How much Robert’s stage persona changed from 1970 and 1973…….from the young guy here with the huge voice, to the man with all that swagger and charisma…the Rock God.
Absolutely unbelievable...fabulous! I was a teen in the 70s. Although I wasnt doing drugs all my friends were. We were all dumbstruck at Zeppelin. I had every album as soon as it came out! Also Zeppelin had 2 frontmen! Plant AND Page!! He actually first did this early on before Zeppelin! And it was AMAZING! 😊 And they were all so good looking!
Greetings from Canada. They cause chaos and disruption... and we love it when they resolve things. Blues Rock supreme... Blues call and response reborn. Peace, love and bellbottoms.
This was recorded on Jimmy's birthday. His mum had bought him a jumper for his birthday, so being the dutiful son he is he wore it. That explains the look. It was also their 'homecoming' show, having been touring. It was at the Royal Albert Hall and recorded by the BBC, so they were on their best behaviour I suspect being nicely brought up young men.
You can't see girls liking this? 🤔 weird. We 'girls' (women) are perfectly capable of appreciating incredible performances by the greatest rock bands such as Led Zep, thanks very much 👍🏻
That guitar work by Jimmy is actually left over from The Yardbird’s band that he was in before he formed Zeppelin. So…1966 or 1967. I will tell you that when I first heard this song on their first album, I was creeped out….it sounded like a soundtrack for a horror movie. But we all got used to it fairly fast…..those o.f us who loved the band. And now it is a fan favorite…….”girls” as well as “boys”. 😉
Robert Plant nor JPJ ever got out of hand drug problems. They drank, used weed and some coke. Never to excess. You get too stoned as a singer, you’re gonna a forget the lyrics, ya know? Regarding Jimmy’s ridiculous sweater vest: That night was his birthday, and I believe his mom had made it, or given it to him and he was wearing it in her honor. What a nice son! 😉. Think of the age difference: Page turned 26 that night, and Plant was still 21….Page is over 4 1/2 years older than Plant. That doesn’t matter so much as one ages, but it’s pretty noticeable here. They were a successful band by January of 1970. They’d put out two albums and had toured madly for a year at this point. This concert was in London, and marked their return to England as a successful band. If I recall, they were not quite yet a super group. That happened by 1971 with the release of their fourth album with Stairway on it. After that, they owned the rock world.

Huh. I have heard about every interview, heard all his podcasts, watched the BBC documentary of his life, which he narrates, read a book on him…….He DID have some occasions when he was terrified, but I do not think for his entire run. He has said that when he was like 14, he couldnt wait to get onstage. He was a natural. The one thing that was an issue was he didn’t know what to do with his hands……and you can see that here. I think Jimmy helped him a bit there ……as well as his trips to Morocco where he saw how people moved their hands to the music. By 1973, you see the gestures that Plant became noted for. He was also terrified at the Knebworth concerts in 1979. The first live show in two years, and the first shows after the unfathomable loss of his son. When he has been terrified, he talks about it freely….like about Knebworth. Also, kicking off his solo career, and learning to lead a band…….all fears he had to overcome. But stage fright for the entire Zeppelin run? I don’t think any more so than EVERY performer. They’re all scared….They just know how to handle it and overcome it….unlike those of us who cannot. Now Barbra Streisand: THERE is a top diva who suffers from horrible stage fright…and has through her entire career.
HA sorry 2nd pause OMG **LUVIT** "Daaayum! hes bout to play the Guitar like a Violin HOLY Sh!t!" heh AND That is what i am talkin bout when i say goin FULL blown **Magical Wizard Mode** Mmmm **Sigh** *Swoon** *Melt**
Dude….Robert Plant never spoke incoherently. If you can find me a clip of that, I’ll stand corrected. Your image of the members of Zeppelin is a little skewed. Jimmy developed bad drug issues around 1975, when he got hooked on smack. Bonzo became an alcoholic. Robert and JPJ never got out of control.
Love this reaction!! I have been a fan of LZ since back then and I loved/love it - stoned or not. and I'm a girl. 😁 Definitely performance art in my book. thanks for the reaction ☮
At the time, it was “very innovative and great”…..Those that just “wanted him to be done” probably did not go on to be Zeppelin fans. Zeppelin is not To everyone’s taste. It appears not to yours. That’s cool. Honest reactions better than fake enthusiasm.

Proper credit should definitely have been given to Jake Holmes. However, Zeppelin's take far surpasses and expands anything found in the original song.
The name of the song is DAZED and CONFUSED. The sounds that Jimmy makes accentuate that and match the title perfectly.

Violin bow. Don't forget about JPJ back there on the bass.
YES JPJ is the Secret Weapon....it seems like he just fills in wherever he's needed.
Ha Yep their concerts were at least 4 hours Non Stop with a couple Encores as well heh

WOW Great Background! It's crazy how in 2024 you can have 1-2 songs and be called a "star" but it took Zep 4 albums to be considered a "rock stars".
I had no idea all of the guys were NOT the same age.
Trust me, the crowd AND the band were high 😂

As they say on our local classic rock radio station "It's Time To Get The Led Out"
Robert had serious stage fright almost throughout their entire 11 years on stage, So he wasn't as loose in the very early gigs
