Your painting are awesome glad I found you on UTube! I am from the U.S.A. Live in Pennsylvania. Will always watch you!! Love love love your work!! Missy❤😊
Hi Ian, I'm from Maine US and recently started my journey on teaching myself how to paint a year ago...a lifelong passion of mine. I've done a few online tutorials, trying to find 'my place' in the art world and recently completed a palette knife painting course. I have always wanted to learn how to paint a misty background and have come up short. Also, blending colors. It has been a struggle because of the quick drying time of acrylics. I apparently ordered a Golden 'retarder' a while ago and wasn't quite sure how to use it and my Google search came up with this video, and I watched it. So, voila, here I am. I really enjoyed watching this video so much and loved how you explained each step so well . I subscribed to your channel and have watched several of your videos already. Thank you for your instruction. You explain your process so well and it doesn't feel rushed.
Ian, You’ve come a long way I remember when you first started and you painted your face you’re a funny guy then I haven’t seen you in a long time but I am going to watch you more often and subscribe keep up the good work
Thank you for all your paintings you do teaching and sharing. I found your channel the middle of 2022 when I began looking for guidance. I always learn something from them. Currently I am doing some digital paintings until the weather opens and I can go outside.
I get a lot out of your tutorials Ian. I really like the step by step approach. I can paint as I go. Works for me. You did a great job with those trees by the way. I may add a fox soaking up the moonlight in the foreground.
I tried painting this winter landscape, everything came out okay, except my trees-they were horrible, finally decided to put in one tree only-remembered what u said about working with it if it’s not what u want at first-reworked it 3 times and it’s the best pine tree I’ve ever done!! Ty for reminding us that we can rework an element in our work!
Hi Ian , I am from the uk and after 35 years of Not picking up a brush or pencil started going to an art class to see if I could create. I found your channel 1 month ago when I wanted advice on clouds and sky.. to say your way was a breath of fresh air detailed informative and informal .. I love your videos which are great for novices like myself.Thank you so much . I have managed a seascape wave which I am proud of and will be attempting the misty mountain next week You are truly an inspiration!❤
Hi Ian! I’m from Columbia, SC. Your paintings are wonderful and your instructions easy to follow. You are one of the few instructors who provide detailed instructions to assist those of us who are less experienced in acrylic painting. Thank your for sharing!
I love your painting style. I got a pick of your paint tubs organizer . And where I could get one. Also have you done any class on how to organize almost from beginning. Thanks, hamid
I started painting 2 years ago. Thanks for this post I'm trying it today. You are a very good teacher. I'm from the southern Appalachians of northern Georgia, USA. You popped up on my UA-cam feed.
Just found your channel - and joined. Coming from watercolor & gouache, I've struggled with Acrylic painting (drying time issues). Your videos have been the most helpful resource I've found thus far. Books are useful, but video tutorials are the best thing for me, next to actual in-person classes. Thanks for providing outstanding easy to follow art instruction. I am from the State of Kentucky, USA.
Hi Ian, I love your tutorials, they are easy to follow and you talk us through them completely, no speed up or time lapse like some. Your explanations are easy to understand and you technique easy to follow. Thanks for making art interesting again. PhilW from Victoria Aus.👍
Thank you so much Ian , its great to find your video, the way your tutorial goes makes much easier to follow, especially the misty around the mountains . All the best. 🎉🎉
Admire your talent !. Appreciate the patient explanation & tips. Background music works well. Thankyou from New Jersey, USA. Just had our first snow yesterday.
I just started painting a couple of weeks ago. Those pine trees are a real pain in the butt. You looked like you were in pain while painting them. I must say your trees came out quite nice. You give me hope! Haha 😁
Hi! I live in Virginia. After watching many Bob Ross videos and loving them, I decided to look for some videos with acrylic painting, and I found you. You are very instructional and I enjoy your Aussie accent and colloquialisms. I just watched the Misty mountain tutorial. I loved it. Your trees are beautiful! I have a question for you. Why won’t the knife work for painting mountains with acrylic paint? ❤
to me acrylic paints do not spread like oils, in acrylic i find it easier to just paint the mountain instead of knifing it, some people can get caught thinking well that's how they paint a mountain in oils then must do it the same way in acrylic, in my early days i tried knifing in a mountain the way oil artist did it but for a beginner it can be very difficult to mist the bottom.
Hi Ian, I have recently started to paint and came across your tutorials. I love your work and how you explain as you go. My question is, if I paint what you're painting and someone wants to buy it, can I sell it? Cheers Linda 😊
