- A vid showing you how I would set up a tank for a Burgundy Goliath Birdeater - Theraphosa stirmi.
Misting is also a big factor in helping keep that humidity high.
Great video man.
Great video
That is a awesome set up bro.. love the hide idea 💡 I'm deffo gonna use that.. thank you
You cooking your spider? XD
thedarkness97 I was thinking the same thing when I saw the stove lol I was like wtf
gas cooker instead of heat mat? seems a bit harsh ;-)
Be cause it was a nice open space to work in!
Hey,
Yeah I will. I think the goliath will be able to stand up and touch the mesh if he wanted, so shouldn't be much danger of a big fall. That's the benifit of these new Exo Terra Lows. :)
Man! damn good set up you get
a full 10/10 you on fb?
may need tips on diff species
I'm getting a Goliath bird eater this week and I've had many invertebrates before but nothing that requires this much attention! If you could please tell me how I can keep the humid up and what kind of soil and moss I should use thanks!
Hsbdhdhhxh zhzbbxbxbxhx use Eco earth and a lot of moss. I used cypress mulch and a bit of coco fiber and mine became dehydrated. It's a common problem with Goliath's. The right substrate and like 5 squirts of mist a day should keep her hydrated. Also use a water dish big enough for her. But don't make it deeperthan an inch if she is an adult. Hope this helped
yes! I think theres a 30x30 low aswell
Thanks for sharing this video...I found it very helpful as I'm a beginner.
How did you fix the background to the glass ?
What is the name of those little creatures who clean up mould etc ?
UKPurplePanther the background just slots in place. and they are tropical woodlice. or you can have springtails aswell
they like it warm :)
Maybe this is a stupid question. Could you put some cockroaches in there so they start nesting and then you would have a sought of natural feeding system (I am not trying to be lazy I just think it would be cool if you had a large vivarium)
ever use woodlice for fungal grow?
yes. Didn't do much really
good terrarium..
where did you buy the enclosure??
Is this okay for tarantula? They say steel mesh screen can be broken by tarantula's fangs so your tarantula can escape or injured their self.
No way a tarantula could bite through steel screen, nor would they try
Hunter Burchett newbie. I have tarantulas. Tarantulas can cut through steel screen using their fangs, I'd seen in videos and friends.
Give me the search words, prove it A human could not bite through steel screen and a human on average is 150 pounds per square inch of pressure, I'm more than positive a T could not exceed 5lbs of pressure of that I understand they have sharp fangs but I've also seen T's break fangs on leather gloves so I think " newbie " might be a bit harsh, but in any event the strongest material I can find these things biting through is a human toe nail, on the hardness scale that's about a 2, steel is about a 7 stop calling me a newbie and please be respectful
Gold Piece dude I would love to see a t bite through steel I think you're mate pulling your leg lol
like'd the video. but u didn't say anything about the temperature. what do u use? probably a heat mat, and place it on the side of the tank? cuz i heard that it's not very good to place it underneath the tank. if it gets too warm for the tarantula, they like to burrow. and if i'd buy a juvenile blondi/stirmi, is it ok to house him in this kind of big tank? so i wouldn't have to get another once it gets too big for the small tank?
I use a heater that heats the room, as I have 30 tarantulas. Heat mats are not practical.
The reason small slings are kept in smaller enclosures is so that you can find them! In a sense, yes, you could put a tiny spider in this enclosure, but you will have a hard time finding it!
For a setup like this, heat mats arent practical. But they are recommended for smaller enclosures.
What's the science name of the Goliath turantula
mold city in about a week.
not really. the exo terras are known for superb air flow.
I'm having trouble keeping the humidity in my enclosure. I'm using the same substrate just not in the brick form. How damp/moist should the dirt be and should it be really packed together like it is in the video? I'm kind of new to owning a tropical species.
if you struggle with humidity then try cover some vents. not all of them tho. you still need air ventilation...
and regular misting is needed to keep humidity up
don't like the setup not looking like the real habitat at all
This is a setup that is basic. Your opinion however, does not matter if you don't like it. Keep it to yourself.
Um who are you? paleo he can do what ever he wants what u gonna do about it? :)
Why's it on a cooker?
all u have to do for mold is add sring tails they eat mold
Why are you keeping your enclosure on the stove top?
really?...
What do you keep your humidity at for the T Stirmi?
Step number 1. Preheat your stove top to medium high heat.
Theraphosa stirmi
Did he say woodlice?
threestaronesun yep, isopods
The lid Mesh is Dangerous for spiders
Can be
Wicked
Would This Work For A Massive Female T.stirmi And A Big LP? Cheers
-Chainsaw Reptiles ~Tom P.s I Use Fish Food For The Dwarf Woodlice :D
yeah. both species would be fine in a set up like this. obviously not together lol
Suicidalsock Yeah Yeah Ofc Not Together Haha Just Lower The Humidity For The LP?
Yeah. They like it humid. So not too much. But can be lower.
Suicidalsock Thanks For All The Help Man! And Would You be INstrested In A T.ockerti? chainsawreptiles@gmail.com If You Are Instrested Bro :D
U in my Facebook group?
how to cook tarantula
I use the same tank for my leopard gecko
Same
Your accent is hard for me to understand, did you say medium low or long?
what do you use as a heat source?
A fan heater which heats the whole room. Set around 20 degrees Celsius
Cool so you keep them at constant 20c
Yeah. Seems to work fine. Most Ts are happy at room temperature. The heater is really a safe guard should the temperature fall low.
Indeed.. why you ask? :)
uld the spider be able to live in this size viv the whole its life?
I'd say so yes :)
erm not sure lol. High :)
Sponge in water dish bad
Yeah. And?
@@SuiSock sponges can build up bacteria and that can well kill your tarantula
