samurai diesel vw turbo diesel, 1.9 aaz

1988 Suzuki samurai, AAZ 1.9 VW turbo diesel engine, acme adapters conversion kit. Low range transfer case E-brake kit which rattles non stop and is annoying as hell. Also used their rear disk brake kit... Its a fun little cruiser. The front hitch shrock works bumper is really handy and I constantly use the sammy as a tug to easily move trailers around the yard etc.
Escondido/ valley center local. Broke my ankle here in 1991.
In the early 70's if the wave sucked that's where we headed. Never had the sack to do the 60' but did the 45'. Shame on whoever soiled it with the spray paint.

Do you have oil temperature gauge? How did you hook it into aaz?
I believe it’s coming off the acme adapter oil filter housing, it’s been 7 years I’ll verify and if you don’t hear from me that was the correct answer.

Good video, just to have some sort of memories of this place. This place was fun. Used to go here around 94-95, I wonder if it is still accessible? I remember it was a trespass to get to the spot, but big downslope to get there, so police never showed up. Now I might have to go check it out.
Gigantic bust and been so for a long time. You cannot park on the way you’ve always done it before. You have to enter from the other side of the stream. I don’t want to name streets but look at it from satellites and you can probably figure it out. I also believe they have made changes over the years to try and destroy what attracts people to the cliffs

Um that's actually a (Model T) NOT a model A
It's very obviously an A
1927 WAS THE LAST MODEL T YEAR MADE.
It's a Model AA. A Model T has 3 pedals on the floor, no gear shift and no gauge panel other than an amp gauge. Also, when driving a Model A, just like a T, you need to advance the spark when driving, otherwise it might overheat and lack power. Nice truck. I don't think it should be restored. I would just make it mechanically safe and reliable and drive it. That's what I'm doing with my Model T.

Just wanna know where. You got some of your parts and also some of the things you did on installing with oil cooler and glow plugs light
Keep the stock cooler because that is how you’ll warm up the oil as well. Then coming out of the stock cooler you’ll use a oil cooler thermostat which will bypass the next new cooler until it’s warm, you can also re-route the stock filter and install a related one if you’d like more space. It gets tight in there fast. Thermostat looks something like this: Derale 25719
Is it 4x4 ? Most diesel conversions are 4x2

Dan Parkinson about 70 and it’s on 31’s. Samurai transfer case works a little different then most so you kinda get to chose street or dirt for gearing.

Yes it is
Numb nuts that was posting about tdi’s and 1.9 not being a upgrade over 1.6 doesn’t understand that you’d have to plumb in all electronics to use a proper Tdi, or use a mechanical pump on the Tdi, but at the end of the day a 1.9 tuned makes way more power than a 1.6. I’ve driven both. Going past a tuned and dialed 1.9 TD you’ll be rebuilding Sammy drivetrain allot!! Plus this is still a 1 wire mechanical engine
When was this originally taped? Me and my friends used to go there regularly in the early 80's. Some of my finest youthful memories were experienced there. Pretty sure I've got a bunch of pictures buried somewhere.

Thanks for posting this video. I grew up in Poway and made many trips out to Box Canyon. This was back in my high school years around 89-90. Drinking cheap beers and making bad decisions was the name of the game. Good times!

wooodrow99 I bought a totaled golf Tdi and built it into a truck, it’s a work vehicle for my business, one of my employees drives it. It looks much better now that it has a wrap on it.

For what is worth the title says AAZ which is not a TDI. Its only a Turbo Diesel which isn't much better than the 1.6TD.
