Your strategy for NA was absolutely correct - Austen is hilarious but you gotta get a feel for the tone.
"...f, g, h...?" is how i think of them too 😂😂😂 and now you have ALL the steamy regency romances to read 😂i love that for you. Also, skip Benedict's story and GO TO COLIN'S. trust me.
I agree with you 100% about the race thing on Bridgerton. I have no idea why they thought that was a good idea. like you said, Hamilton has effectively proved that you can cast whoever and leave it at that.
i love what you said about reading Heyer enhancing your experience of Austen because OF COURSE, that makes so much sense! Austen wouldn't have commented on half the things she experienced because it was just life for her but Heyer needs to explain that world to her readers and that helps. I'm so glad you loved Frederica! i'd have been so sad if you hadn't. Read Venetia next! (also I love the dogs! the one in Arabella is my favorite of all time, esp the description of great bark off in the middle of the street. but no, these two are the two big dog stories 😂 though she does use descriptions of dogs, esp their breed and training, to comment on people's character - which i just think is very british)
I don't know if i understood your question - are you asking about the heyer heroines trying to be as independent as they can?

Thanks Amrita! TBH I don't even know what I'm asking re: Heyer's Heroines 🤣. I think I confused myself and perhaps overthought it. I guess I naturally saw the similarities between dogs/women finding domestic situations and being taken care of.. etc... But I think you're right saying it is a very British societal thing, much like the horses, and many of the other cultural aspects that Heyer described in detail. I have so much to discover and so excited that I am only at the beginning of this beautiful Heyer journey! Oh and YES I am totally skipping and moving onto Colin and Penelope's story 😍😍 Also curious about Eloise. Ah so much to look forward to!

Georgette Heyer is a wonderful writer, witty, often hilarious and overhead them all, her detective novels are good too.

Fantastic! Hmm I have Venetia, These Old Shades, and Convenient Marriage ready to go - which one do you think I should next? 🤔😀

Well I love These Old Shades and it's sequel Devils Cub, but honestly, they are all well worth reading. ☺

I haven't read any regency romance novels, but it sounds like it could be fun. I keep hearing great things about Bridgerton on Netflix, so I may have to try it out some time! How interesting that you have a background as an actress! I like colorblind casting and have never found it to affect my enjoyment.
Yay, Robin Hobb! I personally did not connect with Jade City until the last 200 pages, and it was kind of an act of will at that point. My opinion is very unpopular as most people thoroughly love that book. Still looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you get to it!

They are so much fun, but definitely, like every other junk indulgence, you do get a bit hungover and crave some more balanced reads/viewingng🤣 Ooh that's interesting to hear your thoughts on Jade City. I prefer hearing some mixed responses as my hype and expectation gets grounded a bit. Thanks for watching!

How awkward would it have been if you ended up hating Northanger Abbey? 😆 While the Bridgerton books didn't end up being my favorite, I'm so glad you've joined us in the regency romance world!

I LOVED IT! And since this video I am very much into Bridgerton and quite a few regency romances. Even a bit of Tessa Dare...anything with a Scot in a kilt, I will give it a go LOL. I hope you and your reading life are well, Sam!

@@sunandmoodreads2333 honestly, i feel the Scottish romances too hahaha something about Scottish landscapes seems so romantic. I'm doing as well as I can be, but I would say my reading life is thriving right now! I hope you're well too!
