Excellent talk by Marcus. He has been fighting for children and young people to not be harmed by egotistical therapists and psychologists since blowing the whistle at the Tavistock GIDs. I know there are many young people that he has helped through their dis-ease with themselves and one day he will get the recognition that he deserves.

This is the most interesting talk I have heard on the subject.
However, I would have liked to hear his view also
on the mindset of girls wanting to "transition".

lesbophobia, misogyny, inability to escape untimely and predatory sexualization by society, society gaslighting autistic spectrum sufferers into believing they're defunct girls (AND boys) if they can't piece the social game together, many things

I’m so glad someone is talking about this. The idea that a therapist role is to affirm is pervasive across a number of areas now and is very harmful in my opinion. It doesn’t enable growth and puts therapists in the role of colluding or as a nodding dog. It’s spread to to other spaces too, ‘neuro-affirming’ for example. Which discouraged growth and responsibility for behaviour and instead promoting that you can basically do or demand what you want because everyone and everything else is the problem.

Affirmative is so harmful! Acceptable is way through this, I believe.
Gender exploratory therapy needs to be the only treatment for dysphoria.

It’s not genetics. It’s epigenetics. Each attachment pattern is set up in the brain EPIGENETICALLY as the templates that we use for interpersonal relationships in the world for the rest of our lives. A big problem is NEGLECT & using a screen as a patent substitute IS NEGLECT. . We have an Epigenetic template for Walking even. These are aet up in the brain in Infancy. Then there are the major genes - Glucocorticoid Receptor, Oxytocin, BDNF set up Epigenetically BASED on Experience. If i ran the Western World, i would make healthy Parenting, Healthy Families, Secure Attachment & understanding attachment & templates & physical health through diet, stress reduction, exercise & psychological health through Healthy Relationship, the #1 National Security Priority.

@drtinahahn With respect to the content, which is a very valuable contribution (though yet to be both scientifically and popularly debated and brought into a common and practical language)....... but....."If I ran the world", is best reflected on as a humorous, figurative and subversive commentary! :)
Otherwise, the literal among us might mistake your statement as a euphoria fascist schema; which is exactly what the Trans-Activist (TA) have been trying to implement, and have offered as snake oil to 'Autism'. 'Autism' and 'therapy' is on of the TA angles and hooks which has been used to flatter AS into bed with them. Placing this a "National Security Priority" is somewhat the language of one well know driver of extreme idiocy back in 1900 (1933), and excludes the real reason AS got involved with the TA. That is, AS seems to feel (at least as overwhelmingly expressed 'on-line'), a lack of the recognition of Agency and Autonomy and an antithesis against (the) 'norms'. TA has hijacked AS issues as a platform. Although much of what you say would, in therapeutic terms be practical, thus useful when understood in common language and practice, part of the reaction against non-affirmatory therapy is based in a sense of being spoken for, with broad brush reductive and pathologizing terminology. This was an independent debate in Autism until the TA offered something rather more excitingly visible than the debated ruts the it had managed to dig for itself.
By the way, I'm absolutely fascinated by viewing this through the 'Bio-Neurology' lens ('BN' -for the want of a better term); I think it's key to moving forward in terms of Autism Knowledge building If you have any pointers / leads into this area of BN, I'd love to hear from ya! :) Thanks for your contribution!

I refuse to affirm that there is such a thing as gender that someone "is". I am not my sex but it is male. Gender means to bring forth and sometimes I serve assertiveness and sometimes I serve softness. I am not what I serve.

For decades we have worked to stop adolecnent people from doing "the deed."
Now we got what we wanted.
    But... At what cost?
This is the consequence of shaming and guilt. And before anyone tells me we are more sexual now, look at the stats... you are wrong.

It's time for people to recognise that there are multiple paths that can lead to someone feeling uncomfortable with their sex/gender. And because there are different causes there should also be different treatments. If it arises from, for example, trauma, then physically transitioning before dealing with the trauma first is a mistake.. and treating the trauma may lead to not needing the transition anyways. Some people may truly need transition of course, but it's not the best path for many people with dysphoria.

I'm not an expert and I've already realized it long time ago. 🤷‍♀️ It's pretty obvious as soon as you get the basic grasp of the phenomenon. So I'm sure the experts _must have_ already known that too.

There are kids who have severe gender unease and kids who are stuck in gender unease with like 75% growing over it..there is no cure for this unease. What is happeninng in such transition is that the biological gender gets burried. It is not gone at all. In fact stuff like not allowing for instance Twoman in woman toilets will reminds them very much that they did not really change their gender. It is all a delusional/ placebo sort of thing.. no cure, it is make believe.. That is why it might ease the pain somewhat at best. Also in most cases my guess is kids having a hard time accepting being gay..that is where de delusion and placebo comes it..kids thinking being a different gender they are no longer gay and a outcast in hetero world.

I don't believe anyone needs to transition. These people just need more effective mental health care. And maybe some spiritual beliefs as well. I reject the entire thing.

Thank f..k we had no "sex-education" at school. I would definitely forbid Anyone to show young me those "educational" films at school!!! These things are Private. And a book is more than Enough!
And what exactly happened with the "informed concent"?? Why does a young person have to watch that in front of a whole class And a teacher? Some may want this, but i would Never give my concent to that. It would break my life. No thank you.
I got all the Actually needed information from a small, kind and nice book for kids at about 6 y.o. when i askee "where the kids come from" and my mom gave that to me. No extra anatomic descriptions. No embarassment, nothing. Some point s you just get from speaking to your family members. 2+2 is quite an obvious thing even a kid can get, you know? Other info i got from 90s action movies and newspapers or whatever. Tv and press kinda helped later on, too. Social adds were her and there explaining aids and condoms etc. Tv that time was - i would say - a lot more decent. And a lot more romantic in a way.
    And we had no internet.
What a damn complication - but what a blessing as well...
I feel so sorry for todays kids who often lose their innocense ane their childhood to internet and all the modern culture, where people are cynical yet call that grounded, cruel yet call that fair and realistic, lonely yet call that independent...
... Why am i even saying all this? 😂😂😂😂😂
