Quick tip to everyone from me.... Check the condition of your rear Anti roll bar mounting bolts before they become coroded . Copper grease the threads of new bolts and cover the new bolt heads with silicone bathroom sealant to protect them . Doing this will prevent a body lift in the future when you need to replace Rear ARB bushes like i had to . Great video Christian and Vera, merry Christmas to you all 🎄🎁
Normally, we can't work on other Land Rovers, we just don't have the time. But that was a special case of search and rescue, and with freezing temperatures, we really want his car to start up, so he can go out and save some lifes.👍😀🙋♀️
Did mine in a typical off road fix, lifted the cover used silicone and gorilla tape over the hole, no problem since, free fix had the silicon and tape in my workshop 10 minutes lol great video as always. Happy Christmas to you all and all the best for your family and channel in 2023, Phil and Louise
Great video as usual, I'm sure the Columbian marching powder was a genuine LR accessory in the UK, it came as a package with 20" wheels and dark tinted windows.... 👍
Always look forward to Sunday morning for my Christian lecture on life as a land rover owner… Great content guys, keep up the good work. Merry Christmas
I find your channel very interesting. And I love your humour too 😀 It also makes me appreciate my 13 year old Skoda Fabia with 155,000 miles that has only needed routine servicing, a battery and an exhaust.
This video reminded me of too many years ago when I was training as a mechanic in the early '80s, with a business that repaired and maintained Land Rovers fitted with petrol V8 engines. A new 110 had been driven on a very wet day and the water had poured in through all of the floor panels, they had not been sealed properly when it was built, back then it was typical British engineering....
My LR3 had two of those locators on each a pillar, one at the bottom and one at the top. I removed and taped over both. Also, you should consider doing the intake air/cowl water leak repair. The black plastic cowl cover will warp with age and allow water to pour into the cabin after it soaks the cabin air filter. It’s another simple preventive fix with tape and some plastic shielding.
Yeah, and it could have been done with this job, as it requests the same parts removed ;-). FYI: you can see this flaw of LR at 8:08 in the top right corner of the video. BTW if you miss this fix, it does not only soak the airfilter but also damages the blowermotor, Been there done that ;-)
@@lobby1529 there is a youtube video, but dont ask me where and when. But it is easy to do. Just follow this video until you get to minute 08:08. There you see the inlet of the air in the top rught corner. When opened up you will immediatel understand the problem, as soon as you put some water over your windshield. To fix you just have to mount a lip beneath the windshield, so water drops beside this opening. I used self adhesive bituminal sheets, as it is stable under typical road condition and it was lying around in my garage. So it is as easy to repair as in this video and needs to follow the same steps of disassemling and assembling the wipers, the A-pillar covers and the windshield cover.
An excellent (and excellently amusing) Sunday video as always. Joachim has a great sense of humour as well (but hopefully no more leaks). The black-smithing is very impressive too. And of course... "Off the record, on the QT and very hush-hush..." (not sure if you are familiar with this phrase). Happy Holidays to you all!
I had this on my 2005 sport. I did the A pillar, the sun roof drains and also the air con drain. It’s been fine since but the sunroof drain was the main issue for mine.
Another very interesting video, Thank you Christian and Vera, I did buy a new Land Rover series lll in 1978 it was a petrol 6 cyn LWB and the price $6,800 AUD, after a few years I did an engine change over and went for a GMH 161 Cubic Inch 6 cylinder. Keep up your very interesting videos all the best wishes from Australia
Merry Christmas Vera & Christian, A wonderful video as usual. Nice diagnosis. You must be very proud of Robin’s craftsmanship! Thank you for sharing. Love and best wishes.
Evening Vera & Christian. It’s always a pleasure watching you two work on LR 😊 It be Christmas 🎄 next week. So in case there’s no video I wish you both and all of your family a very happy Christmas and all the very best for 2023. X for Vera cheers Stevie 🏴
There is another classic designed-in leak in that area where the window seal unloads with age and water then drip into the cabin air intake through the blower onto the foot well carpets. Might be more a RHD vehicle issue but may be not. It just takes a little bit of plastic sheet to extend the water run beyond the air intake to fix. I do enjoy your videos and I liked my Discovery III, but rust was ever increasing the work load. I spend hours routing new auto-box oil cooling pipes after they rusted through. Obviously must be another body-off job in the manual. 🙂
eBay repair kit for A-pillar, £11.25. I'm pretty sure they aren't LR OEM, but think about it,...LR don't make plastic clips they are supplied by 3rd party manufacturer. The benefit of purchasing an OEM kit, it will be sent in a plastic bag worth £10+, so they will have included a carbon offset value to it, so rest assured the bag is good. !! Keep it up guys, great content.
Another entertaining watch. Has reminded me I need new A Pillar covers (mine are cracked and have been abused by windscreen repair guys) plus I need to look at my scuttle panel as it is warping. Not so much rain here in WA at the moment though so we get away with a few leaks here and there.
Great content as always! Had to do the same on my LR3 recently in the hopes it would alleviate water accumulating in the footwell. Turns out it was actually the AC Condenser drain port in mine that was clogged and causing the water accumulation on the NAS spec passenger side. Blew out the drain valve and have not had an issue since 👍
Were you guys in my shed last week in Ireland, how did you know I had this exact problem?! I bought a similar hot glue gun in Lidl years ago and it has fixed headlights in a legacy GT, door cards in the disco and many many other jobs. One of the cheapest and best tools in my garage.
Another great video from the LR team. Crazy that LR put the hole in there in the first place! Liked the ending, was a nice touch to see the guys at work in the smithy! Looking forward to your Christmas special. Have a Merry one! 🎄🎄
I’ve been chasing down a leak into the driver (left side) foot well, I check the sun roof drain and it wasn’t it and was still having leaks, thank you bring this up I did all the checks like you did and there’s my leak! Thanks, keep up the good work!!

Bugha getting the water out Hopefully this week 🙏 all good But thank you for your video I was lost were the water was coming from Love my discovery 3 Thank you Keep up your great work You are a blessing 🙏
I had this issue on my previous D3. It actually stopped all the central locking from working so I couldn’t open the car. Water had sat inside the the inner door sill and got into the wiring harness. Luckily the Facebook group had information on it. There is a green wire spliced under the plastic door sill trim that corrodes with the water leak, mine was full of water.
A great and interesting video, as always - thanks. I do like Joachim's snorkel, there is an identical (non LR OEM) one available. I like this design as the fixings are invisible and it's not so ugly at the top. I loved the bit about "too many words" - there are actually more words in the English language than German and French put together! Have a wonderful Christmas and I will wave as I drive back up the A3 in January as I return to the UK from Christmas in Slovakia (and pray that we don't get as many "stau" as we did coming out).
Oh the A3 is a pain. I just avoided this Autobahn under any circumstance on my cross Germany trip this weekend. Have a save drive and Merry Christmas to you too. 🎄😀🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Thanks Vera - not a lot of choice when you come into Germany at Aachen and leave at Passau. Aaaaargh, THAT's where the water is coming from!!! I did the sunroof drain fix and boom, first rain it was soaked again. Thanks Christian and Vera!!

These Bozo's at Rover can't find their ass with a dozen hands!
Nice to see that this was actually an easy and inexpensive fix for what could potentially turn in to an expensive problem. Cheers!
Great video, and loved the extra blacksmithing footage!
amazing!
Can't wait to see what happened at the TUV inspection and an update from Fabians engine would be great!
We always have spare bulbs when we head to the TÜV. So, bummer, but that was not the case Andy. 😅🙋♀️
Fabians engine is running just fine. No need for an update. He is putting a ton of kms on it. 👍💪🙋♀️Vera

It is shocking how Landrover carry on! Good job we have you guys!
Learning the little tips that you offer with ‘tongue-in-cheek’ sarcasm. Your command of English is entertaining and instructional 😊
