Lee's hair is a little darker than it is nowadays! But man, I've been wishing I could play like him since the 70s Jackson Browne era. Sweetheart of a guy, too! Peace! ✌
I was there with my late husband David who died in 1994. Great memories. David was no Genesis fan but he loved this concert. We went to London to see the show again but David too ill to attend. So I took my 8 year old son Ben. I had a little Chester Thompson playing the saucepans for about 3 years afterwards. Thank you for uploading.
I know. It’s sad to see these awesome musicians age. We go to their concerts decades later hoping to hear a familiar song the same way we heard them years earlier and it’s just not the same because we all get old. Bands like Genesis and Rush were iconic bands because of the strength of their musicianship was evident with every note they played. They just don’t make bands like that anymore. Everything nowadays is so electronic that it sounds fake. The last of the great bands AC/DC are still playing but unfortunately even their days are numbered. All of our days are numbered. The memories though……
Literally "Phil Collins and Genesis". Phil, Daryl and Chester were already there (Daryl and Chester also toured with Phil), Tony and Mike joined as guests and there were Genesis. An historical moment, as Genesis played with all the musicians that played with Phil. Also notice that the backing vocalists does a similar harmony to the original studio version on the chorus.
Well I agree that it’d be nice if they didn’t do that But imagine you were handed a device in 1975 at a concert and it was shown to you that you can record the entire concert from this tiny device Your next action would be holding it up and recording the concert so you could watch it later Now you probably would never go back and watch it Much like people who take thousands of photos of their family and never look at them again But just try to remember that people are using technology to capture a moment in time So if you view it that way it’s not quite as objectionable But again I agree with your sentiment but I don’t think that’s what is ruining concerts nowadays I think it’s the fact that music just isn’t as good nowadays
Absolute *Legends* , ill start with Mike Rutherford , Tony Banks ,and ( im bowing, and Saluting ,the guy who took Genesis to another level ,as well as one of the finest Vocalists, and one of The Best Drummers from The Uk,*dont forget history maker! Playing at both Live Aid shows ,same day, 7 hours later in Philli ) Mr Phil Collins , What a career
This concert was broadcasted in FM stereo to several stations in Europe. I was lucky enough in Portugal to record it...and boy was it worth it. In those days we didn't have Internet video, so I always wondered how great it would have been to actually watch it. Well I do now. Long live youtube
i'ved loved genesis all my life and own everything they did and this concert was the tops but it takes a lot to beat live in roam 2007 in front of 500,000
Genesis and Phil are just great! Phil has a tremendous amount of charisma and confidence. How Genesis could audition 75+ people after Peter Gabriel left before choosing a guy sitting right behind them is remarkable. A great choice and I think there's a reason Mike and Tony stayed on. The success of Genesis and Phil individually blows Gabriel out of the water.
I love this song... I love looking at the keyboards and seeing how far they have advanced. The keyboard had a 5 1/4 floppy drive built in it. Today, all you need is a laptop and 2 keyboards.. Well in this case, 4.. 2 for each player.
Some of the songs are missing in this medley. I remember hearing it with Satisfaction from the Rolling Stones and the Rigtheous Brothers' You've lost that loving feeling.
Looks like Phil did a Genesis show along with the _Serious Hits_ tour. That must be why *his* fellas are there, and why he does the same thing with the purple jacket as with "Hand in Hand."
Yup that's me in that pile o people....nice to see the boys dressing up for once...plus seeing Genesis at Wembley 87 and Rome 07 also it's a treat to see Phil with younger energy....he really put the miles on
I was there a lot has been cut out especially the groups along bit with Eric .Phil .mark. elton.hank marvin. aswell . Not even on the video just a short bit. But not where they was all jamming together.. Gutted but what a great day one of the best concerts I've ever been to and I've seen over 100. Please repeat it guys before it's too late. We will all be there to support you. In nordoff Robbins music therapy we trust..we need more shows with old bands like this not Glastonbury ever poxy year.
Looking back at this concert, it was a ridiculously good line up with the likes of Elton John, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits and Pink Floyd also on the bill. My personal highlight though was Robert Plant. He was on the bill as performing solo so it was a nice surprise when he did Immigrant Song, but then Jimmy Page wandered on for the last three numbers, all Led Zeppelin, ending with a storming run through of Rock and Roll. The only downside was the weather, which was more mid-October than mid-summer by the end of the evening.
It was literally the Phil Collins band from his 1990 But Seriously tour playing alongside the live Genesis line up. Worth looking up the full set if you can find it for both the Phil Collins solo numbers and Mama, which was the opening Genesis track preceding this.
Being an amateur local musician, I've thought that copying this medley would bowl over a local pop club audience as a set-ending song.... Love Genesis!
I remember having this on video - taped off the tv :-) Medley's been edited though... Satisfaction and Loving Feeling are gone. Probably to fit into UA-cam's 10 minute slot :-(
Now that’s a crowd! Long live Genesis and Phil Collins!!
Came here from Leland Sklar channel 6/10/2020
Me too
Yep
Lee Sklar and Chester Thompson laying it DOWN in the rhythm section
You know it. Always. Chester was specially invited by Phil, so...

Me too! All hail Lee Sklar!
3 guitar players, 2 drummers, 2 keyboardist backing vocals & a horn section, 1 full concert would've been beautiful
Anyone else just come here on Leland Sklar’s recommendation?

Only People with Digital watches have their Days numbered
My God - Phil Collins has both his band Genesis and solo band on same stage? No way!! I'm gonna save it in my favorites. Fuller sound
Well of course PC, Chester and Daryl are in both touring bands, but this is next level!!!!!!
@@glennwallace9203 plus the horn section did both as well.
I just realized that!
There's a cd available of this concert...Knebworth......must have been one of my first cds I ever bought...

Here because of Lee Sklar 👍
End of an era. Will never see Genesis in concert ever again.
Nice to see people actually enjoying music instead looking into their stupid phones. Those days are over...

Mr Phil Collins , What a career
I’m sad that he can’t play anymore!
Genesis best band ever
33+ yrs ago. Amazing.
Phil was brilliant, great front man to remember all those lines. Superb timing.
Yes!
Genesis and The Blues Brothers. THE parts of my life!
Phil Collins is a G I A N T !!!!!
Look at the people ! What a concert!
Leeland Sklar, Brad Cole and the EWF horns playing with Genesis? What a concert!

Incredible, one of the heads in the field was mine.
so uderrated and unkown show, great i found it :)
The look Tony Banks gives at 9:09! He's feeling it
Genesis Prime, Knebworth 1990. Lots of musicians backing them up, I like this.
Lee Sklar..... One of the best bassists ever.
Somewhere in that 250,000 crowd is me!!
Wow...Leland Sykalr always looks the same. It doesn't matter whether it's 1975, 1990, 2000 or 2010. He never changes!
I've never seen his last name spelled that way. Good one.
Chester Thompson is pounding those drums like they owe him money....even during the breakdown section.
What a fantastic riff this is, brilliant version of this song..
Lee told me to check this out , we do as he says 👑
Love this song!!❤
Hermosísimo concierto!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Wonderful genesis
Genesis' epic performance as expected, and it is all led by my beyond epic boy Phil.

I was lucky to have seen them on the Abacab Tour, Wembley Arena, 1982. Just love this band.
Saw the in Leeds 1992
Great concert
And just 2 years later the band were back there performing once more.
Turn it on again... with FOUR TOPS !!!!! Thank you

They are still friends, dood. PG had different goals than the other guys. Don’t knock him.
Very cool medley! Great band(s)!!!
Mr Sklar reminded me of this. Shame that this clip is cut. I have the uncut version on VHS. Somewhere. Nearly twice as long. Love it!
It always amazes me that they decided to play two older songs in this concert after the huge success Invisible Touch was
Truely great! Just in the middle of Phil´s Serious Tour (that´s also the reason why all the non-genesis guys are on stage) a superb performance :-)
Wow - harmonies AND horns...!
I love this song... I love looking at the keyboards and seeing how far they have advanced. The keyboard had a 5 1/4 floppy drive built in it. Today, all you need is a laptop and 2 keyboards.. Well in this case, 4.. 2 for each player.

Wow, a fan for 50 years, i never have seen the horns on stage, never. I must have crawled under a rock. Phil your a big nerd.
