I take it set in the 1970s and 1980s 1990s Cold War and has the Soviet Union and the East Germans something new and goes to 2020s and has Chris Pratt so maybe Indiana jones 6 do that and has East German and ussr instead of Nazis and that movie was cool 😎

It was some nice characterization and good way to avoid whole Shia lebouf issue.
Helena was an awful character tho, hediously so. An arrogant, selfish, know it all bitch who only does a 180 near the end that is supposed to redeem her for all behaviour prior.
CGI was excessively used and sometimes iffy, but movie was fine, set pieces and casting too.
Ending with way back in time was fun, but ofcourse Helena was a stain on everything. She is this stupid Rey like character, but as long as you focus on despising her, rest of the movie is decently enjoyable.

@@Kacpa2I went into this movie really expecting to hate her character but I warmed up to her a little bit by the end. It did seem like she was forced to face her failures a little bit throughout the film and while there wasn't a lot of explicit characterization, it did feel like she had softened a bit, at least to me. That said, I would really have preferred that Indy reconnected with short round or teamed up with Sallah instead

    • @Kacpa2
      @Kacpa2 11 місяців тому +5

@@christopherbucher7017 To me it feels rushed. She was incredibly selfish and forceful. It would take Indy dying or failing to catch up to her and all that she would do is insult and berate him while doing nothing that bring doom to his friends while he is wrongly accussed of murder and on the run...
Her behaviour on the boat as his friend got killed and her decision to go out and read the cipher could easily ended in Voller killing indy on the spot as he isnt useful anymore, before her plan with dynomite could go anywhere.
She just magicly started to care in tomb of archimedes after constant disrespect, lying, backstabbing and insults or mockery for her to flip a switch and try to "save him".
Her ending "in the right" and fixing his life is excessively on the nose especially when she blamed him for her behaviour earlier. Its this same mary sue syndrome as with Ray. And her being so dislikeable doesnt seem intended in the same way.
I still liked everything in spite of her, as acting and story was alright regardless for an indy movie. Its not nearly as bad as likes of Critical Drinker make it out to be.

Here’s an idea that I think would slightly improve the ending:
We have this scene like normal,
    Marion kissing Indy,
    *School Bell rings offscreen*
We see the Dial being put into a glass case, closing to reveal the reflections of Indy and Charlie, the former Dean of Marshall College from the previous film, now Indy’s assistant.
Indy remarks that the placement on the dial represents the date it was last used, which was 1969.
Charlie pointing out that it looks like the Dial is moved slightly, implying that maybe it was used once more without Indy knowing.
We cut to Indy sitting at his desk, as Charlie reading him his appointments,
    Mentioning Indy has a visitor
Indy says he’s busy so she’ll have to wait,
Charlie correcting him, saying it’s a he, as we hear the sound of a Motorcycle outside.
We see Indy’s reaction as he realizes Helena used the Dial one last time to save Mutt,
As he gets up, grabbing his hat, and walks out the door to see his son.

We needed Indy being debriefed by the president. They mentioned potus so much in the opening stage of the movie, and by this time Indiana was already well known by the national security agency. Would’ve been a really satisfying ending recognizing Indiana for the monumental work he’s done to protect humanity’s most vital antiques

Great ending, other than the fact that Indy lost his job at Marshall College back in the Fifties during Chrystal Skull. It was during the Red Scare, and he was perceived to have helped the Soviets. I still hope that he somehow changed the course of history and returned to a live son and a marriage without all the artificial drama.

The last 20 minutes were absolutely amazing but as soon as Marion came on screen? I literally choked up as I absolutely love the Marion character and her chemistry with Indy. Just a small correction. The war that Mutt would have enlisted in would have had to be the Vietnam War, not the Korean war. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull takes place in 1957, and the Korean War lasted from 1950 - 1953, whereas the Vietnam War lasted from 1955 - 1975.

@@cwell510 don't most people finish college around 21 -22 (especially in the 60s)? He'd be a way older officer I'd imagine than most, especially in that era. I don't think the timing makes much sense, but maybe.
If I recall, Indiana Jones (in-canon) became an enlisted in WWI at 16 by faking his age. I don't recall now if he became officer during WWI, but I think either way he'd have been way younger than Mutt.
Also, Jones says that Mutt enlisted to piss him off. That seems strange to me for a 28 year old for doing that, the "f**k you dad" phase is like a HS/early college type a thing no? 25 - 28 year old men are getting married, and well-into establishing their life, you'd think "on average" they'd mature past that sort of thing by then. But Indiana himself held a grudge on his old man well into his 40s.... so maybe the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree ....

Many people didn't realize it, but this Indiana Jones movie contains a lot of references to real good classics. Like the Heinkel 111 bomber that comes from "The Battle of Britain" which was also from 1969. And the beginning of Ford walking around in SS uniform was from the 1969 Star Trek episode with Spock dressed as an SS officer. We also see that Mercedes Benz in Tangier in the Exorcist. And Paperclip Nazis also feature in "The Marathon Man" (1976). So for the movie fan there is plenty to recognize.

When I first saw this, it was in theaters. I remember going into it excited, and throughout the movie, slowly became more and more connected to it. By the end of the movie, the parts that got me were him reuniting with Marion, and him wanting to stay in the past. The desperation on his face really hit home for me, and I left the movie theater with a mixture of feelings I didn't know were possible: both crushed and content. Beautiful movie, definitely getting on disc when possible.

Imo he should have stayed in ancient Greece and slowly but happily die from his bullet wound while he discusses history or whatever he enjoys with Arquimedes. It would have made the story more tragic but far more epic and interesting than his forced reconciliation with Marion which came out of nowhere and in the last minute.

YES! Her introduction had me really liking her and then she turned into someone VERY irritating with almost nothing to make her likeable. She was smart...yes, but she showed nothing to make me care about the character until the last 20-30 minutes or so of the film. They should've written her better. As for the ending, it was really emotional and I DID shed some tears... but I don't want to leave an Indiana Jones film sad. I want to leave feeling good about life. Yes, they tried to put a positive spin on it at the end... but I think it was too little too late after all the heaviness they dumped on us previously.

Unfortunately I wish we got more info on why Indy left Marshall college, a place where he'd been for decades. If this movie takes place 12 years after Crystal and he'd been teaching there 10 years, this means he would've left Marshall somewhere in a 2 year gap right after Crystal. I liked but didn't love the movie. By starting Indy out divorced and depressed it cheapens what was a good ending for crystal skull. The pacing was all over the place as well. I did love the first 20 min amd last 20 min (except they wrapped things up too fast I think)

The young Indiana jones series was really popular in the 90's, I remember watching them at the time, they had massive budgets so couldn't continue though. The old Indiana jones was not cut from the TV episodes, they did a rerelease of the three movies that existed in the late 90's early 2000s, with the rerelease they cut Young Indiana Jones episodes into feature length movies, the old Indiana Jones bit didn't make it into those edits.

Unfortunately, (if we think about it) that would alter the timeline and it could end up being much worse. If Indiana wanted to use the dial again, then it would lead them to another time fissure that would lead them to the exact same battle over 2000 years ago.
