Gojira is well known for their "Mantras". Some people find it really annoying that they sometimes just "sit" on a riff or phrase, sometimes with minor modulations and sometimes not, but they really are often themselves working into a trance during performance. These songs are not the majority of their work, but every album has a few or more that somtimes get extended to ridiculous degrees during live performances. This is why on album they have so many fade outs in their songs. Sometimes they just like to add a bar, or maybe minutes of grooving that same riff when live. The most extreme example of this is the "Where Dragons Dwell" LIVE at Hellfest, that extension at the end is ridiculous. For more songs to check out, do also consider the "Global Warming" STUDIO LIVE set. Because that's vocally absolutely raw. It also exemplifies the extreme end of their "mantra" songs, where they just chill on a riff for most of the song, with very subtle variations. It's quite extreme example of it, but it is a recurring thing for them.
I would add Blow me away you (niverse) from the link alive to those extreme examples. That is one truly hypnotic time. Also this was back in the days when Mario owned a shirt. When he was only 22 :) ua-cam.com/video/WYIuT-jBF6w/v-deo.html (sadly only 240p)
Thank you, now you know why we said that Orbit culture is ''if Gojira and Metallica had a child'' :)))''Where dragons dwell'' LIVE AT HELLFEST 2013 - CRAZY
Glad you enjoyed this performance, yeah Gojira's live shows are definitely a spiritual, hypnotic experience. Speaking of Mario, it would be great if you could listen to some of his solo compositions to see how phenomenal he is and how much emotion and energy he does put into his drumming. For future reactions I recommend these: Global Warming (live at Silver Cord Studio NYC) Toxic Garbage Island (live at Hellfest 2016) Silvera (live at Red Rocks) ... and other songs ofc. Cheers 🤘
This was the video that made me an instant fan. The bring the heavy, the pretty, and the philosophical all in one cut, ending with an absolutely hypnotic outro... Truly Epic.
I have seen Gojira live four times, they are the best live band I've personally ever seen. My absolute favorite band along with Meshuggah and Cannibal Corpse.
I like that y’all don’t stop the songs and can just add your comments in while it’s playing. Glad y’all enjoyed this song. If y’all EVER get to see them live… GO! Seriously the best performance 🎭 have ever seen and I have seen them many of times.
Y’all should listen to Clone by Gojira next as it’s an absolute MONSTER of a song. Would definitely go with the studio version to get the full effect (they slow the live version down in some parts)
I was there a day or two before this at the Manchester academy. Literally not missed a gojira gig here the last 5 or 6 times they have been in the UK. And they are the last band I saw live in July 2019 for my birthday. They just get better and better Should check out heaviest matter of the universe from this gig..or when Joe has short hair maybe about 2017 I think, their light set up was friggin ace. 🤘
You really should go to see them live if they ever pass near your location. I saw them back in 2006 (Hellfest) and 2007 and it was really cool. Definitely a live band. If you've liked these drops, for something heavy : Frontierer - The Molten Larva. Unmatched guitar tone.
this concert is great , you can listen to backbone form the same live . Or "the heaviest matter of the universe "one of their biggest hit from the same concert ,but it might be not available ,depends of the country ,otherwise when it comes to "the heaviest matter of the universe " usually people listen to the live at vieilles charrues , wich is great but the sound recording is compressed, so i recommend listenening to the studio version , the live at brixton ,the live at hellfest 2013 , the live at eurockennes 2009 or even the live in poland 2019 for a better sound
Love your channel! Liking and subscribing. I've seen Gojira 6 times now, hands down (in my opinion) on of the best live bands walking the Earth today. One of the best bands walking the Earth today for that matter. If you haven't already, you need to go see them. Captain obvious signing off here. Cheers guys.
Any chance we could get that Vintersea, Crack of Light reaction? I feel that you will enjoy it. I know it didn't get a good vote count on the last poll, but it really is worth the watch
All of Gojiras live performances are incredible, HOWEVER you will get suggestions to watch certain performances from the Vieilles Charrues festival, I DO NOT recommend you watch those as the recording quality is quite poor. You'll be better off listening to the studio versions of songs like The art of dying and Toxic garbage island.
This is the oldest song of theirs that you’ve checked out so far.(Their 5th album) The further back you go, the heavier it gets. I suggest something from their album The Way of All Flesh (4th album) or something from The Link (their 2nd album) those two are the most raw and in your face IMO. Keep doing Gojira!!
No. That song live never works. The sound is bad in every live recording. It's hectic enough song that they NEED to hear the studio version to appreciate it.
@@nomindseye "That song live never works" ...sorry what ? the vieilles charues version ..the recording is highly compressed ok ..but otherwise that song is crushing live ..the live at brixton , at hellfest 2013 , eurockennes 2009 or even in poland at ..are a good example
I found bfmv live at Brixton one of my fav concerts it’s when they were young the song poison is a head banger and speaking of head bangers Epica Quietus live wacken
We put out 2 a day but we only record twice a week at the moment. The editing process takes a while but we’re enjoying it more and more every time we do it. 😀
They really have their own sound and style. You need to let yourself to sink deeper into this rabbit hole called Gojira
So true. Someone asked me not to long ago what genre of music Gojira is, all I could think of was they're "Gojira". That is the genre.

Late to this party but welcome to the majesty of Mario Duplantier. The dude is the current greatest drummer on the planet...
Congratulations! Finally you made it to one of the most awesome live performances ever. ;-)

They are great! Legendary song!
And this is why Gojira is special.
If you want to see another hypnotic song : "The way of all flesh live at Garorock 2009"
You will love this one !
Gojira are beasts !
I had a chance to see them live. At that moment, trust me, you don't want this song to end.
No matter how many times I watch this, I get chills during the heavy drops. Super Mario is killing it as usual. Animal lives.
Where dragons dwell....
Or an older one called remembrance. It's sick.
Gojira has a LOT of beautiful music. And heavy as fuck. Often combined. They play with passion and intensity.. and they’re lyrically brilliant.
Their show at Red Rocks (or anywhere) is spectacular.

yo, you guys have to react to the 20min shortfilm "Till Lindemann - Ich hasse Kinder". Its like a horror movie, Mat would love it :D
They have a drum solo at this same show that's really insane

Completely agree. Art of Dying in particular is much better as a studio song.. mostly because it seems hard for Joe to recapture the vocals live.
Check Remembrance form the link alive by Gojira!
This is my song!!!.....great!

React to The Axe from the same show and Esoteric Surgery
