Same here, I have one with a 129k miles and the only thing it's needed is a power steering pump, brakes and oil. The GT premium coup has a a lot of those "Non-american" features i.e. Luxury features. But if you want an american Luxury car, go with Lincoln (I guess Cadillac but I wouldn't buy one of those anymore). Th emustang is a sport's car, not a luxury car.

The motor that’s in your mustang is a 4.6 modular v8, not a triton. Triton came in the Ford F-150, F-250 and explorer and other Ford manufactured suv/trucks in the late 90s and early 2000s.

yep, so Mustang's are some of the most reliable cars out there *IF* they're taken care of. the problem is, many people just beat the hell out of these cars. I've seen tons of used Mustangs with blown up engines, worn out transmissions (really bad if it's the MT82), etc. You can always tell because so many people don't know how to bolt up the transmission to the Engine block, they'll do dumb shit like leave the top of the bell housing hanging off the block, crossthread the bolts, etc. Long story short, if you get a used Mustang, get it from a reputable Dealer and make sure it doesn't have serious issues, then they are pretty reliable cars.

I appreciate the young man's comments, however, none of the things that he is stating are common problems are all that common. The only issue that I know to be common is the door panel. Mine was the same, I bought a spray can of contact cement taped it of and spray both the panel and the fabric. It took about a half hour and is good as new now. One thing I agree with him about is the sound of the exhaust on a 3 valve is second to none from the factory. Sure you can upgrade anything to get pretty remarkable exhaust notes but from the factory I like the 4.6.

great video for the younguns who want to have an affordable modern day muslecar. A cpl things to note. Yes Ford went cheap on attachments for things but theyre fine until a car has been apart a time or 2. All manufactures are like that to varying degrees. Those things are all about how to slam the car together faster on the assembly line, and cheaper. Not too mention 130k is getting up there in use overall. The other thing is mustangs are not just straightline cars! Challengers are tho. Been a mopar fan all my life but bought a 10 gt 5sp and it corners amazing! you just got to have the right wheels/tires.

Most of those are normal maintenance. Spark plugs and coils are 100k or a little more. It's addicting to modify too. On the handling get some upgraded sway bars not too difficult to install. Also performance shocks and strut's make a difference. I have an 06 mustang GT blue and I have done everything except cams. I have done all the suspension what a difference.

Just wondering why most 3valve videos are 05 to 09. The 2010 gt is the same motor except with 15 more hp. Are they jealous 🤔. BTW the 05 to 09 only has 300 hp not 310. It's probably the most unique mustang in the past 15+ years. Some call it the redhead stepchild. Maybe because there's parts that only the 2010 are made for, and vice versa.. I wanted a Borla Attack exhaust. It's only available in catback version for the 2010. Where the 05 to 09 has axle back. It's the crossover between the 4.6 and 5.0. But just not motor some in body styling.

I'm saying the same .. everybody do not buy these cars. They suck!! Lolol(I just want them all for myself) I personally love mine. I have had to do some things. The heater hose went on mine as well but the dealership was going to rip you off. It's a $300 repair. My guy charged me $280 and it took about 2-3 hours. I had all of the parts though, the heater hose and all manifold gaskets... A $1000 though is absurd. I will say speed wise they are underrated. I've actually beat some cars that I should not have. I have an 07 auto gt and if you know how to drive the autos and how to control the pedal you can fly off the line. I've surprised many people. I've had the transmission rebuilt with the upgraded kit and that honestly has helped the most. I love when someone pulls up thinking they have me because of what they read on here and I just rip em. Feels like I hit 40 in 2 seconds, no shit. The other day it was a newer probably 2019 ford f150.. with the 5.0 coyote and I just smashed him. He was shocked and had to pull me over. All I have is a rough tuneless intake and borla exhaust, no tune, and the transmission rebuild as I said may have done the most for me. Anyway. I agree, everybody just stay away from these cars and save them for me

Bought a 2007 GT (auto) back in October of 2019. Had 4.6 thousand miles on the odometer (go figure on a 4.6L engine)
Needed a new fuel pump and battery since the car sat in a garage for pretty much it’s entire life (hence the low mileage)
After that the car ran perfectly, also forgot to mention, it was bone-stock. But anyways the car ran fine until about June. In which I started having an issue with starting the car. It would crank fine it’s just it would have a hard time actually starting. It acts like some fucking 1000hp car running e85 in the winter. It’ll sound like it catches for a few cranks then drop for a few cranks then catch again then start. Overall the process takes no more than 10 seconds. The car doesn’t feel like it’s losing any power when I’m pushing it. The only issue is starting it and then it works fine. Also I should state that there isn’t a CEL on. If there was I doubt I’d be here.
Oh, I also should mention that whenever the car starts, it’ll run fine for like 1 or 2 seconds then the RPM will drop to around 600. Almost as if the engine was going to stall. But then immediately rise back to its cold idle. (This only happens on a cold start)
But of course the whole starting process should take less than 3 seconds rather than 10 as I said earlier. The car used to start damn near instantly and would roar to life. Now it just kinda sluggishly comes to life half of the time, other times it roars.
I’ve replaced fuel filter, air filter, cleaned my MAF sensor, and just replaced spark plugs tonight. The first start was the same weak start I’ve been dealing with for what will almost be a year come summer. Combining those with the new battery and fuel pump, I’m running out of things I think it could be.
What I’m thinking are a few things
    1. Maybe my fuel pump was some off brand junk pump that my mechanic just ordered (since I didn’t start buying from AM until about December of 2019.) But if that is the issue, why would problems of started months after having the car? So it’s doubtful that’s it.
    2. Dirty/Clogged fuel injectors. I tried running some injector cleaner to see if that would fix it. But no signs of change tbh. Maybe they’re clogged beyond fixing and just need replaced?
    3. I asked some friends and one said a crankshaft sensor? Don’t know if this is true I just thought I’d throw it out there for someone else to possibly confirm or deny.
    4. The air filter was extremely dirty, and could’ve harmed the MAF sensor since I did drive on it for a while. But I did clean the sensor and no code was popped.
Of course a factor I haven’t mentioned is compression. But I find it hard that a cars compression would just suddenly go bad. And I doubt compression would only lead to a difficult startup.
The car literally runs perfectly fine after it’s started. The only issue is starting the car itself. I just want my old car’s roar back.

    • @carsofdavis
      @carsofdavis  3 роки тому

It sounds like a fuel thing imo...if you have spark, and nothing is blocking airflow, or possibly some kind of vacuum thing. But something fuel related is my best guess, there’s probably someone here that can diagnose better than that tho.
