    Those song writing skills make this look easy. Tried it myself and came up with gobbledygook salad. Love these videos.

    • @treyxaviermusic
      @treyxaviermusic  6 років тому +14

      The main thing is to do it a bunch and not get frustrated. This is an intentionally limiting exercise, so it can easily turn into riff salad. The goal is to keep a consistent thread throughout the song so even when the beat gets weird you still know it's the same song.

    • @jdestrada3723
      @jdestrada3723 6 років тому

      Solid advice thanks man.
      I also somehow deleted all the grooves from toontack so I'm using SSD4 but I'll keep trying lol

    Best episode yet man. Really love that format. My only critique would be, there was some sort of low static happening whenever you would show us the soloed drum tracks. Either way though, absolutely enjoyed it, and I hope to see more episodes like it. Keep up the awesomeness!!!!! 😎

    A song is a single (and often standalone) work of music that is typically intended to be sung by the human voice with distinct and fixed pitches and patterns using sound and silence and a variety of forms that often include the repetition of sections.

    I think it would be more interesting to have rythms from more music styles (like funk, jazz, etc...) for the writing process. I like the series, but picking all metal rythms is not as random as it could be. Nice video though, keep it up :D

    THEORY QUESTION!? @ 16:40 I get the idea of starting with a melody but how do you use it to get the chords? Do you just use chords that highlight the same note as the key from which you derived the melody?

    • @treyxaviermusic
      @treyxaviermusic  6 років тому

      That's a really good question, and like, an insanely long and complex answer hahaha. Short version: find chords that contain the melody notes when they're happening. There's a lifetime of study in harmony but that'll get you started!

    • @andrewdimartino7426
      @andrewdimartino7426 6 років тому

      Haha I feel so excited I actually asked a relevant music theory question for once, ive been trying to pick up as much of it as I can recently. Your answer makes real sense to me, which thankfully means im not as clueless as I thought. Sounds like I could use some more knowledge in chord voicings and getting more familiar with different scales so i can tie them together in a musical way, thanks Gear Gods!

    I noticed if I use 88.2khz sample rate instead of the 41000 my latency goes away to almost being non existent. Is there anything wrong with doing this? Like playback issues or exporting issues? I can't believe how much tighter it sounds with 88.2. I'm doing exactly what your doing and I'm learning how many guitars to use and where to pan them and how to play tight. Do you just do 2 left guitars, 2 right guitars and then put the lead down the center? The final mix sounds bad ass my friend? Hopefully I can get to that sound sooner than later! Just subbed. What is a good drummer plugin to use that's fairly inexpensive? Is the superior drummer 3 really worth 300 bucks?
