A helicopter pilot friend of mine who was on exchange with the Royal Navy a few year back told me that one of his favorite things was the galley staff packing a few "butties" for the aircrew to take on long flights. Now I can understand why!
I can’t stand butter on sandwiches. My nanny was a Brit, and my mum of course learned from her ma. Thank god my dad intervened lmao but then again I put actual chips (not fries) in my sandwiches (or used too) I eat a lot healthier then my 10 year old self did
His version looks a bit dry .I would add a generous amount of ketchup mayo and butter .I believe in the southern states of America an equivalent is the" Poor Boy "
THANK YOU! I had lost hope... all the non-video recipes for a good chip butty were adding tomato ketchup!!! SACRILEGE! Just salt and vinegar, like when you have them with fish.
Hi Gabby - do you shop at Makro - There are two in Chiangmai - believe it or not both carry mostly the same stock and the layout similar - heres the difference - Makro on Hangdong Road near Big C - has much more foriegn items - The veg there excellent - The Makro on the super highway seems to be a little behind on quality and even staff interaction - Veg still good! and if you want beef mince use this shop - Hangdong mince up the meat and sell it as ie - rump steak (mince) topside (mince) etc - they sell at the same price as you would pay for the meat (not minced) mince is mnce doesnt matter what cut it was after they have minced it - Anyway - potatoes Makro either store and reasonable better price than tops/central Rimping etc - by far. YOU DO NOT need a membership card to shop - you just tell the cashier no card and they punch in a number and scan your stuff - easy as and i can tell you by none - Makro Hangdong BEST Baguettes around! fresh everyday - the baguettes at Superhighway are dry hard - shocking really! Well there you go - Makro - If you see me there say hello! best, Rik
@@BackyardChef Thanks for the tips! Makro Hang Dong is only a 5-minute drive from my place but I seldom shop there as they don't take card payments. I agree with you about their bakery though, always good stuff!
Chippies add vinegar, ascetic acid or lemon juice to the water of their cut chips. This prevents them from oxidising 😀 My husband, in his student days, worked with a girl who literally lived on chip butties. To make them more healthy, she fried her chips in lard! Yikes 😱 I wonder how she is now (over 40 years later)….?

Agreed there, Allen. Best, Rik
as an ex Brit in the US now I am hungry... In the south where I am I argue with them all the time bread needs BUTTER not mayo for any sandwich!
I use both 😈

Plain and simple - delicious. Best, Rik
As an American, didnt know this was a thing, but I’d totally eat that quite happily. I routinely eat potato burritos with ketchup!
If you seek to step up to the next level add grated cheddar cheese.

The biggest question is where did you get the bread from? I can't find that in Bangkok.
The bread is from Lotus - Lotus's own thick sliced white - 5 slices in a pack I think 35 baht. best, Rik
The Blitz is over it's ok to eat real food again.
