Fun fact about the red ant vs. black ant war. There are no red ants in northern California because all of the black ants in the state, ALL OF THEM, have some kind of alliance. They don't attack each other. So the red ants try to move in and they run into this nation of black ants that just has no mercy. The black ants are annoying as heck and really good at getting into houses, but I try to remind myself that they're protecting us from all of the other ants like a mob of tiny superheroes.

A friend lives out in country Victoria, Aus, and he had to deal with a Bull ant infestation. And those things will JUMP right at you from walls! They're also huge, 1,5 inches in length with a nasty sting! They will chase after you on the ground as well! Oh, and they have basically no natural predators 😅

Antkeeper here, the large ants at 0:12 are Pogonomyrmex badius. The smaller ants appear to be Linepithema humile, an extremely invasive species in many southern states of the US and highly invasive in California. Linepithema humile makes super colonies consisting of hundreds, if not, thousands of queens that span in a large area. They can found new colonies or can do a budding method where a part of the colony will fragment away from the original colony taking several queens and workers to start a new colony, a settlement one could say. Pogonomyrmex badius on the other hand, is the only native harvester ant species that's native to Florida and are somewhat commonly confused with Fire Ants (Solenopsis invicta). Several species of native ants that once lived in Florida used to be present in an abundance but were driven out or wiped out entirely from the state. The species that still exist are forced to adjust to the great issue the invasive species are giving them there. In the video, you can see the Linepithema humile start attacking the harvester ants that are trying to defend their nests from the invading workers. Unfortunately, it seems like the harvester ant colony were wiped out fully. But yeah, thought I might drop that little piece of info in here for those wondering what was going on with the ants. Love your videos by the way.

@@verynefariousyeah, you really want the mirror at the side closest to you as enter the room (so on the left wall if you're facing the mirror where it is in that room)... that way you don't get spooked because you can't see yourself til you walk closer bc of the shallow angle of your eyes to the wall, and more importantly - it doesn't feel like another person suddenly in the mirror, it feels like you because it's closer and matches your movement into the room, whereas a mirror facing you feels like someone moving the opposite direction to you coming towards you 😅. It's interesting because this made me realise I've always had my mirror that way in bedrooms, or in a way that I'm pretty much parallel to it if there isn't a wall next to the door -and this must be the reason for it!

Usually sulfur hexafluoride. I think Cody's lab did a video years ago where he breathed all the various gasses that change your voice pitch. Xenon might be one, too.
They didn't use enough aluminum. It poured down and filled only partially up, and the surface aluminum cooled down and clogged it before the rest could flow into the bottom. If they had used 50% more there would have been more flowing aluminum and the space would have filled completely. They probably could have waited a little longer too but you can tell it was pretty solid when they were digging it out.

I see you guys like molten aluminum. I’m wondering why would happen if you made a molten alloy of aluminum with some gallium? Gallium dissolves aluminum metal and makes it brittle - can even destroy aluminum locks and is banned on airplanes for this reason. Perhaps you will have a supper gallium alloy the is destructive to aluminum objects or is super ‘infective’. Just a thought - could be cool to do!
The force of gravity on both balloons is proportional to their masses so they'd take the same time to fall in a vacuum. The air reistance is about the same but because both aren't much denser than air bouyancy isn't negligible like it usually is, and that bouyancy doesn't increase proportionally with mass so it'll cause a greater upward acceleration on the lighter balloon, making it fall slower.

I see you guys like molten aluminum. I’m wondering why would happen if you made a molten alloy of aluminum with some gallium? Gallium dissolves aluminum metal and makes it brittle - can even destroy aluminum locks and is banned on airplanes for this reason. Perhaps you will have a supper gallium alloy the is destructive to aluminum objects or is super ‘infective’. Just a thought - could be cool to do!

The force of gravity on both balloons is proportional to their masses so they'd take the same time to fall in a vacuum. The air reistance is about the same but because both aren't much denser than air bouyancy isn't negligible like it usually is, and that bouyancy doesn't increase proportionally with mass so it'll cause a greater upward acceleration on the lighter balloon, making it fall slower.
