Old Japanese people who are saying Chinese and Korean people are bad even haven't been to those countries. I'm 61 year old Japanese woman, but I met nice Chinese and Korean people when I went to these countries, so I never say Chinese and Koreans are bad or something. Going to other countries to expand knowledge is super important for the world peace. This is not only for Japanese, but for anyone on the planet.

Yes. Ignorance and fear of the others is the main problem. We have the same kind of bad / stupid people here in France. Every country is plagued by this problem...

Michael Kao No, the problem has been that Chinese have been oppressed for generations been given less right than Americans. I see and hear Americans being loud and do crazy things in public places all the times and no one ever criticize them. It's when Americans can't understand Chinese, it's so easy to discriminate and stereo type. Pick some other bad manners but loudness, definitely not. It's funny the complaint often comes from Chinese people themselves, it only proves that they have low self esteem and submissive to Americans and Japanese. I say screw the racists.

    • @dpzhang9245
      @dpzhang9245 7 років тому +63

it's always funny when American talk about manner. I live in Canada and I've heard so many "nice" things about American's manner from so many people live in America or have been visited there. I'm a Chinese, and I'm not saying we are so good because sometimes some of us are really not, but the truth is everything foreigners do was expanded especially if they are Chinese because western media basically never say good things about China, but people just don't care or even notice if the same thing happens to their own people.

    • @dpzhang9245
      @dpzhang9245 7 років тому +26

Ya, of course Chinese culture is rarely mentioned, but negative things about China? you go tell Trump and Hillary like they haven't said enough.
The differences you remarked is just BS, like you are saying Chinese people are naturally louder than American? I've seen a lot of none Chinese people being loud in public and I could just assume people from their countries are "particularly loud?"

My Japanese school had a strong tie with local Chinese school and we had some exchange students came to our school in Japan. We also visited their school and actually went to Nanjin to participate in raising awareness of what happened during WW2 between Japan and China. Over 10 years later, I went visit Nanjin China as an adult and it got me different perception and guilt of what Japanese soldiers did to Chinese people. It is very important to raise awareness and modify our history textbook on WW2. Many Japanese people are not informed about it. Our parents generation particularly have no idea what Japanese soldiers did to China and Korea.

    • @strife2746
      @strife2746 2 роки тому

While I agree with your point, inundating the Japanese with WW2 guilt is not the way to go. WW2 guilt still runs deep in German society and they are making awful political decision because of it. It is part of the reason why they opened their borders to a million Arabs that destroyed social cohesion and now they silence any kind of dissident within the country that is starting to look more like Orwell's 1984. To push guilt on to a people or entire nation has never lead to anything good or productive.
Raising awareness, yes. Enforcing a guilt-trip? Absolutely not.

I think it is important to hear that there are still some Japanese like you can understand the problems between Japan with China and Korea. Because if we want to solve the problems, firstly we must realize the existence of the problems. TBH, most Chinese won't forgive or forget the crimes what Japanese soldiers did in WWII, but we don't blame these crimes to nowadays young Japanese. Chinese will still open mind to communicate with Japanese, we won't forget history, but we will look forward to future. But it is a pity to learn that Japanese government or education still avoid to talk about these true WWII crimes history. It means there would be a thorn in the heart when Chinese/Japanese/Korean want to start a new start. We don't want compensation from Japan, but we question if we should believe a country that can't admit the history. It influences the political situation and then influences the people. Wish more peace in east asia.

Personally I feel like the main reason why Chinese and Korean think bad of Japanese when it comes to history and politics is Japanese peoples attitudes. The Japanese government doesn't let their people to really learn that part of the history thus Japanese people has little knowledge or interest about those things. That carelessness and ignorance are what really upset Chinese and Korean.

Thing is, Japan probably committed just as bad if not worse crimes against the people of Southeast Asia as the Germans to the Jews and other minority groups. The difference between these two countries today is that Germany acknowledges it with regret and people are very aware of what exactly happened, why, and how. Japan on the other hand downplays the atrocities they committed or altogether avoids the subject entirely and usually become hostile when Korea and especially China bring it up. While it's good that a lot of young Japanese people seem to be more open/tolerant of non-Japanese people, it is a shame that many of them don't know the extent of Japanese aggression during WWII.

Racism in America is always blown so much out of proportion, people don’t even realize that it’s not what it looks like in the media. It’s not like you walk don’t the streets of La and you see a bunch of white guys beating up a group of blacks and Asians that never ever happens. Jiayin Chen never believe in the west for spreading lies and stigma that discredit the Chinese achievements. The Americans are the loudest and there's never any positive news on China on tv here in the states. Chinese Americans are being discriminated against everyday here. Those that point a finger at the Chinese should know they have 3 fingers pointed at themselves.

in my experience the loud and annoying chinese are typically part of the lost generation. "red guards" from the 50s to the 70s who beat their teachers and destroyed their schools as teenagers.
now they're older with no life skills in a world that has left them behind and no care about their behavior. i see some of them in the area i live in in Melbourne. usually they were bought over by their better educated and hard working kids but while here they just kinda sit on upturned buckets, smoke and gamble.

Believe me, the Chinese does not want to deal with north korea anymore. But as long as US is still having their military bases all over east asia and south east asia. We will not stop supporting north korea. Not because we want to, but because US still wants to overturn China as they did to Soviet. Do you forget why we fight in korean war in the first place?

    • @karamnam2961

Soviet yes. China? No. China was having a bad relationship with Soviet because they want Dongbei(north-east China) and China never has any history of interfering in other countries politics and government. We fight because the US military almost marched crossed the Korea/China border and kept booming north-east China, and we felt threatened, thus we fight.

Its funny how We form perceptions based on pre-conceived notions. On my first trip to China I was nervous. In the flight I sat next to an older Chinese lady who probably spoke only Mandarin. I had ordered vegan food so my tray was different from hers. She was so eager to interact even though I did not understand her much, she said I didn’t get all the stuff she got in her food tray so she wanted to share some of her stuff with me. It was almost like she was looking after me. She really reminded me of my grandmother. Even at the airport, everything was so well organized people were so polite from immigration officials to security. After being used to the rude TSA it was so pleasant and wonderful (except for the grey pollution of Shanghai) to be in China. Whenever I read negative China news I remember the kindness of the old Chinese lady and the professional, friendly and positive demeanor of the airport staff in China despite the massive numbers of people and the language barriers at the airport. There are all kinds of people everywhere but the traditional Asian culture is one of hospitality.

I've always concerned about relationship between Koreans and Japanese both national and individual level. I'm Japanese and have lived in U.S. since I was 19. Even living in U.S. there is some sense of distance that I can't help to feel when I tell other Asian citizens that I'm from Japan.
I did not know any detailed history about what Japan had done to our neighboring countries during the colonial period until I attended to this history seminar about Japan's colonization history that was taught by a Japanese professor from a local university. His lecture especially focused on Ianfu (comfort women) issue and under the war conditions; kinds of tortures civilians received by Japanese soldiers and many of the slides with images were so gruesome that I couldn't help to turn my head away.
I was in tears by the end of the seminar. I was only 16 then.
Schools in Japan do mention about Japan's aggression during its colonial period but never enough and way far from what I learned at the local seminar held by the professor. I personally feel that Japan, as an institution, need to be more sensitive and cognizant about its own history and be wiling to teach all of it to its citizens. There were many propaganda to make Japanese citizens believe that Japan was doing the right thing for the country and for its emperor back then. After all this is a history of only within the last century, that propaganda effect is still at work by being passed on between generations. As a result, there are many stubborn nationalists creating more tensions with our neighboring countries' citizens at individual level.
The only way Japan can improve its foreign affair with other Asian countries is to try hard to show that we care, and care enough that we teach our citizens the truth about our history. There will never be a quick fix or ease to this deep rooted Anti-Japanese sentiment trend in other countries but I wholeheartedly believe that teaching the truth to our younger generations may change or improve something. I hate to say it like this to my own country but without an effort to change internally and teaching the truth means to dishonor or hurt the national pride then Japan really would become a hopeless country.

I think this is a very beautiful, heartfelt, and honest comment! I think part of the issue is that those who were in the government then only empowered those who shared the same views, which created the current climate. I've read about some Japanese who opposed imperialism and left Japan after being tortured; some then went to America and were then sent to internment camps :( so it's very complicated as colonization also hurt its own people and I can understand why it would want to be forgotten... But, I believe your awareness and willingness to learn will create a better future and relations for everyone. Although it may take a long time and seem it will never end, it only takes one person at a time! :) Have a day as beautiful as you are~

The problem is Chinese and Korean gov never admit the history what they did in Vietnam and Tibet. what we hope is China an Korea can be bravely facing and admitting these period and history as both of them never refer to they fight each other and killed each other during Korean war. Although we may dislike Chinese and Korean this kind of people, it is hard to hate each individually .

They cannot even research the fact because they dont have the freedom of press and speech. i really like how their perceptions of these issues are. personally, a lot of my family was killed in the war too by japan and my family harbors extreme bad feelings to japan, and i was raised up that way as well. i would get told things like, "never marry a japanese!" or "japanese are bad people, don't be friends with them" and so i've always had these thoughts just lingering in the back of my mind. BUT, i do have some japanese friends and like in the video, i don't really harbor any resentment to that person INDIVIDUALLY. definitely, because i was born in a different generation than my parents, i have different perspectives of things. I know that there are japanese people out there who can be the most kind and loving people and i would for sure be friends with them! But i think for the sake of my family history, and to just respect my elders, i wouldnt ever really try to get "involved" with them. my family means a lot to me and i hold them on a high level. because i was brought up this way to think about japan, it will be really hard to change the thought that i have about them deep deep down. Because this is history, and it's impossible to change history, it really bugs me that Japan is teaching false information to their citizens (students). If japan had (and still can!) take a different approach like how germany did, the 3 countries would definitely have less bad feelings to Japan and each other. All in all, china, japan, and korea and the 3 "main" countries in East Asia and if we were able to get past this issue.. who knows.. these 3 countries could have an incredible power in the world. But, getting over these issues will take time.

I had the same experience before, some of my cousins were killed by Japanese soldiers for no reason, my father's side of the family have bad feelings towards Japan. Especially my father who in particular holds an extremely negative perspective of Japan. I record him saying things like you mentioned in your comment like, "never marry a Japanese!" or " Japanese are cruel" etc. As someone who was born in the late 90s in China, our generation was exposed to many aspects of Japanese culture, and we are educated to see things in different ways.
I have seen a video made by a Japanese UA-camr on the same issue, I was quite shocked as he mentioned "Anti-japanese protest happens all the time" and "Chinese government teaches their children to hate Japanese“. If the Japanese media or government kept on releasing false information and propaganda to their citizens, there will never be a resolution to this issue if the Japanese government doesn't face up to the war crime they committed.
If children are taught with histories of Japanese invasion during WW2 (especially massacre of Nanking) is considered as an Anti-Japanese education. Then our children wouldn't remember those humiliations that had been done to us in the past. "Forgive but not forget", we may have the heart to forgive, but we cannot forget the national humiliation. I hope most Chinese or Korean realize that current Japanese civilians have nothing to do with the imperialist Japanese army in the past, and I pray for the peace of these three countries and the world.

yixing 艺兴 same, I guess every Chinese are raised into hating the Japanese by the media. Not the news but mainly the TV shows about wars.
And still the media giving us the idea that Japanese government trying to start a war.
On the one hand side we all know Japanese are all well manner and educated, role model for all Asian countries. On the other side we are not happy with ho they treat the history and the government and that hates sometimes stupidly leads to individuals.
I been living overseas and I love all the Japanese youths I met. But we never got into talking to history with them even tho I did that all the time with my Korean friends. I guess that the sensitive part of it.
I really think that see Japanese people showing sympathy towards us will make a huge difference. And knowing that new generation Japanese youths do aware what the horrible things happened before means a lot to us.
Really hope that there are only peace and love between all nations and races one day.

I have a feeling that Japan (the government) doesn`t appologize, cause that would mean admitting everything and that would justify any future threats from Korea or China and since Japan without any army and basically just totally dependent on America wouldn`t have a chance agains combined Korea and China together with all the other parts of Asia that it fucked over during the 20th century, if they decided to invade Japan. also I think that the Japanese people think that being bombed during WW2- mostly the atomic bombs but also the destruction of Tokyo or massacre on Okinawa gives them the feeling that they have also suffered during WW2 and the american occupation, so maybe from their perspective they have already `paid` enaught for what they did and deserve a clean sleight. like, `ok, we fucked you, you fucked us, we`re even, so lets move on`. but then of course I`m not Japanese, so that is just my personal opinion.
I would be interested in hearing from you, if you want to, or feel the need to, continue the tradition of `Japan-hate` for the sake of being loyal to your family, or would you rather not raise your kids with the same hate that you were raised?

I guess we are angry about Japanese government had a lot to do with how the German did after war. When I talked to Germans about politics and how they feel about refugees. I really felt the guilts they have seriously.! not even kidding. People are educated to not do the same things again and feel like they owe the world something.!! The way they treat the refugees.
But what did Japan do? Not educating the next generations about those histories, still having a world top force so called "self defense force". Worshipping the soldiers.

I am Chinese and I think it does not matter where you are from as long as you remember history and have an attitude to prevent those painful moments from ever happening again. What is done is done. We could not do anything about it anymore. However, if we drop the grudge and move on, there is so much more could be achieved in the future. Why could not Asia have an union like the EU? I think all Asian countries should stick together and form benign economic and cultural bond as our cultures have so much in common. And that would just make all of us better and stronger!

    • @Commodor221

As a french, we kind of have the two side of the story for the first and second world war. First, being assholes to the germans with the economic punishments they had and having the pro nazi governement ruling for a few years. Yet today we're really friendly and close with germany. Wich led to the EU later, the wish to not have this madness again.
It is highly possible to see the rise of an Asian Union, and i'm pretty sure it would be really good to see. But, there's thing to be done, and it's not going to be done soon. Korean reunification (with progressive reintegration), true diplomacy between the EU, USA, China, Russia, wich are the 4 elephants in the porcelain store.
I sincerely hope sometime EU (and especially France) would also get away from the NATO, and truly be independant and be the link between all of those country in the corners. We've gone through enough together, to stop being adversaries. Look again at the love shared between France and Germany peoples, it's a hint to help our future.

So, I want you to understand not all of Japanese ppl don't know what happened about 70 years ago because some ppl like me studying history and International politics know more details in the history.

      PS.

To be honest, Chinese resentment of Japanese is good for Koreans. Chinese are more willing to buy Koreans products over Japanese, simply because of this. And since China and Korea were mostly always in good terms, its beneficial to both countries. Japanese has too high of an ego, wait 30 years and let their economy and population to continue to shrink and, the Japanese would start to be humble.

Im sorry but do you know how many people are living in ASEAN nations? over half a BILLION people are living in those remarkably progressing nations and they are mainly so friendly to Japanese and Japanese products like cars or hi-tec things are very popular among them and we dont need to be depending on chinx market thanx lol and uh- dont forget about great nation like India which has also been growing rapidly

Dazzlin Stars Last time I checked ASEAN together don't even account for 1/3 of China's economy. And its not like ASEAN has no option but to only buy Japanese products.
The truth is, Japan is becoming increasingly non-competitive and will continue to decline in economic and cultural influence in the coming 10-20 years.

I am sorry but I just tell the FACT for you, a Japanese:) Actually many Asians from ASEAN Nations doesn't like Japan.(not means they like others. but they will think other countries is better than japan) Don't you know that video? One Japanese just asked that why CK doesn't like Japan and lead the Hate. Then, A Southeast Asian answered 'It is not only CK who hate Japan. All the Asian countries hate Japan and the REASON why it doesn't be broadcast is that it is too violent to be broadcast:)'
And in my opinion, I think there are two reasons why their hate does not be broadcast in Japan
      1. Japanese media is Japanese thing. So, It have to be mixed with the news which lead the hate of the Rightist for Japanese politicians. And the best way for this is to show CK's hate for Japan.
      2. Southeast Asians hate Japan. It is the FACT. But, they also hate each other so that they should attack to each other so, not always express about the hate about Japan.
      3. I think you have never ever left Japan, right? So, I want to tell you the FACT which the Japanese media never show. I have lived in China, Korea, and Japan all.
The ONLY country which do the BIG scale HATE SPEECH every weekend. If you go to CK, people can ask you about history man to man. BUT, The ONLY country which do the BIG HATE SPEECH officially, is ONLY JAPAN.
Sometimes CK and other Asian countries do this things as big scales, but they do not this persistently in the CENTER of the CITY LIKES JAPAN.
I want to tell one more time. Other contries also do Hate speech about Japan. BUT the SCALE is not SAME, THEY did not it in the CENTRAL of the city EVERY WEEKEND.

DO NOT simply assume that we ALL hate Japan. If we hated Japan, we would never have traded with them. The 21st century is a time when we should promote peace and stability, so I hope that you do not spread any false information which may spread further hate and create a rift between people of different nations. Thank you :)

It's interesting to hear their thoughts. In North America, I think Asians, whether you are Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Filipino, Vietnamese etc, we tend to band together and understand each other more because we are all people of color and visible minorities who face discrimination. Having been born in North America, I don't have any negative opinions of my Japanese-Canadian friends, and neither do they have a negative view of me as a Chinese-Canadian. Instead, we see our commonalities rather than differences.

I don't even want to ask modern people about the sins of my ancestors in the past.
The victims are all dead or very old, so there is no need for reparations.
I hope all of East Asia can be best friends and cooperate.
In order to do so, it is necessary to face history, make no excuses, and do not hesitate.

I resent Japan as a country. My great grandmother was one of the infamous comfort women and my grandparents suffered a lot as well. However, it wouldn't be fair to judge the Japanese people I come across. It is an individual but also a stranger; to blindly hate someone would make little sense. I have only come across friendly Japanese people in real life, but it is easy to sense the deep down hatred; from both sides. You can get along as long as the conversation doesn't get too deep. I would be okay with having Japanese friends, but things like marriage or moving to Japan would be big no no's in my family. The did too much damage to be forgiven and forgotten and the deep down hate is so ingrained that it is hard to get rid of. I hope these younger people teach their children as well considering the government tries to censor everything. Japanese people aren't all irrational or bad people so it'd be good if the good ones tried to teach their children to be as open-minded as the people in this video :D

You're probably not even Korean, but if what you says true, its because your family was extremely poor (or possible Chinese-Korean) and helpless. The Koreans would have made your family suffer if Japanese hadn't. In fact maybe x10 more suffering would have been brought upon ur family if Koreans had put them to work as comfort woman for the Korean mercenaries in the Japanese Army. Think about it. Chinese men didn't find Korean mercenaries too friendly.

What Koreans like to conveniently avoid is that Koreans did the same exact thing with comfort women during the Vietnam War. Some Koreans love to deny this even happened, just like the Japanese did a long time ago. But the Vietnamese government already forgave Korea for its crimes and Korea never gave an official apology. Such hypocrites. Look it up if you've never heard of this before. Of course, the Korean government loves to conveniently not talk about it.

not sure how they teach kids in school about history in china/japan/korea. usually each countries have different version of history so the students won't be able to know the actual fact. my grandfather was born during dutch colonialism (before japanese came to indonesia) and he hates japanese a lot saying they're bad people. people who experienced how horrible it was can't be compared with us young generations who only knows some stories that are told/learnt at school. i've lived in japan and to me, japanese are all very kind and polite. i've visited korea twice (first time w/ my fam and the second one was last month, by myself) i met nice and rude people there (almost got hit by car too in pedestrian area, my kr friend said it's korean culture - oh well), never been to china myself but i have quite a lot of chinese friends, they're very kind and educated people. but i can't say much positive things to most chinese tourists i've seen whenever i was abroad, saw some in japan for being so rude to the store clerk, cutting lines and there was a lady who wanted to cut the q at the TRS counter in australia saying she's on the rush and trying to q on the line where ppl already sorted out their receipts through the app, the officer said "everyone here are on rush too, sort your receipt on the app or q", my friend's mom even got into a fight once with chinese tourists bc they cut off the line during the tax return thingy at the airport (it was in europe). most of the stereotypical rude chinese tourists are new money, can't say anything much beside rolling my eyes haha.
all countries have both positive and negative aspects, people just need to be open minded about it. (this is just my midnight thought haha cheers)

The USA is even worse. I've had friends from Japan for most of my life. They all seem to think that by comparison, there's actually much more racism in the states. And in the US it's much more outspoken, especially from racial minorities. But to me, it just seems odd that seemingly so many people migrated to a new place to escape racism only to find that there's just as much racism there.

hahahaha this video just shows the 'perfect& official Japanese'... Actually, I am living in Japan and most of my friends is Japanese. But, if someone who is Chinese or Korean meets a Japanese, at first, they will answer likes this video. BUT, if you live in Japan for a long time, you can realize 'HOW REALLY Japanese thinks about Korea or China'. They think both Korea and China are in LOW LEVEL than Japan. They can hide their hate about China and Korea, but, they can't hide their sense. In usual days, while talking with Japanese, they appear sense of SUPERIORITY unconsciously. Even though, I am studying at a very very popular university in Japan, and so many of my friends is SO elites in Japan, and I am so rich in Japan(means not acting like uneducated person), Japanese Unconsciously tends to be superior to Chinese-Korean and sometimes this makes me feel sad & bad,,,, even though I really really love my Japanese freinds...

I am just talking about Japanese's RUDE, ARROGANT, and POOR attitude. Japanese CAN'T accept an Asian country could be better than Japan, even if it will be in AN area, (even NOT ALL AREA). Japanese still live in WW2 or 1980s.

I have lived in various countries and cities so that I can speak various languages and experienced various cultures which are very interesting . Before I came to Japan, it also was. BUT, now I am tired of Japan's two faces.
      1. Why did you praise North America but blame Indian Latin Americans:)?
I REALLY CAN'T understand your attitude which try to be superior to other country, using USA.
Japanese usually tend to think USA is NOT a good, 'DEVELOPED' country. They say Americans are always loud, stupid, and other bad words.... Why exploit USA at the moment when only you need?
      2. Ohhhhhh WW2..... you guys ALWAYS say about WW2!
WE DID THE BEST! WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ASIAN COUNTRIES ANYMORE!
If there were illegal immigrants from other countries to Japan in THAT period, the CAUSE is Japan's irresponsible & SEVERE brutality. Are you kedding me now:)???
Then, why GERMANY did these soooooooo many apologies? why German PM still go to other European counties which they severely attacked and apologize every year? why Germany-France-UK made national-published textbooks? WHY European countries support German as the LEADER of EU? even German did extremely horrible, cruel, merciless acts????????????
I have never ever said about WW2 before you start but, I also think CK people are quiet emotional for this problem. and Japan try to do their best and many Japanese who are interesting in Politics is the rightist so politicians tend to cuzy up to them.
BUT, I think if Japan apologize with their best faith same as Germany, they just STOP visiting to YASUKUNI, they make the Japanese solders meet WW2' VICTIMS and apologize man to man, I think Japan will be a good country much better than now. Not about money, Asian people just want a REAL APOLOGY.

I am genuinely inspired by the way that these young Japanese people are capable of being so open-minded to the point of not only accepting other races but also accepting the racism of the older generation, not by agreeing with it but by seeing the other side that the people of the older generation just don't know any better because of lack of exposure. Japan's already profound culture seems to be going even further to greatness.
