Vin and Sori React and Analyze Gojira The Gift Of Guilt!!!
Gojira = instant thumbs up.
not for them though, they found most of their songs boring and repetitive as fuck ! Gojira are overrated, mate !
Global Warming as well, a lot of their songs use the same riff, and lot of their songs are the same riff put on repeat
And a thumbs up for you too HAILS
This is the best band in the planets history
Julio Espada you better be trolling
The Gift of Guilt is the guilt we inherit from our ancestors, we learn from their mistakes and become better people for it. In the same way that the sins of our past, things like wars, crusades, slavery, etc. has given us the wisdom to realize how bad these things are Gojira, being very conscious of current trends, is also pointing out that the environmental destruction we've cause is another atrocity that future generations will have to learn from.
I've thought about this a while because it's an interesting song, and I believe that Vin was almost there, and then your idea is quite interesting too (or course, all this depends on interpretation), but to me the key word is "gift", which means is given to us freely without us having to have done anything wrong. It would feel like you describe to me if they didn't talk about leaving it behind, getting rid of it, that serves no purpose, the idea of how we materialize lies into the almost palpable feel of guilt. I think is the imposed idea of being sinners just by being born, making us feel undeservedly guilty about things completely out of our control, and freeing ourselves from that idea.
Nobody ever checks explosia by gojira..!!! Honestly one of there best for me..!!!! Beastly
Several youtubers reacted to Explosia! You can find them by searching for it. Great song!
Amen brother.
That song is pure headbang material 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I do love the ending of that song, that baritone western sound.
Ever heard their album terra incognita? Or the link'
This song can be about anything actually...this song makes me teary as it brings back a lot of things I still hold myself accountable for even if no one else blames me for it...I still do
this song is a masterpiece, thanks for your in-depth review. can't wait to see more gojira!!
We’ve gone 3 before !
try this on for size !!!! and let us know what you got from this ;) ua-cam.com/video/tBX8lVJzXB4/v-deo.html
Another great Gojira reaction. I HIGHLY recommend their performance of Where Dragons Dwell Live at Hellfest 2013. You will be blown away by the quality and power.
HIGHLY AGREEEEEEE! BEST PERFORMANCE!!! Soo fucking sick man, mad hype.
indeed the sound and the vocals of said performance was amazing
Totally agree! This performance is beyond amazing. Hard to explain. You have to watch entire video. You won't be disappointed!
I agree, this is a fantastic song and the best live performance. So powerful.
Fuck yes. I usually HATE live recordings/videos but this one is awesome as hell.
"Stranded" got me into Gojira.... can't wait to hear more!
Same
Gojira - Of Blood and Salt feat Devin Townsend
And Meshuggah
Definitely this. When you get together Gojira, Devin Townsend, and Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah) absolute greatness is bound to ensue.
This 100%
I think Sori totally get it
Wtf, I can't stop watching your reactions. I've been watching your videos the whole day, basically.
Cheers from Brasil, guys.
Hail!
same here, even the Brazil part xd
Saw them live just this august for knotfest, they closed out their set with this song.
I will unashamedly admit that when the outro kicked in, tears were straight streaming down my face. The music just feels so powerful and passionate, and really resonates with me for some reason.
My favourite from them
@@Logos.1990 wowww you’ve brought me back to this comment, and 4 years later I’ve now seen Gojira 3 times. Wow time flies. My fav from them is the art of dying but the gift of guilt is a close second for me!
Great reactiom guys! I just regret that you didnt do the live version from Brixton Academy. It's muuuuuuuch better! Give it a listen sometime, even if it's off camera
Sori was really feeling it in this song. You can just see it
This band is just jaw droppingly good at hitting those feels
You should listen the live at brixton academy of this one. The game of light with the power of this music live is just epic. And the scream of Joe at the end "THE GIFT OF GUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILT" is just so beautiful and full of meaning. Sorry for my english im very bad x)
Dissection - thorns of crimson death
Dudes! Stop everything if you can, a hot discovery coming in right now! This is an experience of european iron age and viking era sounds in a stunning live performance! You might wanna get the cam rolling typing in either "Heilung | LIFA - Hamrer Hippyer LIVE" or "Heilung | LIFA - Alfadhirhaiti LIVE" into your youtube and get in the zone. This is exactly what I was talking about, when I mentioned the tribal history of sound! You've gotta listen to this! I can't stop doing it myself right now.
Merkur Schröder 😃👌
I can't like this comment enough Heilung are absolutely breathtacking
Cheers, mate! It's is such a great discovery and one of the rare occasions these days, that I really want everybody to know a band this instant. They just popped up in my youtube few hours ago and of all the shaman, viking, throat singing, tribal whatever music I've heard from around the globe, these guys stand out brilliantly, especially with the live performance. I have to see them on stage now!
I back this idea 1000%! Heilung is amazing!
Just think about the possibility Vin and Sori doing an interview with them! That would sure make an interesting talk! So exciting to imagine, as I want to know more about them myself.
Oh yeah Heilung are very unique. I've been waiting for a chance to see them live.
I'll echo what someone else already said. The live version from Brixton is incredible, as is Flying Whales, Heaviest Matter etc etc. That Brixton show is outstanding, both because of the performances themselves, and because the sound mixing is A+. A giant wall of sound that's so pleasing to the ear. Definitely you should check it out. Gojira are one of those rare bands that are even better live than on the record imo. I've seen them in person and they blow most bands away in a live setting. The scream on the word 'guilt' at the end of this song on the live version, is bone tingling. It makes you feel Joe's emotions while he sings it. This band gives me life. They do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. Great reaction as usual \m/
wintersun beautiful death!!! its so poetic and amazing
yea! anything by Wintersun would be great...
'Sons of Winter and Stars' (Live rehearsal @ Sonic Pump Studios), never not gonna push for this. One of those times where the live performance exceeds the studio product.
But yeah, a thumbs-up from me for a Wintersun reaction/review.
Saw these guys about two weeks ago, absolutely killed it!
My first contact with these guys was the live performance of this song in London, and it blew me away (the drums in particular). Just a very special song. Thanks for doing this one!
You're guys amazing! The best reactions in whole internet!
I would love for you guys to listen to a whole Gojira Album like From Mars to Sirius, just like you did with lateralus. The songs tie together very well.
Great video as always!
Agreed... Gojira is just amazing and that whole album is worth a listen.. I've never heard a bad gojira song... my fav band..
That would be SOOOO amazing!! Sounds like a 2hr video and i'm ALL for it hahaha
what about being repetitive and boring ?
what about it?
the bloke made a wrong statement and i corrected it
FINALLY!! Great reaction to my favorite song!
One of my favourite Gojira songs!
Love this channel, halford silent screams from his solo album resurrection, rock on \m/
Love the conversation. You are not the only one Sori. Gojira really feel the music they play!
Great reaction. Love this song. Dig into more Gojira. They are different, in a very good way.
Congratulations on 20k subs
This is such a great song. The whole album is astounding. I loved the discussion on guilt and what it does to a person. Guilt is a great motivator for change and in a lot of ways it can be the most powerful emotion of all.
Honestly, I don't understand how people can be irritated that you come from a background where you didn't really get exposed to music growing up, Sori. One of my favorite things is introducing people to new music that they fall in love with. It's a fun challenge trying to read people and figure out what they'll like the most. There are SO many bands I'd love for you to listen to. Seriously, I could probably take up an entire week of throwing bands your way. One of my favorite things about this channel is watching you react because you really FEEL the music. It's the same way I approach listening to music. Don't let the negative nancys get you down. Keep that exuberance and openness to new music!
Much love as always!
-Jason
What a great song and great reaction! Well done and much
So heavy and intricate. Each song has so many elements that stay with you. Demands repeated listening. Melodic and powerful, also deeply focused.
Gojira - Vacuity my fav...
Vacuity!!!
so badass
This is my favourite track from L’Enfant Sauvage. That melody, that chorus. It’s sublime. I got to see them live while they were touring off this album and this song was the closer. Perfect way to end the show. The times I’ve seen them after that show the set list hasn’t featured much from this album (I think I got the title track but that’s all I can recall) which is a bit disappointing. I think L’Enfant as an album is a bit underrated considering how highly regarded From Mars and The Way Of All Flesh are.
You guys have a healthy relationship. The way you two are able to communicate🙌 much love from Holland❤ love your content
I remember requesting this one back on I think, Flying Whales. And man. This song... Idc what its about. But it seems to portray the feeling of guilt. Like the music alone. Just the sound. The repeating alt tapping in the back, the feeling that repeats and repeats. Then the heavier chorus, where its those times that the guilt that feeling, just overwhelms you, and forces you into a ball on the floor. Also serving as your anger towards the feeling. And at the end of those song, that break, is you ending that... Every time i hear this song i get chills that have nothing to do with being cold.
Loved the reaction guys! Vin seemed to feel it the same way i do. Just the epicness in the music itself. I cant help but follow the alt tapping with my fingers or aor drumming hahaha.
This entire album is fucking world class to me. The best music i can think of.
L'Enfant Sauvage. The title track. Is just purely awesome! Thats my vote for a next Gojira song!!!
Love the channel. Favorite song by them. Also, please can you listen to Soilwork the momentary bliss! Forgot to add, congratulations to the 20k subscribers.
Another great reaction. Matt the drummer is insane. Every song is just flawless not matter if it’s a fast song or a slow one like Born in Winter.
Always look forward to seeing new vids from you guys. I don’t get to them right away due to running a growing Security Company, spending time with my wife, running around with my almost 4 year old Twins, and taking care of a growing 3 month old, but when I do I always enjoy. Have a good one
Bad Wolves all I am saying will not disappoint guaranteed
Gojira - The Art Of Dying
Gojira, OPETH , & Batushka are my favorite bands of all time & now y'all cover and talk about them more. May God bless you both and always have a successful UA-cam channel. You have my support!
Amazing song
Love your reaction
👍
Do Stranded by Gojira you guys will love it.
My interpretation of the lyrics was pretty much identical to Sori's, but Vin's perspective is really interesting to me. In the end, I think both views make sense and I'm glad that such drastically different interpretations can be drawn from the same lyrics.
"L'enfant Sauvage" means "the wild child", with "wild" as in feral, rather than unruly.
Now listen to the live version from The Brixton Academy in London. It's amazing!
Cannot agree more
I've been listening to metal for a long time now, and Gojira is my fave band, since hearing them back in the early 2000s. Each of their albums has been great, but seem to stand out from each other. True to their sound.. yet somehow unique. It's rare these days for a band to put out great album after great album. I got to finally see them live a few years ago, and it was absolutely amazing. They weren't the headliner though. I'd love to go catch them in Europe where they're a lot bigger.. that's a bit of a pipe dream though. Anyways, I scour UA-cam for reaction videos for Gojira.. each video is almost like getting a chance to listen to them again for the first time. Thanks for that!!
I get so excited every time you guys post a video
Mateo Jackson same I wait for them actually lol
I love how Gojira create atmospheres in their songs, not just add cool riffs one after the other...they build the song as a hole, but make it with very different parts perfectly blended...
Interview Joe Duplantier!! (by the way, they live in New York now...)
I've watched a couple of your videos and they're pretty good. Please do more gojira reaction videos, I'd definitely subscribe for that!!
L'enfant means the child
And sauvage means feral or savage (depending what they meant.. )Edit: wild is a better translation
And l' is le but we take the e off when the name comming after it starts with a vowel it's like the n after the a in english when you got a vowel after it to make the pronounciation more fluid
It’s not Elephant Sausage? Dammit...
It's stands for the wild child Mario said this in an interview
Ryan Bailey thanks for correcting me
This is the first time im hearing this song. I cried, it's so beautiful
Sounds just amazing live. Your headbanging is excellent.
Wow I love the debate between u two on this one
Haven't heard this particular Gojira track, but I'm definitely diggin' it. DAMN solid stuff.
YESSSS THIS IS A JAM
If you enjoy the eccentricity of Gojira and want to expand your horizons when it comes to music that is very heavily influenced by their foreign elements and different cultures you have to try Sigur Rós (from Iceland), namely their song "Hoppípolla". The emotion they bring out is unlike anything else you'll have ever felt.
They sure are something else! Love em!
Great lyrical interpretation. Love how you guys always do great jobs extrapolating the meaning of songs.
Thank you !!
"Building connective tissue to a maze of lies". Neurological connectivity being created by our nature of building our self image. Constant justification of our point of view which accommodates self image.
Gojira - Love
Man I love Gojira.. They are definitely setting the Bar now..🤘
One of my favorite songs of all time.
Nice job. J'adore Gojira. Bravo pour votre réaction.
Ya'll gotta see them live. Serious almost life changing experience!
La Dispute - King Park, I've already mentioned it but I'll keep trying because it's underground enough that I'll probably be the only person asking for it :D Loving all your work all the way from Bulgaria
Love how you rocking
Reign of darkness- Thy art is murder (music video)
Land of snow and sorrow- Wintersun
Carbon phrases- Alkaloid
Crushed- Parkway Drive
I'm gonna spam this on every video
Glad that someone listens to Alkaloid. Very underrated band...
There is just something about this band that draws me in!
Top 3 Gojira song for me. So powerfully delivered.
L'enfant Sauvage means literally "The Wild Child" and refers to a 1970 French movie of the same name. It depicts a child who is raised alone in the forest and his struggles to adapt to human culture, language and interactions. Gojira's title-track from the album is directly related to that story, oh, btw, the movie is actually based on a real story, from a real child who lived in the forest for about 12 years. You guys check this movie out, it's pretty deep.
Dude is very insightful. He hit it spot on. We build our self image through judgement and guilt becomes the trap that binds us from our full human potential.
Between The Buried And Me are kinda similar to Gojira, but older. BTBAM with Opeth and Gojira are kings of prog death metal. So...
Do it! Songs - White Walls; Ants of the Sky
You guys are great. Listen to Gojira's deliverence or love they are heavy :). Rock it on.
As everyone else has mentioned, Where Dragons Dwell LIVE at HELLFEST 2013. It must be this version, however, and I hope you will see to it soon. Also "Clone" should be done also.
"Gojira - Stranded" next please! :)
Gojira - The Fall.
It's not one of their top songs but I'd loveee to see you guys react to it. There's an insanely interesting part in the middle with some of the craziest lyrics in any Gojira song, I'd love to see your analysis of them! Loved this one by the way 👌
It might be possible to become perfect. I think I knew someone who was. It's hard to say with certainty though.
Vin you seem like a fairly well read man. Carcass aren't for everyone, but since you like books and stuff I'll recommend them.
Carcass - A Congealed Clot Of Blood
Giving up on Green Carnation?
HELLYEAH!!!! This song is so sick. 2 of my request in that past like 3 or 4 vids. Thanks Ya'll
love them and love this song!!!!!!!!
23:40 yh thats shame or humility and is essentially another gift as Vin see's it and it works similarly and has good productive ways of being explained and countered and bad self corupting ways of being taken
amazing song!! I thought it was going to be the live version, which is even more epic, but greatness non the less!
I know it's been requested a lot, but check out some Amon Amarth I recommend "Thousand Years of Oppression", ''Cry of the Black Birds", "Twilight of the Thundergod" or "The Pursuit of Vikings". All pretty good songs.
David Asthar
No Under the Northern Star? 🤔😉
So glad you did this song finally, I've been recommending it from day one!
You guys should check out Tremonti!
Gojira - All the tears & Art Of Dying.
Powerful lyrics, I always cry.
My favorite metal band. You guys need to check out some of their live stuff. It really shows their talent.
You guys are wonderful! Highly suggest The Dali Thundering Concept- The Myth of Happiness
I love your channel guys! First time commenting on any channel. You two definitely have Gojira covered so i won't request them but i do have plenty others. Job for a cowboy: Ruination, Cephalic Carnage: Touched by an angel, Nothingface: Here come the butchers, The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza: The alpha the omega, The Dillinger Escape Plan: Phone home, The Acacia Strain: Whaleshark, Rings of Saturn: Godless times, Suicide Silence: Disengage, Code Orange: The mud, Vildhjarta: Dagger, Iwrestledabearonce: Boat paddle, After the Burial: Lost in the static and The Faceless: Autotheist Movement 1 and 2. I believe the Faceless songs will start an interesting conversation. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the Gojira love guys. 😉 If you react to another one, listen to Clone or Love, they are from the first album and the studio recordings are raw af. ✊
Take care Vin and Sori! :)
Love Gojira and this channel. One of the best reaction channels on UA-cam. Enjoy the lyrical analysis and interviews with the artists themselves. Pls react to Dream Theater - Learning to live/ the best of times (positive prog metal). Thanks guys!
Timely and accurate guilt is a great force for learning. You can dissect an action where you let yourself or someone else down, and figure out why. You can figure out how to do better next time. Guilt can allow us to try and make amends if that's possible. If you've done all that can be done, understood what can be understood, but you're still guilty, that's when it becomes a problem.
Gotta love some Gojira. Great video guys. Keep em coming. React to some Miss May I- Relentless Chaos
Come on guys, Leprous - Slave (live at rockafella music Hall)
One of most underrated prog metal bands. In the same circle as Opeth and Devin Townsend but totally unique.
I think the vital core is the heart that is gone after so much pain has destroyed it, and then the starving orphans like when you are left alone in life, and your starving for someone to fill the void
Also another Suggestion I'd have would be Architects - Downfall, These Colours Don't Run, Broken Cross + The Devil is Near, Colony Collapse, Gravity or Gone With The Wind. Love these Guys so freakin much, hope to see ur reaction to one or two songs :D
Flying Whales - Gojira
Johnny Cash - Wage War
Doomsday - Architects
And the Snakes Start to Sing - Bring Me The Horizon
Ruined Ends - Wovenwar
The King Welcomes You to Avatar Country - Avatar
May have already done a few of these, don't know as I started watching a few days ago. Just love seeing people hear metal tracks for the first time and love seeing yall jam during the tracks.
You should definetely check out the Live Version at Brixton Academy just for fun. The Sound is so Massive and his Vocals are absolutely stunning especially the Last Scream, but nonetheless awesome reaction guys
I really dig Sori's take on this one. Dying planets seem like a very Gojira storyline
oh GOD, that song kicked so much ass!..thanks to you guys for sharing...never heard it til now
One of my favorite songs by them!
A sight to behold. For a different sound from Gojira
L'Enfant Sauvage means the wild child
Vin is totally right with his interpretation. And guilt is indeed a guift because we need such emotional "nerves" to go through life. Also I had never thought of that line "We're left as starving orphans" as Vin interprets it. Parents make the world make sense for kids. The absence of trust in parents can be very damaging for that reason, I think
For the underground show. Either In De Naam Van De Duivel or The Possession Process by Carach Angren. They're a symphonic black metal band that writes their albums as horror stories. These two work as stand alone songs though. Think you guys will love em.
In De Naam Van De Duivel's lyrics are english and it's dutch for in the name of the devil, but I don't think it's satanic enough to be on the blackfire show.
And Babel's Gate by Septic Flesh. Symphonic Death metal and you'd get a kick out of the lyrics.
Also you guys need to do the whole of Damnation And A Day by Cradle Of Filth. Best Cradle album in my opinion and the album tells the story of Satan before his fall all the way to his defeat. Seeing how you guys dissect this stuff is amazing.
