The best part about this is the guy doesn't look young at all. Giving an athletic guy like my self in his mid thirties hope that I will be able to crush my driver like this one day. Looks effortless for so much power. This is good stuff.

Really cool stuff. I think Drews comment about feeling the movement back toward the target "early" is a great illustration of the seemingly mysterious concept of ground forces. His feeling describing his body moving back toward the target at P2 is him instinctively managing centripetal force which is the force that pulls directly away from his center of rotation (his spine) because the mass of the arms, hands, shaft and clubhead are all move along a circular path. In a simple view, its not so much that the body "leads" but the spine must always be pulling in a direction opposite to the line between the clubhead (actually the combo of arms, hands, club) and the spine to efficiently maintain the velocity of the club along its path (club head speed). At P2 the club is pointing directly away from the target, parallel to the target line so his spine must be exerting force toward the target to effortlessly keep the club moving up to the top of the backswing. The direction of this force if always changing as the club moves along that arc and then at the top the velocity is 0 and all can be relaxed. As the club starts back down the whole process starts working again and that stabilizing force in the spine increases in magnitude down to its max through impact where velocity is at its highest. Observing the line between the clubhead and the spine at impact, the force should be applied up, away from the target line and slightly away from the target. Now the only way the spine can exert a force is to be connected to something stable like the ground by being connected through the pelvis, legs, ankles and feet. Hence the feet need to apply a “ground force” 1. down to allow the spine to pull up, 2. toward the target line (shear) to allow the spine to pull back away from the target line and slightly toward the target (shear) to allow the spine to slightly pull away from the target. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the search. We are searching with you.

Thanks for this series of videos. More easily said than done, but seems like Drew’s pressure is moving/hip loading on his trail side well before his takeaway starts. Whereas yours is synced together. Keep up the good work!

Great set of videos guys 🙈🤩🙈🤩 I’m working on the same move now for a couple of months and I find it HARD. Is so struggle with the long irons and woods when I don’t have my day. When I do have my day it’s easy and great fun. It feels so good when you get the motion right but OMG 😱 why have I lost it the day after? I still don’t know and soon hope to find the answer. When I have a heavy ball or so the move comes naturally but with a driver in hand ✋ it Some times seems impossible. Any how I will practice and practice and follow you guys what you do and how I can learn from it.

Interesting to watch in slow motion to make a direct comparison. Drew is so smooth in transition, as he said, his arms and club (and shoulders!) seem to "chill", shaft bends as the hands drop while his lower body moves towards the target. His right elbow is tucked to his side almost before the club leaves horizontal. Followed by a free, natural release. He looks very tall and must have started golf very young to be that supple. In contrast, although your swing is good, the sequencing is not smooth and you do not have so much separation, hips to shoulders (I have hardly any). As a result, as soon as you drive your legs and hips, your shoulders turn and there is no "chill" at the top. I guess you started golf later, I doubt that you can get that separation back. My advice is to improve your transition, probably shorten the swing a touch, and let speed come later with conditioning. Chasing speed now will lose accuracy.

I am learning slowly how I have to start the transition earlier. It is something I never understood until this year.

  • @HolyGrailOfGolf

Brandon, This is just my opinion but I think maybe you're thinking of the swing too vertically. If you adopted more horizontal forces or sheer forces against the ground rather than vertical, I think you can get more leverage and therefore speed. Vertical force only affords you the compressional leverage you can apply downward, whereas I think vertical compression plus sheer or lateral forces, backward and away from the ball, could give you more leverage and speed. Have you looked into comparing swing speed between baseball, a horizontal swing leveraging sheer forces, and golf a more vertical compressional force? I think it might be interesting to measure how much sheer force the biggest hitters use compared to the average golfer that is not utilizing sheer forces at all.
I think I'll try this by putting a launch monitor up about chest height and see if I can swing faster horizontally than I can diagonally.

Drew's swing is so efficient. He nails a smash factor of 1.5 every time. Does he have any thoughts on wrist conditions in order to square the clubface or does he just let the club swing freely?

This is silly and potentially harmful for almost anybody that views this. Go to Shawn Clement for a much better solution. Unfortunately this channel is chasing a secret that does not exist. Exceptional athletes have little to teach average golfers. Calm down and accept this as true.
