The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management at the Magic Kingdom - Extinct Attraction
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 тра 2012
- Join Iago and friends for this indoor musical show which lasted from 1998 until 2011 at the Magic Kingdom. After a small fire, the show was closed and reverted into a tribute to the original Tropical Serenade show.
This version's pre-show features now-deceased comedy legends Phil Hartman and Don Rickles as William and Morris.
Had to drop by & pay my respects to the incomparable Gilbert Gottfried. Rest in peace to an absolute legend & a true original.
I got his autograph in 2019
@@jamesgallagher100He should have been rehired that year!!
I really loved the tiki goddess animatronic. She was incredible!
She gave me nightmares
@@xthepotatowolfx2334 But her movement was incredibly fluid, almost lifelike.
@@TheApoohneicie exactly lol. I’m not saying she was bad, but definitely unexpected for 4 year old me to see in a show about birds. :D
@@xthepotatowolfx2334 I can see how she would freak out a 4 yr old.
@@xthepotatowolfx2334 glad I wasn’t the only 4 year old scared by this show, I don’t even remember the goddess I was crying so bad from Zazu and Iago that they took me out of the show
I spent ten years of my life thinking I hallucinated this attraction because I had no idea I’d seen it Under New Management. Talk about a fever dream
ME TOO
I saw tiki room at the time UNM was open, and i dont even remember Iago and Zazu being there.
I usually skip the Tiki room. Couple of years ago I saw it and was like "wasn't there like an angry goddess or something"?
@@warriorseamonkey1693 Did you go to Disneyland? Because if so, they never updated theirs to this.
@@JavaCake never been to DL, grew up an hour and a half from Orlando
As much as this has own problems I do wish that one day there could be animated shorts or perhaps a special where Zazu and Iago spend time together and shenanigans ensues. It's gonna be so funny with Iago's schemes and Zazu trying to keep them both out of trouble best as possible......until they get burned, chased, chomped at, swatted, squashed, etc.
arbiter690 I would watch that I bet it would be funny
A movie like Rescue Rangers but with Zazu and Iago
"You cannot toy with the Enchanted Tiki Room" You said it Zazu. Ugh. I hate this version.
Although the Tiki God part was cool. Not the song but the animatronic.
me too
Uh-Oa is the best part of the show, and she spooked me with her glowing evil red eyes and her evil laugh that gave me nightmares on her after the show! I think that she will be a great Disney villain one day in the future movies to come when Moana will be a successful movie.
I doubt they'll do anything with Uh-Oa, seeing as her character wasn't made for Moana. Honestly, the only way I could see them using the AA is if they refurbish and repurpose her to be a smaller scale Te Ka animatronic. :X
I believe they repurposed the animatronic for the interactive tiki Bar in the Polynesian resort
I grew up with this version, so this is all I knew back then. Now that I've seen the original show, this is hot garbage.
I did like Uh-Oa, though. She scared the crap out of me. I'm glad she's at Trader Sam's now!
I am surprised that people who didn’t cause were Disney fans or people who were upset that a character from Middle Eastern country who some people have problems with saying Jesus Christ is lord, thinks of female goddesses and talking idols who once said what they devil knows.
She scared me too! I was too afraid to go back for so long until I heard that it reverted back to the OG version. So much better!
As a kid I liked it but after seeing the original in person, yeeeeeeaaahh shouldn't mess up a classic
Rip trader Sam
You dare call the legendary Gilbert Gottfried garbage?!
My wife got halfway through this and yelled, “this is tacky as shit!” Haha... she never swears. I’m so glad this is gone!
The only thing I liked about this version was the tiki goddess herself making an appearance . Everything else? Do not mess with the Tiki Room!
SavPatterson yeah I agree. I love the original and everything, but I do love Uh-Oa showing up. Iago and Zazu showing up wasn't really necessary for me..
I believe they repurposed her in the Trader Sams tiki bar in the polynesian Resort.
Hey! Don't you DARE disrespect the late Gilbert Gottfried a.k.a the voice of Iago, he and Rowan Atkinson a.k.a the voice of Zazu like that >:(
Even though a lot of people hated this attraction I really loved it
I did too.
11:48
Zazu's making that face for all of us.
And also in the main show, the late Gilbert Gottfried voiced Iago in the attraction. I'm commenting as I heard that Gilbert Gottfried has sadly passed away today. The late comedian and actors, Phil Hartman, Don Rickles, and Gilbert Gottfried had passed away in 1998 (the same year this attraction opened), 2017, and 2022 respectively. I never saw this version, but I saw this on UA-cam back in 2015. R.I.P. Gilbert Gottfried (1955-2022)
I know this show was bad, but it was my childhood... I used to have this entire show memorized word for word, and I don't regret that.
I think this is a great show! I do not think it should replace the original tiki room but I think it would be a cool limited time show they would bring around every once in a while. It adds a little spice and something new.
It’s be cool if they did a seasonal overlay and do this show. Like they used to do (and hopefully one day will do again) with the Country Bears and like they do with The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland
Uh Oa was the only good thing to come out of this and the fire sprinklers just had to go and ruin her moving parts.
Mark Sommerville I wish someone was recording when the fire happened and I could see it. For some reason I really want to see that?
Luckily the fire is what put this show to rest. Too bad about the goddess. Im happy shes at Tiki Sam's
I saw this show in 2003, which was the first and only time we visited WDW. I was 9 and my brothers were 8 and 2 and we enjoyed this version. I was funny and different from the Disneyland one. I for one do miss "Under New Management."
Despite what apparently *everyone else* thinks, I actually liked this version. I was especially sad to see Polynesia go. Now, it’s always a disappointment to not see her pop up from the foliage.
same!!
yesss
Yeah I actually liked it too
So glad this one went away. They tried to mess with original Tiki room and failed miserably!
I just had to come back here after the death of Gilbert Gottfried (another voice of my childhood gone). My family and I actually saw this when we went to Disney World in September 2000, and we thought it was pretty funny, especially Iago. My parents actually thought the original Tiki Room was boring(!) when they went to Disney World back in the 80s, and that this was a noticeable improvement.
Pierre was voiced by Jerry Orbach, A.k.a. Lumiere.
I hate how this show is mostly Iago yelling and awkward songs, but I like seeing the classic tiki room birds get new lines. I hope some day the Tiki room can get a seasonal overlay that keeps the classic vibes but adds a couple of new songs or something. This was just a little too brash and ironic.
Yeah it was really refreshing to hear new voice lines for the gang but WOOF. No wonder it pissed people off.
If ya mess with Polynesia, the Tiki gods will squeeze ya!
Uh Oa is now in Polynesian resort!!!
I kinda like this one! Dance Disney Revolution!
RIP Gilbert Gottfried
Those tribal session are gone. No wonder this ride got burned down. It was really cursed after they revamp it.
Wow. That was awful. I mean I thought Iago was funny in Aladdin but here, he's downright obnoxious. I'm surprised this version lasted for so long. Not funny.
Well, at least Zach wasn’t annoying
In all my years of going to MK iv never seen this version of the enchanted tiki room. Thank God
Lol I remember my dad dragging us into the Tiki room a lot everytime we went to Disney. We didn’t care for it, but he really enjoyed it.
Also, fun fact: the parrots were voiced by Don Rickles (William) and SNL’s very own Phil Hartman (Morris).
I would LOVE to know what exactly Disney Imagineers were thinking when they were planning this. What squeaky wheels were turning when they came up with this deranged idea. Even if you were unfamiliar with the original Tiki Room, this show is still an obnoxious mess. What were they thinking?
ExplorerDS6789 the same squeaky wheels when they did journey into your imagination
The Film Fiend with figment
@@Julia-qt5wd Exactly.
😞 I hope someone was reprimanded for this.
Coming from someone who loves Iago and Zazu(and The Enchanted Tiki Room), I dislike this show. This would've been better if it was an animated short(ya know, since there's a plot). It just doesn't make sense to me that the plot of this show is repeated.
It does that just in case if there’s people who have their first trip to Disney
I wonder what Uh-Oa would look like as an animated cartoon?
Maybe alternate and every hour it switches between this show and the other show?
I remember when I first saw this. My family sat directly underneath Zazu. It was fun :D
I grew up with this version. The original is much better. This one used to scare me when I was little. I’m just glad someone recorded it so I could show my fiancé.
I remember seeing this when I was three. Went back and it was completely changed 15 years later. I have no idea what its like today since its been 5 years since I was last there
I can see this as an absolute guilty pleasure amongst Disney Park fans
I’m glad it’s back to normal
I miss this version, i saw this back in 1998
Joshua Orro you miss this?
@@almostgreatnate7444 well, if he misses this show he must of liked it.
Rest In piece don rickles
He was mr potato head in the toy story movies
Rest In Peace Don Rickles.
Was that Phil Hartman and Richard Kind playing the two toucans under the waterfall? I really wish I had seen this.
Phil Hartman did one of the toucans. But the orange one was voiced by Don Rickles
The only saving grace of this attraction was the tiki goddess
And the sprinklers ruined her moving parts. At least she did find a new home in Trader Sam’s
Wow, and not Iago and Zazu??
You people are even more heartless than I thought.
Trivia- Armelia McQueen voices Uh-Oa ,The Tiki Goddess of Disaster.
Disney fans should remember her playing The Red Queen in the Disney TV
Show "Adventures in Wonderland' in the 90's.
And Zazu is voiced by Michael Gough. AKA:
"TALOS THE UNERRING! TALOS THE UNASSAILABLE! TO YOU, WE GIVE PRAISE!"
BNSF1995 wait, the movie version was voiced by Rowan Atkinson. Did Michael Gough replace him in the Tiki Room version?
I love all the versions of The Tiki Room
We get it, you hate this version. well the fire fixed that problem
Micheal Iesener's ultimate "Hello fellow kids."
He Sounds Like:
Digit From: Cyberchase
I grew up with this version, and I'm so glad to see that I can still see it! Was it perfect? No, but there are some elements I really love. The tiki goddess and zazu and the storyline all really make me miss this one. Even most of the songs worked (in my opinion!).
That said, cut out Iago singing and tone him down, maybe mix in more of the original stuff and I think it could have worked better. And of course keep the original show at least at one park.
disneyland in california has never had this as far as i know
Uh Oa, the tiki goddess of disaster, was a brilliant animatronic and a welcome addition to the show and I kind of wish she was still in it somehow. Maybe having Iago make a extremely brief appearance then have her appear and revert things back to normal and zap the shit out of Iago
8:25
Me: Oh you've done it now Iago!
11:18 - 11:32
Iago: Whoa! Smoking!
All the birds: Iago!
14:01 - 15:16
This was the first version of the show I ever saw. I could have *sworn* it was in Disneyland, not Disney World. Finding out it was always in Magic Kingdom and never in Disneyland is throwing me for a major loop!
Zazu is kinda cute in animatronic form
You're messin' with me baby
(Ain't the thing to do!)
You're stressin' me baby
(Should have listened to Zazu!)
You can't fly away now, you're stuck!
I have cursed you for pushing your luck!
It won't help to yell
You are under my spell
Look out, parrot - You're a dead duck!

R.I.P Gilbert Gottfried (1955 - 2022)
In memory of gilbert gottfried phil hartman and don rickles
This is my guilty pleasure. 😭❤️❤️❤️
Uh Oa was voiced here by the great Amelia McQueen who also played the red Queen in the 90s Disney channel show "adventures in wonderland"
Just when I thought Iago singing was a one time thing on “The Return of Jafar”, I was wrong... 😓
Actually even burnt Iago is a reference to return of jafar. After he was burnt by Jafar, he was also bandaged up
I’m glad I grew up in CA and only found out about this now
Here's the attraction in a nutshell, they start it normally, then Iago comes in and insults them in song, and then Zazu says tiki gods are going to be annoyed, but obviously, Iago insults that in song as well. Then, the tiki God comes up, and makes Iago go away. Then, while the people exit, he sings more insulting songs. The end. It's Hot Garbage.
That Gilbert Godfreed, he did his best work as the voice of cartoon characters.
still remembered lol
You know the replacement attraction was SO rough that even the late Gilbert Gottfried can't save this one 💀
Loved The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room show
When Jafar’s defeat, Iago is a Good Guy
Iago is not a good guy he looks creepy
I'm probably the only person who actually kinda likes this version. Where else will you see Zazu and Iago interacting with each other? Also the Goddess Uh-Oa animatronic looks amazing. Don't get me wrong I do love the old version but just because I like the old version doesn't mean I'm gonna shit all over this version.
Not the only one - I loved this version!
RIP Don and Phil
Does anyone know of a video that shows the fire?
Man, seeing this makes me think about Iago's VA Gilbert Gottfried which I'll miss :(
It's also a shame Iago and Zazu aren't in this one since people probably hated them for being in the Tiki Room, heartless monsters.
Boy, Iago and Zazu *really* didn't fit the aesthetics of this attraction.
If only they would bring it back to this version
Haha I remember this overlay. I still love it, but the OG is the best
Unlocked a huge memory. I'm glad I didn't hallucinate this. Last time I saw this was during the 25th anniversary of MAgic Kingdom. Awe the cake castle lol
At least the place burned like Iago
I kinda like this version.
Iago: Smokin!(reference to the mask’s catchphrase)
Burnt Iago is a nod to Return Of Jafar where he also got burnt.
In the end, the original is a classic but, given the choice, my favourite tiki room is Get The Fever in Tokyo before the annoying Stitch one took over
Also, Morris was voiced by the late Phil Hartman, a.k.a. Troy McClure from the simpsons.
I think William was voiced by Don Rickles! That's awesome!
It was Don Rickles. Also voiced Mr Potato Head in Toy Story. He died in April this year form kidney failure.
This was the best version
Poor Gilbert Gotfried he will be remembered
This is 1 of the few times where I preferred this version over the original
Alright, where to start with this...(being kind)? The Disney Imagineers started off with a good idea. There is a certain amount of cuteness to this. I probably would have gone to see it in person. One of this show's major sins is that the Iago and Zazu animatronics both look like they are covered with fur and not feathers. The texturing of the false fur should have been done to resemble feathers. You can tell the fur wasn't cut right. Using pop songs reduced the timelessness of this attraction. The show was not a complete loss but the original is better.
11:48 that face sums up this overlay
LOL
I like this one better than the other
Zazu and Iago in The enchanted tiki room
I liked this version better because I liked to hear "The Still of The Night" and "Conga." These versions of those two songs blow away the originals.
I already know by the time I press play to watch this vid: This really should be interesting o_o
This is the epitome of 90's awfulness and I love it.
Apparently, Disney thought the best way to spice up this attraction was with a screaming Iago and twenty million bird puns.
I was sad when I went back to Disney a few years ago only to find out it reverted back to the original - I loved this version, so funny!
Super happy it was caught on film though - thanks for posting it!
Because updating includes having being Gilbert Gottfried yell at you for half an hour, also is the blue bird in preshow voiced by Phil Hartman?
Hailey Shannon it was voiced by Mr. Bean, idk his real name. But it was named Zazu, the bird from Lion King.
@@thedopeypotato his name is Rowan Atkinson
@@aussiefurbymogwaifan6621 ok thank you
@Tabi Clemmons I thought this comment was on a video I was watching about Samsung's new "Galaxy B E A N S" but then I saw "Zazu" and then released "oh this is the enchanted tiki room vid I commented on, not the buds live one" (as someone was joking that they were designed by Rowan's other character, Johnny English)
Thank god I never saw this version irl...
I miss the old one😢
FalconWolf Otaku Thank god it was removed! The overlay sucks!
I love this one better
I've heard so much talk about how this was one of the worst things they ever did to the Disney parks but I have to be honest I don't hate it. Yeah it was executed rather poorly but the new animatronics they introduced looked amazing and both Iago and Zazu are such fun characters that I like seeing them in an attraction like this. I agree it shouldn't have been a whole replacement of the attraction and perhaps just be something they bring out once a year like Nightmare replacing the Haunted Mansion around christmas but I think people overhate it a bit
I should've putted those Iago and Zazu haters out of their miseries for disrespecting Gilbert Gottfried.
Rowan Atkinson never seems to have reprised Zazu in any Lion King or Disney related media.
This kinda makes me sad now
I loved this because this I’ll I know but than it changed to original
I guess Conga was destined to be in the Disney Parks somewhere!!!
When was the audio for this (terrible) version recorded?
Really early 1998
Rowan Atkinson and Gilbert Gottfried were both born in 1955.
What caused the fire?
No one wants to hear Gilbert Godfried sing. STOP IT!!!
He's the voice of Iago.
He also did Jerry The Bellybutton Elf from “Ren And Stimpy.”.
I agree...and God is his singing horrible.
came to the comments to say this
