There was a time when I couldn't understand why tree removal was so expensive, the equipment, expertise and skill of the crew is the answer, hell of a job, hell of a crew and hell of a video Chris!
The term Tree Monkey is absolutely correct!! That youngster is playing 3D chess in the Canopy of that tree... watching him dissect that tree safely is impressive and entertaining! Thanks for the ride along Chris!
Elliot is a great guy he actually brought me my first load of wood that got me started selling wood years ago! That guy is home in trees he's got a gift perfect local guy for great video
The crane and the mini skid steer loader are a game changer. Being an old gymnast going upside down on that crane to me look like fun! The arborist was fun to listen to and an excellent leader. Regard’s
Excellent. If you ever get the chance, please do a spec video on that loader. That was the most interesting piece of equipment on the job site. The professionalism of the crew was impeccable. Even when the mishap during loading happened nobody lost their cool. That could have turned catastrophic in a real hurry. Thanks for sharing this video.
Yes the equipment, knowledge, skill, insurance and crew for this work is not cheap. And some people thing oh you can have the wood if you come cut it down...THAT is funny!.
Nice video Chris. Real impressive operation all the way around. Monkey on a string and crew all did well. Nice looking Honey Locust wood. The fastest growing hardwood in America. GNI
No yelling, no screaming, boom truck, please and thank you, Stihl saws, immaculate rigs, polished rims, everyone knew their purpose, respect of pedestrian and vehicular traffic, Ansi approved gear, Osha compliant, skilled and professionalism and a trailer of honey locust with not a spec of sawdust to be found. This crew is Zhit Hot.
AnnMarie.... That was something to watch and appreciate eh!!! Chris is hanging out with the right crowd!! Which we all know of course... but holy Smokes this crew were good.
@GregPrince-io1cb The communication was so clear. Our radios were the best money could buy. But it sounded like you were yelling into a stack of bath towels. Nice noise canceling, too.
They make some weights for the back of the bigger units, but I am not sure if they are available for this size machine. Either way...I didn't appear to have them.
Making me wish I wasn’t starting a firewood business all over again! Iv always done cut a cord day of the sale to minimize handling and maximize efficiency and only have room for 3-6 cords at my place. But I do have a couple vacant lots and lots of other room for stockpiling on my fathers property, unfortunately being 20 miles out of town the tree services always change their mind about the distance 😢 I even live in oregons “city of trees”. With fire season approaching and no stock I’m itching to start the next season
😢2 things about locust heavy and can be thorny looked at a job thorns about 5 inches long bid high didn't get it crane jobs are nice but you have to be on your a game for dead wood makes it so much easier but expensive looked like some of the ones they chipped could of gave to you for firewood but free wood cant complain have a good day thanks for the show 35:25
At the end the vechile that came around seemed kind of rude to me. Just my opinion, but when i see work being done, i try to be extra careful. Great job very impressive.
Two things: never grab the load with the loader while hooked to the crane, great way to pull the picker over. No.2- Trust your ground guys so you never need to come down from the job. Unless you just like riding hooks. Fun show as always. Thanks
Riding the hook is the best way to set slings because you are on the plumb line and can pick the center balance point accurately. It also gives you the safest tie in point for setting the slings, esp. on dead trees. The ground crew here was actually very green so I do like to come help them as much as possible. As far as landing picks with the loader, notice I did not grab it while it was in the air. He set the butt on the ground, then I grab the piece and lift. The weight slowly transfers to my machine while I back up, he cables down and we never pull the cable out of plumb nor do we add weight to his scale. It’s all about communication and team work. Also note that he could easily hold the entire weight of that piece and of my loader at that radius (6,000 lb brush + 3,000 lb loader). His limiting factor would be line pull so tipping or breaking the boom in that configuration would be almost impossible.
Good afternoon Chris!!😀😀 Sometimes it takes a bunch to impress me. I was seriously impressed with the boss man. Guy cutting in the trailer was certainly green. But hopefully he will learn fast. He looks pretty young. Too bad they chip so much nice firewood. But I understand. It's all about getting in and out as quickly and safely as possible. Do you have any idea how much he charged for that tree ? I used to do a lot of trees like that 25 to 35 years ago. We didn't have all the fancy toys back then. We would have just put a rope in that tree and fell it right into the street in on piece for about 500 dollars for dropping it and cleaning it up. I'm assuming he probably got 2 to 3 thousand for it. Thanks for recording them buddy!!😀😀👍👍 Logger Al
Yes it was very impressive to see in person. They do good work for sure. The crane time, chipper, loader, and crew are not cheap to run for sure. I would have guessed about $3,000 but it was only $1600 ...very reasonable for the fast well done pro job!
Neat video, cranes make that job go quickly. Advances in technology and equipment have made the job of an arborist safer in some instances. Looks cool and is effortless but requires minimal skill, the real trick is to drop that tree with none of that equipment and still have no property damage.
@@InTheWoodyard No kid, no jealousy, I run a Merlo 4030 with a Woodcracker 730 head. I have similar equipment to expedite the process. The difference is after 28 years in the industry my perspective of "Time and accuracy" are different than your untrained eye. The boys in that video did an outstanding job, as should be expected with over $1million dollars worth of equipment on site. Give them boys a rope, saddle, three rigging ropes, a friction saver and three saws of their choice and I'll be impressed. But hey, that's just my untrained, uneducated, inexperienced perspective. Look into August Hunicke's old school video's, maybe you'll learn something.
Trying to nay say without criticizing, is that possible? They chipped WAY more firewood than I would've, but then I will use smaller saws to cut out the smaller stuff. That big saw didn't seem to cut very well. Chris needs to show 'em how to sharpen. And overall, it seemed they considered this work day a play date...fun, fun fun for all! I'd like the vid better if I could see more time and effort dedicated to safety and carefulness. Other than that, great video.
They get paid to make the tree go away not firewood. They would chip it all if they could. A lot of tree service wood goes to the land fill for$55 a ton paid to the county. So getting rid of it is all that matters. They do 4-6 jobs a day at $1500-2500 average each so firewood is not even on their minds. They are very safe and very good at what they do.
Love watching our local tree service on crane jobs very interesting. But did you say that your karen neighbors didn't like you running firewood out of your photog lot with a pickup and a dump trailer and yet THESE Guys are right there too??
