- 1988 Suzuki samurai, AAZ 1.9 VW turbo diesel engine, acme adapters conversion kit. Low range transfer case E-brake kit which rattles non stop and is annoying as hell. Also used their rear disk brake kit... Its a fun little cruiser. The front hitch shrock works bumper is really handy and I constantly use the sammy as a tug to easily move trailers around the yard etc.

Good looking swap! My buddy works at lowrange, and has the tcase brake on his sami, and we both agree, it rattles like crazy. But it does work nice!

wooodrow99 I bought a totaled golf Tdi and built it into a truck, it’s a work vehicle for my business, one of my employees drives it. It looks much better now that it has a wrap on it.

For what is worth the title says AAZ which is not a TDI. Its only a Turbo Diesel which isn't much better than the 1.6TD.

adam n Grip,diesel has a lot of grip and gasoline is better for road cars(go faster)

hopefully less than 10k. I have about 10 cars currently and I try my best not to add stuff up, otherwise I'd probably come to my senses and sell it all!

I believe it’s coming off the acme adapter oil filter housing, it’s been 7 years I’ll verify and if you don’t hear from me that was the correct answer.

Whats the max speed of this rig and tire size?
Dan Parkinson about 70 and it’s on 31’s. Samurai transfer case works a little different then most so you kinda get to chose street or dirt for gearing.

Yes it is
Numb nuts that was posting about tdi’s and 1.9 not being a upgrade over 1.6 doesn’t understand that you’d have to plumb in all electronics to use a proper Tdi, or use a mechanical pump on the Tdi, but at the end of the day a 1.9 tuned makes way more power than a 1.6. I’ve driven both. Going past a tuned and dialed 1.9 TD you’ll be rebuilding Sammy drivetrain allot!! Plus this is still a 1 wire mechanical engine
Is it 4x4 ? Most diesel conversions are 4x2

Just wanna know where. You got some of your parts and also some of the things you did on installing with oil cooler and glow plugs light
Keep the stock cooler because that is how you’ll warm up the oil as well. Then coming out of the stock cooler you’ll use a oil cooler thermostat which will bypass the next new cooler until it’s warm, you can also re-route the stock filter and install a related one if you’d like more space. It gets tight in there fast. Thermostat looks something like this: Derale 25719
