    Add a wiich to your trailer with a swing out crane to pick up the backbreakers. Then you will be able to harvest all your cuttings. If your splitter won’t handle the bigger rounds I highly recommend the eastonmade axis. It will easily split them to whatever size you want and it includes a log lifter to save your back.

    Good question, besides weight to lug around, why such a short bar? I'd think that a 24in bar would be a good compromise between weight, handling of the saw, and cutting speed when deciding between 20in and 28in bars.

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  3 роки тому +1

      Most hand cutters do not like a long bar because of brush and managing it. 20-24" is normal here.Remember a 20" bar gets you a 40" cut, and that is a big tree. Ken says that a 20" bar will cut 98% of trees down around here.

    Good morning Chris!!😀😀
    Those were some of the ugliest white pines I've seen in a while. Made sense when he said that a tornado hit it back in the seventies. Your brother is quite the logger.
    What I wouldn't give to be back in the physical shape you two are. I miss being able to go out on a cold day like that and fell big monsters like them. Now days when I get In a stand of trees like those I usually take my harvester and
    work with the with the hand cutter. I will clean up around the tree for them and then put the cutting head against the tree and push them over to where we want them to go so they don't berry the piles that are already processed. Keeps the forwarder operator happy when he doesn't have to dig the wood out of the brush pile.
    The only thing I saw that made me a little nervous about the way your brother cuts is he leaves a lot of duchmans in his notch.
    There's a real easy way to not do that. All you have to do is make the top cut first. Then you can watch in that cut when making the bottom cut so you don't bypass and get a duchman.
    He's one of the few guys left that still uses a measuring stick to measure with.
    This has been my favorite video that you have made so far. It must have been hard to just stand there and film and not do any cutting.
    That old 153 Fabtec looked to be in pretty nice shape for its age.
    Take care my friend!!😀😀👍👍
    TTYL!!😀😀
