This was such a lovely and comprehensive discussion and comparison! No one compared Jane Eyre to Rebecca to me and I'm glad because I think it would have put in a lot of added pressure. I am still avoiding the new film of Rebecca because I'm pretty sure I would be disappointed. I loved your dream casting and Viola Davis couldn't have been a better pick for Mrs. Danvers.
Oh you were one of the lucky ones then to read with no comparison LOL! I sounded a bit harsh about the film I think because my expectation was so high. But I imagine viewers who havent read the book would perhaps enjoy it, because it is an engaging premise. Hehe, I just need to somehow raise $100M to produce my film version! Thanks for watching!
Clever and shit, I love it haha. I was planning to read this around Halloween but couldn't get it from the library in time. I still have it on hold so I might pick it up if I'm feeling in a dark, atmospheric mood again before the end of the year! I think there was an older adaptation of it that most people seem to like, I think it was in black and white? That one might work better for you than the Netflix one did
Definitely pick it up if you're in the mood! Yes after I filmed this I saw there is a Hitchcock adaptation. Will definitely get on that for redemption's sake. Thanks! ❤️
It's been on my tbr for a long time too! I planned on reading it for Halloween this year but failed :/ I'm here for the 'suspenseful gothic' atmosphere like Jane Eyre, but I appreciate that it's a completely different type of book to Jane Eyre
No, I can't believe I finally read it, hehe! I reckon you'll love Rebecca whenever you do. Ah yes I have a couple of belated halloween reads coming up- Stephen King and Shirley Jackson - which I'm hoping I don't chicken out of! 😰
