We bought an 05 v6 auto for my daughter’s first car. It’s pretty worn in and we got it with 160 k on it. Thing has been awesomely reliable. I love the thing. I’ll be bummed when she gets her license and I won’t be driving it hahaha
Great video. I bought a 2007 4.0 convertible. I love it, it’s perfect for cruising especially with the top down. Its definitely not fast and I did not expect it to be. Once you accept that, you’re good. I’m def gonna do some tasteful cosmetic mods and get it tuned with the Bama tuner in the future just to wake it up a little.
Good video. All truths. If younger peeps want a cheaper mustang to supercharge or add a turbo kit, get the 3.7 Mustang. The Cyclone engine starts at 305hp and is strong as shit…. I am at 480-490ish with my 2017… Procharger equipped. ❤
I'm sure it's been said but the trans issue is with the over drive band servos. They're precision machined steel rubbing on aluminum... They eat it up over time, there are after market servo replacements with a sleeve to stop them from wearing themselves to nothing. $200 plus labor is much better than >2,000 for a "new" tranny. As far as "what causes it" or what's gonna make it more noticeable: cold weather, hard shifting (heavy acc) before it's warmed up, old fluid and filter. I have noticed that mine is worse going down hill, especially if it's trying to down shift from 2nd.
I love the content your gt and 4.0 are great content. So far my nitrous 4.0 is good and no problems so far. I am looking at buying some exterior mods and performance cams before the end of the year and next summer I am going to buy a Vortech V3 Supercharger.
I bought a 2005 v6 mustang lime green edition with only 58k miles I really wanted a v8 but I settled with the v6 because of the price and I honestly love my mustang and always get compliments on my mustang for what it is
You should be able to get a new gauge cluster for $60-$150. I got an 07 reproduction mycolor for $69 ~3 years ago. It cost me more to get the mileage set to match the motor; which is not necessary. My 06 also has low mileage ~57K lol. Still a garage queen despite my Deep Impact 2013 5.0. I DD the 5.0 and using the garage it too much of a pita. The 4.0 Manual is a T5. It's modeled after the original borg warner but not quite as strong. They can be broken with stock 4.0 power. So can the 7.5" open diff. My Turbo 4.0 is an exception to the rule. 431HP / 507TQ - Turbocharged in 2007 and still alive today, though it's going to get Holley Eliminated soon since stock spark and fuel suck.
I’ll certainly look into the gauge replacement. Thought it would be more costly than a couple hundred bucks. I appreciate the info on the transmission. Completely spaced the T5. Was under the impression they were a bit more durable compared the dreadful 5r55.

That's Stang looks amazing 🔥 The front reminds me like a barracuda hehe I have an issue with mine...for some reason, it isn't charging good. I get a reading if 13.45v and wondering what it is. I checked the alternator, all negative wires but one. My fuses are good but going to check the fuse box by the passenger side. I did see some discoloration in that area that I hope that I can clean it good
Thanks man! That’s weird that it isn’t charging. My first thought was the alternator but if you checked that, then I’m not too sure. Maybe try a new battery?
Personally im mechanically inclined and i like the 4.0 engine even if its not powerful. Im getting another car so I can mess with my 4.0, I hope it can be a sleeper
@@SVTEvan I appreciate it! I won’t brag about “what I’m gonna go” but I’ll say that there’s some cool stuff to get into online, even a 4.3 stroker kit. Gonna start cheap and work my way up.
The s197 is by far my favorite mustang model and i have been thinking about getting a V6 honestly just so i can have a more reliable car to daily because i love my 88 corvette but it just continues to have problems and its really getting annoying so im thinking of selling it and trying to get a v6 stang because the gt is to expensive for me haha
I agree, the S197 is peak in terms of body styling! Honestly people dog on the v6 for no reason. As a 2014 5.0, and 2003 cobra owner, I love my V6 and wouldn’t sell it unless I absolutely had too. They’re great cars especially for a reliable daily!
Hell yeah man i love your collection very nice trio of cars i love the way your V6 looks though that hoot and bumper are just beautiful and thats one of the main reasons i want one just because they look amazing and they have such a huge market for cosmetics
Selling my 4.0 to make room for a truck since I was able to score a gt last summer. She was a awesome car to own, had lots of fun with it but I think I'm ready to move on.
I drive a 2018 Sentra sv and I don’t plan on modding a mustang when I get one (preferably 05-09) i just want a better driving experience. I grew up loving the mustang and I just want one I could care less about modding lol
Nothing wrong with a stock mustang. You’ll love it coming from a Sentra. But trust me, you’ll eventually want to do some small mods. Exhaust would be #1 choice
Truth about the 4.0 from a 3.7 and 4.0 owner. (I had a 3.7 2014, wrecked it, now I got a 4.0 2010) It has a sealed transmission which sucks if you got a leak or any issues. Also it has 100 less hp than that of one that is barely more expensive. I would save for a 3.7 if I could do it again
If you can get one for a great deal, absolutely. They’re not necessarily great on gas mileage (I get 15mpg city) while driving very responsibly. But they’re plenty fun and a great starting point for enthusiasts
These 4.0 can last a very long time. Beware of the timing cassette guides and the thermostat housing. Other than that, with regular mileage you can expect hundreds of thousands of miles. I’ve seen plenty well into the 200k+ range.
Unfortunately this is the truth in todays car scene. They’re not the fastest, coolest, or truly anything “special” so they get a bad rep from non-enthusiast. I think they’re good cars with realistic expectations.

They’re super reliable! Glad you’re getting to enjoy it for a while
Thanks for all the info on your 4.0 build! Just bought an 05 for a great price and your vids provide some great perspective.
Glad it’s helpful 🫶

4.0 are really good track cars and fun canyon runs pretty quick around curvy roads after track pack install and boost.
When switching from the 5.0 to the 4.0, it made me appreciate how nimble the 4.0 is. Feels very light for its size

100000% agree. 3.7 is beast!

You’ve never had a water leak in the passenger side? I love your car btw I have a 2006 mustang and plan on doing so much more to it
Never had that issue. I make sure the cowl drain doesn’t get clogged. I appreciate the kind words man! What plans do you have for your car?

I’m in a similar boat th we’re I’ve pondered the idea of letting the 4.0 go but it’s so difficult 😭
It might be the shift solenoid. Had that same issue with mine and it fixed it.
How much was it to fix? May look into doing that sooner rather than later.
@@SVTEvan A little under $500 for the parts and labor.

do you know if i could program the key so the top goes down when i turn it on or if there is a remote i could get for a 2007 v6?
I honestly have no idea since I don’t own a convertible.
Can we get an update video
Yes, I will be filming an update video shortly on this car.
