD IS WITH YOU🙏❤️🙏
I agree Dan! ❤️

I traveled to my second oldest daughter‘s wedding this weekend. Probably in the past I would’ve said I couldn’t go because of my symptoms, as bad as that is. I almost canceled at the last minute, but I didn’t. I went. I’m so grateful to be employing these concepts in my life, and that I got to go up there and be with my whole entire family.
You are on your way Josh. Keep at it. This stuff works.

You can do it!!
I’m pretty much back to normal now apart from the odd flare! Which I always try to keep calm with
Thanks so much 😊
Try not to view it as a fight. It's more of a teaching process to your subconscious that you are already okay. :-)
I love that! Exactly we all do this, we keep thinking “must fix this” but nothing indeed to fix. It’s an interesting paradigm! The sensations are perfectly safe, and if they are safe , what would you do?
I love reading the comments in your videos, Dan. All of you folks offering up what exact aspects has been working for you is so helpful! ❤
Yes. I love reading the comments too!
I also love reading the reviews of all of Dr. Sarno's books. ❤
* DAN!
I am really appreciating your content.
When I listen to your videos though, I feel there is an important point that you are missing.
Its something that I am finding really helpful.
When there are stress hormones in the system, anxious thinking happens.
Instead of trying to stop the circular, obsessive, scary thinking, or even saying ' brain, I am gonna stop this thinking now',
I remind myself, ' these thoughts are happening because I was/ am feeling anxious and they are not to be given any attention or taken seriously because they are just a result of the adrenaline and cortisol.'
Not missing. I say all the time that we don't have to stop our negative thinking or even fix those negative thoughts. But we don't have to believe or take serious those negative thoughts. We can let them just go by without engaging in them.

Hi Dan having a tough day your videos are like a hug. Thank you 🙏
When I look at where I was this time last year compared to where I am now, I get a huge grin on my face and give thanks.

I am a born again Christian - I pray and read psalms - I was severely abused & I have escaped those relationships but now I have CFS. My fatigue also makes it difficult to travel that far. Are my subway fears real or overrated?
If stabbings happen, the risk is real. The question is whether or not the odds are that you will have a problem. Factor in the number of people taking the subway each day. Odds are very good that you will be fine.

But if you have Grief ? Should You shut down that to
So if you are ignoring symptoms and pain, won't you ignore true symptoms of problems?
I don't recommend we ignore symptoms. I suggest we rule out life threatening issues and then rule IN the mindbody reason and true cause for the pain or other symptoms. Once you KNOW your body is not creating the symptoms, then you can teach your brain not to be concerned. But I recommend assessing the situation before employing my concepts. That's why I speak about the assessments all the time.

Lol
I think that there is even a higher intelligence that is directing these things.

Yes everyone that i know that is older has normal wear and tear and aging that hurts. They dont care though, they just deal with it. They are not obsessing about it either.
But its no big deal.

I am OK. I am OK. I am OK. 🙂
Ive heard you mention tms multiple times but i dont actually know what it stands for?
Why is it hard for some people to experience optimism/ joy why do some see the glass always half empty?
When we are in fight or flight, the brains primary objective is safety and survival. Joy and optimism are not on the priority list if your brain is terrified. Safety is the solution.
@@PainFreeYou This certainly tells me that I am rarely out of the survival mode -- I look forward to learning much more. I can see that if survival has become out default mode then we have to learn to monitor ourselves and keep an eye on things .
