@@carstenpfundt Only until you adjust for inflation and cost of living. 100k/yr sounds impressive until you consider it's equivalent to 50k elsewhere. Multiply that by a few million people, and ya get a very impressive but misleading number.
William, you've kept the format from 10+ years ago alive. No silly sound effects, no cringe... Just a dude having fun and sharing it online. Please never change man, and keep living your best life.
Here's what I think you should grow: nursery citrus trees. Grow on a small parcel of land, at high density, then sell to local lemon farmers for their orchards. You could specialize in cultivars that aren't widely available and grow specialty rootstocks. There would be a lot of opportunity for research into what grows best in the region.
I'd suggest throwing in a cover mix of annual rye, sorghum, field peas, and clover. tarp to terminate b/c it wont winterkill in sunny California. then start your corn/soybean rotation with cover in between. yeehaw. looking good on that there tractor.
One time my dad bought a tractor from our neighborhood a few miles away, and we had to bring it back. I was 15. We decided it was more legal for me to drive the tractor than the truck, so I drove it all the way home with Dad keeping space behind me in the truck. It was great
When using tractors and pto equipment like this you will have 3 settings you can adjust. In the cab you should see a lever or switch, this is your pto rpm. Started 2 settings are 500 and 1000. I believe a wood chipper is 500 and you had it set correctly in the video. But your tractor rpms should be in the 1500-2000 range for proper use. If you dont have a tachometer it should be about 3/4 throttle. Other than that, tighten your belt, sharpen your blades. Lastly if you are going to buy more 3 point hitch attachments (box blades, bionic blade, tiller, mower deck) I suggest getting a quick connect system. Allows for easy swapping of attachments. Hope this finds you well
I work in the tree care industry. Your rudimentary explanation of the chipper functions was awesome! I have been watching your videos since high school. It's really cool see this kind of content from you.
You should totally grow radishes. I don't know why or how. Just sounds like a cool thing to grow. Something about tractors and radishes, they just go together.
Radishes are one of the easiest things to grow but one radish plant will produce a hundred thousand seeds If you don't harvest before it goes to seed so it's easy to end up with what looks like a giant weed filled field that only has hard inedible radishes If you don't put in the work to harvest them all in time , their also one of the fastest growing crops only taking about 2 months from planting to harvest and if you wanna save seeds their one of easiest to reproduce seeds but they will likely pop back up where ever you let them go to seed even if you collect 99.99% of seeds before they drop
I was born and Grew up in Ventura. Seeing your videos always makes me miss out west. Gonna have to come buy ya some beers and work on tractors sometime.
I love the equipment videos! I run many big tractors! I even plow snow in Minneapolis driving a tractor in the cities! I'd get rid of the rattle cab though! PTO should be running 540 rpm

Ah, the twisty man diagram. Makes me smile every time I'm hooking up an implement. And it's completely accurate, those PTO shafts will grab you and turn you into pasta sauce without even noticing you got in the way.
Usually on chippers that black handle that wraps around the shield where you feed in the trees controls the speed and direction of the hydraulic pump on the feed rollers. Feeding larger materials usually requires controlling the feed rate with that handle to prevent stalling the tractor.
My FIRST thought when I saw baby was how much it looks like Caretaker 🤣 Will, thanks for being one of the rare creators on the site who’ve continued to be themselves and be hilarious through everything
I am surprised your other wheel tractor doesn't have a PTO. It's got the three point hitch with the box scraper there's usually a PTO so you can run a mower deck.
William, certified farmer here. Get some chains for that PTO cover. Theres one that goes on either end and hooks on to the tractor and the chipper and stops that cover from spinning. As cool as it would be to have a bionic hand, maybe make it an elective process rather than a necessity!! Cute little Ford btw health to enjoy it from Ireland!
honestly potato is going to have the best childhood. like imagine your dad literally being william osman. instead of having a basic normal father who you do normal father-child bonding activities with, potato is gonna have power tool races, robot vaccum pudding cleaning contests and battle bot fights with his father.
Crank that tractor up to full throttle when you're using the chipper. You don't want the chipper to get stuck because it's a pain to get it running again. Also the rectangular handle over the chute/funnel at the back of the chipper is a reverse for the feeder if you push it. If it starts to stall you press the handle and the feeder will pull out whatever you put in there so you don't kill the tractor. At least that's how our chipper works. Try if yours works the same.
I love that Kevin is like the devil of mad science. Every time I see a funny or questionable video involving dangerous materials, Kevin is somewhere wandering around in the background like a force of nature summoned to the location. 😂
PTOs take forever to come to a complete stop, you can disengage the power to it, and it will still freely spin the bushhog at a lower power for quite a bit. I always have to wait to re-engage the PTO once it has finally stopped spinning, to prevent any extra wear and tear on the equipment.
In my home village a girls hair got caught in a PTO and it didnt rip her scalp off but it detached her top of the head skin lose from the muscle and then spinned her around breaking virtually all her bones. So keep safety around that thing high. One lazy day or mistake and you can easily lose limb or life. Oh and regarding which crop: Well you already said it so some weed if yoh smoke and I can really recommend potatos and onions as both are very easily stored for long time so you dont have to eat all produce at once or have to process it. Same with beans , peas and carrots as they are fast in processing and easily frozen for half a year or so.
Those bright green bushes that popped up in the last month, the same ones that created that tumbleweed, is called stinkwort. They're a huge problem for land managers in ca
We drive our tractor around on the street to get to the other side of our property for maintaining, but we also live in a rural area, and only have two lane roads on our normal areas of travel. No stop lights on our usual route (filling up at the station involves going through an intersection), and we usually have a follow car to prevent people from tailgating and running into the bushhog. We wave people around our mini convoy when traffic is clear, and, when driving the tractor, I will pull off in a convenient area if we are starting a parade with the traffic.
