The trick to those chess pieces is dish soap or alcohol sprayed into them …. What I do to demold them is get me a bowl and put some warm water and some dawn dish soap… any dish soap will work though,,, I just add a little bit of that soapy water into the side of the mold squish it around and then POP! Out they come easy peasy!
This board is gorgeous…. I make a lot of chess sets but I have not tried making them with any sort of background paper like that… which is genius by the way!!!! I’ve used decals on the squares but not a solid sheet like you did… I need to go find some of those papers!!

@@resinnut9335 no problem… hope it helps you out… I use the 99.9% isopropyl alcohol to get most of the stuff I make out of their molds… just be sure to wipe them out afterwards because too much alcohol can dry the molds out and make them crack or split….

Gorgeous chess set. I have made a couple. Had a hard time demolding the pieces but used water and alittle soap. Love the lights and will be looking into the wood boards. Thanks for the tutorial. New subscriber here.

Lol, that's funny, the chess set is the first complicated set mold I've bought! I got a simple set of coasters, the chess set and a bunch of little molds for pendants and figures.
So fun to create with all the molds available now! :)
I’ve been wanting to do a chess board. Now you’ve incentivized me. I think your “bees” are wasps😁. Also, if you’ll use Denatured Alcohol, you’ll find it much better for bubbles and you won’t need to spray as much.

Hi just watched your chess video and a little trick to de mold is a bit is alcohol spray down the sides or washing up liquid. It’s really easy then to get out.

Thanks so much, Cath! I only use water or the liquid now.. Since I like to demold ASAP, I find that the alcohol has an adverse effect on freshly cured resin. I just order another full set of chess piece molds so that I can it all at once... so next time I'm definitely going to try your suggestion!! Thank you!! ☺️
Maybe try different size syringes for the little lines and dots and whatnot??? I watch your videos every day!!!!

Lol, they also didn't send you bees, they sent you wasps. That's unfortunate. People tend to like bees better, although a lot of people are pretty traumatized by both. They still look great on the sunflowers.
I really love the clear and gold on the chess pieces, which is really set off by the black bodies you gave them. The other ones are nice too. I can't wait to do my own chess set! I never really thought about creating a box and stuff for the chess set, but that is a very good idea! I'll have to see if I can do something fairly easy and simple. I'd probably want to add hinges to my box though. I got a drill. I know how to use it! :D

Did you wipe the 24k with the baby wipe when it was wet or dry? The alcohol when dry?
I wish you have video how to put this all together with wooden panels .Did you glue chess board to panel ?
The panels here are a wooden shadow box and I only used rubber feet to sit the chess board on top. :)

Near the beginning you lightly sprayed your mold with a squirt bottle. What was in the squirt bottle?
That was 91% Isopropyl alcohol to help prevent bubbles from forming. Thank you for the question. :)

Yes, the sunflowers get a lot more bold when you add the white background. It's because soaking the paper in resin made it translucent, and blue makes yellow very dim, like it's in shadows. It's good you checked what color to use before you did the flood coat.
I really like the effect of the gold on there, in between the pieces. I do notice it didn't completely come off the board though. The whole board has little sparkles and streaks all over it, even after the topcoat was added. That's sad. It does show me that it's best to color those lines BEFORE I pour my resin, so I'll have to keep that in mind. Thank you!
Btw, I got my full set as a single purchase through Michael's. I do not trust Temu. People think they're losing tons of money just by operating. It sounds like a hidden scam somewhere. I worry they're selling credit cards or stolen goods, outselling legit businesses to collapse them and disrupt economies or something else nefarious! It's just a little too suspicious, like pyramid schemes.

It's strange you mentioned about Temu!!! I got a letter from my bank that there were suspicious attempts on my card and that they were closing my account and sending me a new card. This happened shortly after I had ordered from Temu! I think you could be on to something here! 😢
