A variation on this I'd like to see is to do this whole random song thing. Then once it's done, take the drums out and send it to a drummer to see what they come up with.
I can’t believe I didn’t like this song when I first heard it. It’s so sick, I keep coming back to it.
This just shows how integral tommy is to btbam. Nearly any metal track with his scream sounds like btbam. Its insane how he just opens his mouth and you know exactly who it is and you know its going to crush. Dudes is a living legend
Thanks so much for having me, Gear Dad. You and Tommy fucking crushed this.
You killed it dude
@@Penz0id You're the best dude, thank you!
that solo ❤
You killed that solo man! Great job!
Watching Tommy come from where he was around silent circus era to where he's at now is something to behold. He's aging like fine wine.
I see Tommy...I get excited. It's that simple.
Edit: HOLY SHIT!!! That was epic. I love BTBAM, and this certainly had a BTBAM feel. Tommy is so versatile being able to adapt to different grooves and stuff. I need this song on Spotify. If it ever makes its way on there, it's definitely a regular listen for me.
Tommy is a damn national treasure. His vox are just so good. Great video and song!
Holy shit Tommy got through those transitions smooth af! I suppose that's pretty much his specialty at this point, but still damn impressive
What did you guys think? Big thanks to Tommy and to @Riffified Isaac Stolzer-Gary for the ripping guitar solo, and thanks to Toontrack for sponsoring #MetalMonth all November long!
Dude! drop this ish on Spotify now!
It blows my mind how I can not be sold on a musical idea until vocals and some lead bits go with it. Completely changes and polishes something that might sound alien. Kick ass
How in the fuck do you not get overwhelmed, with all of these ideas writing out of the blue ?
Might be the best one of these you've done. Guest talent crushed the eff out of their parts....
Tommy’s got that secret sauce. I can’t wait to see him perform again
That's not guest talent, that's Tommy fucking Giles!!!!!!
It helps when the guest talent is a musical god.
Tommy is a living legend, yes.
I like the idea of introducing riffs a little before it actually hits. I do this with swaping the ending out with the new riff ending.
God how is Tommy so good. Also GREAT solo
Everything Tommy touches turns to gold. Great song!
Pretty sure this is how Dream Theater has been writing songs since 2006.
That syncopated doom/core breakdown is siiiick
I normally don't think that Tray's dice are a good drummer but this time the track is utterly epic. I love it so much!
Dude that was amazing! If you told me BTBAM wrote that I’d believe it
I completely agree with you.
I love the video editing so much in your videos. They always make me laugh, lol.
I'm reminded of watching masters paint on PBS, except this is waaay more entertaining!
That intro riff drives me nuts but the rest of the song could have easily been a mini btbam song and I would have believed it.
Damn that was epic. Tommy smashing it as per
Great video and I never knew an iso box would look so cinematic! It's actually really cool! Great job all around
Tommy is such a perfect fit for that prog nightmare lmao it's awesome.
so so so so so so siiick. loved that solo!!
It wouldn't be a BTBAM cross over song without my boi Issac on lead guitar \m/
That was awesome! I love BTBAM and I love Tommy's vocals. He's become so dynamic in his range of vocal styles. Trey, yet again, writing something so f'ing cool from random drums. I tried this once and failed. I think I'm gonna give it another go. You've inspired me man!
Went back and listened to all of the other you have done of these...and wow, this is absolutely the best one....just fucking epic
So fucking cool, man. This series is one of my favorite on UA-cam.
watched all of them and this was deff my favorite
Holy shit this is insane!
Everything after solo was awesome. 28:44-28:52 BTBAM interlude :D
the final track was killer! for some reason it gave me pretty strong avenged sevenfold vibes, especially with that chorus
Dude, WTF, you're killing it! Love this series!
This song legit turned out super good!!!!
23:31 wow so this song was initially sort of written a year ago?! Amazing how it comes to such a transition and evolution
The song came together so well! 😱 it's amazing!
27:54 that was amazing
Do you put these on Spotify or somewhere? I really want this in my playlists. Wasn't sure how it'd turn out after picking the beats but fuck it transformed into a beast
Tommy, the greatest vocalist in music. Also, that vegan diet has done wonders for his teeth. Hard to believe those are 40 year old teeth.
I was just thinking, his teeth are insanely nice
Listening the song on repeat. It is really good
That was a crazy ass song! \m/
Holy shit!! This is the Collab i needed
Wow. The vocal melody 👏🏼 that’s how you do it!
So if Periphery's new album is called "Roll of the Dice" then you'll get a credit! Hang on wasn't there a Rush album... Magical stuff Master Xavier.
well tis officially THE BEST SONG I EVER ear in my life
looks like one of the drum grooves is trying to use the missing left bass drum.
That was awesome!
This was amazing
Good job, man.
Amazing.
4 different Phils lmao
Very proud of this joke lmao
Yup. I love it.
Getting some real Mastodon mixed with some Townsend collaboration here
I’m a huge BTBAM fan. How did I miss this until today?
Ok you got me with the 4 different Phil'sXD
Legend 🙌
So good
god damn is this good
Bravo!!!
Man in the box.
Tommyyyyyy ❤️
Well that was badass
Please get Keith Buckley on one of these
Trey: this first part is gonna be in 7/8
Me: oh so the Selkies intro then
YES!!!! 🙌
I'm sorry ft. WHO?!! Instant click. Love me some Tommy/BTBAM
Nice Dusty and Tommy writing a song together ! !
Mixing board games with songwriting! Yay!!!!
Awesome bro cool
This has some serious abr vibes
Trey getting his Musikalisches Würfelspiel on
if I didn't read the title, I'd think this was an Ihsahn track.
So, where can I find this song? Between The Buried And Me is my favorite band ever and Tommy did a fantastic job. I would really like to add this song to my playlist.
This was great.
Wait. That's obviously Jim Carrey.
Yup…that was the shit.
Shoulda let the outro go longer as instrumental and faded it out. Mighta sounded cool, maybe trash. Either way was pretty cool, first time seeing this, and its got tommy rogers.
Me at 15:00
“Holy fuck, this is gonna be so good”
Me at 29:00
“Holy FUCK this is SO GOOD”
this guy looks like a btbam member
Damn I wish I could afford the EZ suite.
You should provide the instrumental track and have some of your viewers write lyrics and sing on the track and submit it for your next contest…
Bro that shit was fuckin epic!! ngl
can you upload this song to spotify and etc
Can you tell us what software you are using? I need better songwriting software. I just use Garageband to get the ideas out.
Fuck yea where to get 5/4 and 7/8 beats? I like odd time signatures
The Progressive Foundry MIDI pack has the ones I used, Metal Fusion also has some I think
@@treyxaviermusic thanks most of my riffs are in odd Time signatures I’m gonna buy it is there a link or a geargods code I could use to help you out?
@@creepymccreepers there sure is: imp.i114863.net/P0456R imp.i114863.net/a12EWY
Thanks dude!
RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman
The guy singing at 28:28. I can hear him sing on a Mastodon song.
His singing voice is like a mix of Troy Sanders and Brann Dailor's singing voice.
I love these videos!! How do you pick grooves? Let’s say you pick 50 in superior drummer I don’t see them numbered like that am I missing something? I’d like to try this when I’m having a writing block
They’re in different orders depending on how you organize them, I just count from the top
@@treyxaviermusic you’re the man!! I’m recording a solo album and drawing a lot of inspiration from your channel was excited when I realized I missed 3 recent videos of writing from random drum grooves
hey! what's the chair you are using!? lol
four different phils... hahahahaha
What if the music dice game made 8-bit Metal?
You accidentally wrote a BTBAM song, no doubt :P
What DAW are you using ?
Why do I even play drums 🤡
That's jim Carrey quit playin
Have you ever considered like NOT using a singer? The world needs more instrumental songs
The first 5 episodes of this series are instrumental
Modern metal sucks big time. BTW, just understanding the structure of songs and recognizing what makes a good song doesn't necessaril make you write good songs, just like understanding the visual compositions and colors of Michelangelo or DaVinci doesn't mean you can make a painting like they did
