Hello! I’m actually in a surgical tech program striving to get my AA. After graduation, what do you recommend I do to become a CRNA?
You didn't give the link to the NYU langone residency program
And many schools are shedding off the GRE especially with covid-19 and need for CRNAs.
GRE isn't predictive of performance.
I’m a RN, BSN. Luckily, Got my foot in the door into the ICU fresh out of college. 1 year 3 months experience as an ICU nurse thus far. Gonna sit for my CCRN exam in August! I’m excited to get closer each day!
Awesome. Sounds great.
goodluck brotha!
Any tips on getting ICU job right out of school?
@@sarahajiebrahimi7887 get into residency program
Yeeessss 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for these motivational videos, please keep them coming. I spoke with my manager and I am now pending transfer to my hospitals ICU, I’m so excited!!
I am so excited for you. You will learn so much and grow each and every day. Keep positive and never give up. I am proud of you.
Thank you for giving back. Alot of nursing youtubers but not much CRNA ones out there.
Granddaughter attended UNi of Houston ABSN course 11 months 8 days. She graduated 1st academically 4.0 GPA.
I
Was told that hospitals where I lived doesn’t do new graduates icu but after watching your video I didn’t my research it’s was true they have residency program, thanks to you
I always recommend doing your own research. I am happy to hear that. Knowledge is power.
Thank you so much for sharing!! This is my ultimate goal!! I just graduated nursing school. And this video helped tremendously. Thanks again
You are my inspiration 🥰
Thanks for the video. Just an FYI, if you are going into a ABSN program and have completed a non science vacuoles previously like art, you need a year or more for your science pre requisites. So tack a year on the front end and two years on the back end because all CRNA schools are doctoral now.
Wow, I was not expecting the video to open up with how someone with an art degree can actually get started by not starting all the way over. Currently I'm going back to school to pursue medical coding and started working at a pharmacy. It's all foreign to me and makes me wonder what other things that I could do that I've never thought of.
Love your videos so much inspiration. Starting a career change I’m so excited and more motivated. Thanks 😁
So I have a Mathematics degree & I am taking my prerequisites right now. I was looking at going straight into the DNAP program after I finish my BSN.
Thank you so much for the tips. I live in Sydney and you’re my inspiration to be a Registered Nurse Anaesthetist ❤️
hi ! thank you for making videos that helps people .I am 32 years old . I am an anesthestia nurse in my country in Iran . I am so much eager to pursue my career in the states . I have at least 7 years of experience in anesthesia . I know i can't work there with my degree but i don't know what to do . I want to evaluate my license or maybe taking CRNA program and start over . what should i do?💯
Hello Thrive CRNA, I’m a Canadian and currently in my 1st year of nursing school. There are no CRNA schools here in Canada so I’m planning to go to the USA for CRNA program after I become a nurse and get an ICU experience. What I’d like to ask you is: do the residency programs in nursing accept Canadians? I appreciate your response. Thank you.
It depends on the institution. Due to a shortage in acute care nurses, the demand has increased. You will need to be a BSN and take the NCLEX exam. I would recommend contacting a few teaching hospitals and ask the requirements needed for there specific program.
Me too
Please do CRNA schools accept international students directly from their home country?
I have questions: Do you have any tips for taking the tests to become a crna? Also can you explain step by step from what to do right after high school (like classes to take, tests to take, when to apply for crna school, etc.)? How long does it usually take to become a crna? (Sorry for asking a lot of questions lol) 💕
Great question. I have many videos that goes over those exact questions in detail. Check out my playlist. I hope this helps.
I’m in a masters entry into nursing practice (MENP) which takes 5 years. So I will graduate with a bachelors of health science and masters of nursing. The same school offers crna school. I’m in my second year right now!!
Which school you get in??
Can you take the Mcat. I know GRE is required but the Mcat can set you aside right.
Hi dear ,
Thanks for the video.
May I ask if I am a cath lab nurse.
Do I have the chane to become CRNA?
I loved your video!!
You inspired me
how can you become a crna if you have a bachelor's degree in midwifery?
Christine!!! Please tell us if MD'S are respectful to CRNA? Like have you had any bad experience with MD Anesthesiologist
I noticed you mentioned someone who went the Accelerated Bachelors route, went straight to the ICU and got accepted into a CRNA program within a year. Do you happen to know if CRNA programs weigh GPA a bit differently in the case of the accelerated programs? For example, if a traditional BSN student had a 3.7, but an accelerated student in a 12 month program had a 3.4 gpa, would they consider the speed of the program and how that could impact grades?
Thanks for your comment. I do not think BSN vs. Accelerate BSN would have a difference in grades. You should have good grades for both types of programs.
@@ThriveCRNAis there any accelerated bsn to dnp program? I have a bachelor's degree in finance &acctg😢, but really dont want to go for bsn & then dnp program.
Hello! Thank you for making this video! It was really helpful. I am a rising junior in high school and I definitely want to work in the medical/health care field, but I’m not sure on what type of nursing or the degree of nursing I want. How do I shadow different health care workers?
Thank you, so much! Your channel has been incredibly helpful to me and I will definitely be subscribing.
I pretty much know exactly how I am going to do this now. I just have one question.
Getting into CRNA school seems really competitive. How do you get accepted after only one or two years of ICU nursing? AKA the bare minimum?
I want to be a fully fledged CRNA by the time I'm 26 or 27 so I will have all my debt paid by the time I am thirty.

@@ThriveCRNA Wow, you are on top of things! Thanks!!!
Did I need any kind of certification after getting one year experience of ICU
Thanks for sharing!!🗣️❤️
Thanks for watching
Does it matter where you get your BSN from as long as the school is appropriately accredited?
Thank you for all your videos. They are so inspirational and informative. Do you recommend sharing with your hiring manager of the ICU, that you have your eyes set on CRNA school?
I am happy to inspire and motivate you. I would recommend when speaking to your hiring ICU manager, to focus on only wanting to gain critical care skills in nursing.
I think I read somewhere by 2025 you would have to get dnp crna. I’m going to apply for accelerated msn programs and hopefully in the future if I’m up for it apply for a crna program
Yes, check out this video, it goes into depth on your specific comment about transition to DNAP: ua-cam.com/video/rVHZP0TDen4/v-deo.html
What school do you attend?
Thanks for information and encouragement
Thanks for watching. I am happy my video helped you.
I keep hearing that doctorate programs prefer RNs with min 2-3 years of ICU experience, but I want to push that goal forward after I graduate (second semester BSN currently). What do you think made your friend's application, with less than a year of experience, stand out? Thanks for the tips and videos, they're keeping me motivated and inspired!
My friend got accepted into a Master's prepared CRNA program. There might be some variations in each CRNA program requirements. Some schools want a minimum of 1 years vs. Others might want multiple years of experience. Here are some videos that can help you with your question in detail and CRNA program application tips and tricks. @@ThriveCRNA thanks!
I’m 26 and have no medical experience, I’m thinking of starting a BSN program. Do you think I am to old to pursue and end goal of CRNA
Thanks for comment. Age is just a number. If you desire to get your BSN, you should do it.
Thanks! I think I will! You are very inspiring, hope too follow in your foot steps soon....soon being 12 or so years, but hey time goes by quickly! Haha
Check out this video in regards to length of school in detail. It can be faster depending on you. ua-cam.com/video/kC_sNPBr5Ws/v-deo.html
Nope I Pam getting my bachelor at the age of 30.
You're definitely not. My mom is 55 and wants to go back to school.
Great Video, I have a question. So when you get accepted in crna school and start it, do you still keep working in the icu or quit so that you can study?
I have yet to come across any video where a SRNA is able to work. The course it rigorous!
Can you do this with a bachelors in health care administration? And about how long in total for schooling and training?
Is there resident icu nurse programs in Illinois?
Hi can you go into crna program and work as an RN at the same time?
Thank you so much for your help. I'll be starting my Accelerated BSN in the fall. Would this same path still be applicable, or have some things changed?
Same path. You are on the right track.
@@ThriveCRNA Thank you so much for your help. You’ve really put things into perspective in such a concise manner 🥰
I am happy to help.
What is the eligible criteria for anaesthesiologist
hopefully I'm there in like 10 years 🙏
Hi! I’m in my sophomore year of highschool right now and i’ve been planning on going with the medical route for my career and being a CRNA definitely caught my eye, but I have no idea how to get started because it feels early for me to start anything😭. Do you have any recommendations that can help me get started on a few things before college?
Thanks for your comment. I would recommend keeping your options open within the medical field. Look into shadowing a MD, RN and a CRNA. Focus on keeping high grades in school and be active in extracurricular activities. Research colleges for BSN nursing. You can become a registered nurse and obtain your requirements for CRNA school and medical school.
Me as well! I’m stuck and don’t know how to get started ughh lol
How can I get a job in ICU as a new graduate?
I am a Registered Nurse and Nurse Anesthetist in Zimbabwe
I want to be a CRNA
How can I go about it
Love this!
what do the initials CRNA stand for?
Could I get a CNA job on a ICU/CCU unit while getting my Associates then see if they’ll pay for my BSN after I graduate can I apply for CRNA and let them know I’ve been working for 3 years on ICU as a CNA while going to school?
I would recommend asking different hospitals in the ICU that specific questions. Every hospital is different.
You can work as a CNA and obtain you associate RN. When you obtain your associate RN, some hospitals will help you pay for your BSN while working as a associates RN.
Thrive CRNA Thanks so much for the info. I love your channel ❤️
CNA experience in the ICU ≠ RN ICU experience. You would still need 1-2 years of ICU experience as a registered nurse overall to be eligible to apply for a CRNA program. Even then, competitive candidates for CRNA programs have 3-5+ years ICU experience as an RN at level 1/2 trauma hospitals with CCRN credentials.
Can you do the accelerated bachelor of nursing with no schooling
In order to apply for accelerated BSN program, you will need to have a Bachelors degree in another area as well as have prerequisites course for nursing.
@@ThriveCRNA thank you
Thank you for this wonderful video. I am a medical technologist with 2 years ongoing experience. Do I need to go through the accelerated nursing program before I apply or will I be accepted if I apply directly to CCRNA schools ?
If you have a Bachelors degree in another degree, you can apply to a accelerated BSN program.
Thrive CRNA Thanks for your reply . All my life before college and up till now, I’ve worked in a hospital/clinical settings and I love it.
Applying through the (accelerated BSN program min. 18 months) + (minimum of 1 year in ICU) + (3 - 4 years CRNA school) equates or slightly less than to going to medical school and becoming a doctor (max 8yrs for highly specialty - anesthesiologist ).
Time is my key factor . Wish it’s lesser for someone with a healthcare related experience and background;) .
You are doing a great job by enlightening people about this rewarding career through this media. More power to you.
What about a masters program to ICU to CRNA?
Do you have to go to an college for school. Or just nursing??
You have to obtain a Bachelors in nursing and then a masters or doctoral in nurse anesthesia.
What about ER? Could I do that to become a CRNA ?
No, most school don’t consider ER as intensive critical care. What you can do, to get a good idea, scope schools around your area and it will show you the requirements. But out of 6 schools I scoped, all said: NO ER lol
Was the program super hard? I'm not exactly the smartest but I try my best.

Ma'am, it's a so inspiring video for me because I wanted to become CRNA my bachelor done recently and I had 4year icu experience now I'm trying for a scholarship for crna so plz. guide me for the rest of the activity
Do you see a lot of kid patients ? I’m really interested in pediatric nursing but I want a high paying job as well
It depends on the hospital or outpatient area. You can specialize in pediatrics. There are alot of opportunities in a variety of specialties. Focusing on pediatrics should not be an issue.
I have a CRNA friend that specializes in pediatric and loves it. You will have the opportunity to be a pediatrics CRNA if you desire. You have a lot of options as a CRNA. I have a good amount of experience with the healthy pediatrics population at my hospital and it is a great skill set to have.
Hello every one
I'm anethesia technologist ,can i become a CRNA ?
What the steps that i have to do ?
How much did u spend for 1 year residency program in NY?
It was completely free. I actually was paid a graduate RN salary. The semester after my junior year of college, I applied and got accepted to do a paid internship in the ICU at NYU medical center. This opportunity allowed a smooth transition into the nurse residency program.
That's an amazing opportunity. I am a nurse overseas. Planning to work as an RN in the US and enroll and be a CRNA. It's my dream
Please I am a RN,i want to become a CRNA

So I can go into crna school with a bachelors of nursing ? Why did I think I needed my masters first lol
Thats right
I want to become a PA. Any tips?
Me too do you have any information please
There’s no FAST way to become a CRNA.....and if you do get there “fast”, then you’ve surely missed a few crucial steps! 😳
I am a undergrad nursing student, and I was looking at the requirements for a CRNA school I am interested in. On their website, one of the requirements said they need a science gpa of 3.0. Does that gpa weigh a lot on the application?
Some CRNA programs have specific requirements. If they have a minimum to achieve in a specific area on your application, try your best to reach that goal. If you have low grades in certain science classes, I would recommend retaking some to raise your grades.
Are the residencies paid?
Thanks for your comment. Here is a video that discuss RN residency program. ua-cam.com/video/kDWjVBx6EQg/v-deo.html
I love you ❤️😭
Does anyone know if this works for Australia too 😩😩 I wanna become a CRNA in Australia but google ain’t telling me much :((
I am not aware of CRNA practice internationally especially in Australia. I would recommend visiting a hospital or facility and ask about anesthesia providers.
@@ThriveCRNA thank you! That's an awesome idea :D
I love your videos, very inspiring & encouraging! Do you think the market for CRNAs will eventually become saturated in the next few years? I am meeting sooo many SRNAs and sooo many people who want to get into CRNA school. My goal is to become a CRNA no matter what ❤️
Thanks for watching. In my opinion, there are more than enough jobs for everyone. There is a need for CRNA'S across the country. Keep focusing on your goals and inspirations. I love being a CRNA.
@@ThriveCRNA Thank you for replying. God bless you!
Are you currently in the ICU?
I am still in nursing school, I am a nurse tech in the ICU
Every icu nurse residency usually requires a contract of 2-3 years, how do you get around that ?
When I was in the ICU, I did not have to sign a contract for 2-3 years. It depends on the hospital.
Is it a shorter path to become one if my major as a freshman in college is nursing?
Yes
I’m in a masters entry into nursing practice (MENP) which takes 5 years. So I will graduate with a bachelors of health science and masters of nursing. The same school offers crna school. I’m in my second year right now!!
Awesome. That sounds like a cool program. How are you liking it?

Jana Notice DePaul University
I want to become a PA. Any tips?
Thanks for your comment. I do not know alot about PA route. Looking online, you will need a bachelor's degree and then apply to a masters program. I would recommend checking the PA association website for specific instructions. I hope this helps.
