    From your neighbor down in Eastern Kentucky. I've been doing this a long time and seen a lot of 357 mag sent down range. The 125 XTP footage was without question the best fireball I've seen! Love the 6 shot groups for better overall understanding of each load. Well done sir and God bless

    Thanks for the ammo knowledge. Not lots of info on the RP63 out there. I just received one and really like it. The trigger is surprisingly smooth for a $400 firearm.

    I own all kinds of revolvers, no Rossi wheel guns though but Ive got a couple Taurus 65's one made in the 70's and a newer production one that shoot as good as any Smith or Ruger I own, I'll probably buy one.

      I have a friend who was a career probation officer and also did security part time. He carried a Rossi and loved it. I have had several Taurus guns over the years and liked them all. I currently have two Taurus and Rossi .357 Lever action rifle. I have never had a problem with any of them. My EDC is Taurus G2C. I've put about 1000 rounds through it since Christmas without any issues. I even ran it for 500 rounds without cleaning to see if it would quit on me and it did not. I went to a training course where we shot Texas LTC qualification, Texas qualification for armed teachers, Austin PD qualification, and the FBI qualification. I passed them all. I outshot guys with $3000 guns with my $200 Taurus G2C.

    Got one today. It took a YEAR!! No chance to shoot it yet, but it seems very well built. I have a Rossi 5 shot 44 Special which impressed me enough to make me take note when the RP63 was announced and decide to hunt one down. Someone commented somewhere about the heavy double action pull on this new gun. Might even have been this channel. But an angry gorilla would have a hard time pulling this trigger. C'mon Rossi! I know from the .44 that you CAN make a decent trigger... what happened here??!!

    • @kentuckyrangetime
      @kentuckyrangetime  7 місяців тому +2

      So, my Taurus Tracker in .357 and my Taurus.38 SN both have a much better double action trigger pull than this R63. But…. The R63 trigger is still better than my Rossi snub nose from when Braz-tech was making them. 🤷🏼‍♂️.
      I didn’t pay it much attention till you mentioned it and went back to compare them all. Lol. I wish my trigger pull scale went above 10lbs so I could check it.

    • @davidkachel
      @davidkachel 7 місяців тому +1

      @@kentuckyrangetime Yeah, the Rossi propaganda says the trigger pull is 10 lbs. In a pig's eye! And I am not going to break my shiny new trigger pull measuring device finding out, either! I'll find some weaker springs and stone the action... of course, that's may take the whole stone quarry!!

      @kentuckyrangetime  6 місяців тому

      True. Lol.
      I only had 1 ever lock up on me and it was my fault… 🙄. I was shooting some hot 158gr loaded for my 6” GP100 and didn’t have enough crimp for the snub-nose. The bullets were jumping with every shot and #5/#6 were getting too long for the cylinder to rotate! 😂.
      Quick pass through the press to add more crimp and they were good to go.

    thanks for a very well-done video! my RP63, good points: well-made revolver, lots of S&W influence; not-so-good-points: rear sight is minimal - much narrower than it should be compared with other fixed sight revolvers of similar size; the wide target trigger - for me, has no place on a carry CCW / EDC piece; and the rubber grips - put the knuckle of my third finger right smack up against the trigger guard, with my arthritis, just hurts like the dickens. Wish Rossi would offer some plain ol' wooden grips that follow the contour of the frame. I can use it for my intended needs, but will try to have my local g'smith open up the rear sight notch a little, maybe trim the width of the trigger, and some seek better grips.

    First time to your channel. I know at one time a fixed sight revolver was sighted was sighted in for the 158 grain 38/357, with a 6 o'clock hold. Nowadays, who knows. On the Rossi RP 63, it shows on the Rossi website as a small frame. And I have read it's a little bulky. So, is it closer to say a J frame or a K frame. Or somewhere in between?

    • @kentuckyrangetime
      @kentuckyrangetime  7 місяців тому

      I currently don’t have a J or K frame on hand to do a direct comparison but I feel like the RP63 size falls in between the 2 with mainly the cylinder area being larger than the J frame cylinder.

    • @kentuckyrangetime
      @kentuckyrangetime  7 місяців тому +2

      Yes. This would be a great 1st revolver. It’s very versatile.
      Single action OR double action.
      Shoots .357mag OR .38spl.
      All steel frame will help manage recoil.
      .38spl 125gr FMJ factory loads would be very pleasant for new shooters and being able to pull that hammer back for single action shooting would make it easy to work on trigger mechanics.
      You can move up to double action trigger work without the heavier trigger when your ready then add more powerful.357 loads when your ready for more recoil.

    This Rossi is comparable to Taurus 856 38 or S&W Model 60 , 357 seems a little much for this size frame height, 38 and 38 p. are hot enough. The larger frame 686 would be much better for 357 .
