Love what Will did here, but personally I like the couple one better, it just stand out of the competition instantly and has it's own personality, instead of being a bit similar to Insta or Pinterest. I love the way they presented those concepts as well.
i like it from a visual standpoint but he is right that it doesnt really convey what the app is, it could be a logo and design for just about anything. But i do see it being a bit too pintresty, if he could takethwe paper clip more from the first one and incorperate it in his overall deign direction that would be the best IMO
Hello Will, Amazing video!! Thank you for the wonderful opportunity. We had a lot of fun throughout the design process and loved to hear your compliments as well as drawbacks.
Hey Will. Great logo! I would like to say that at least for me, it instantly took me to the Instagram logotype. Especially due to the handwritten style, that I think is quite similar, and the fact that both start with "Ins". For some reason the resemblance was too striking for my brain but maybe thats just a me thing. Either way. I love your work! You're a constant inspiration and educational resource for me!
I think your logo was definitely the best out of all of them. I can't un-see the pinterest logo though when ever I look at it. Not necessarily a bad thing, I just think that using that colour and a hand written typeface its impossible to not draw up that connection. The paperclip idea is cool, but until you explained it I couldn't see it. Just saw a backwards P, and actually isn't really legible as an I. Maybe this would look less pinterest-ish with any other colour than red.
Don't mind the color. Love the font with the name. Personally I don't like the icon. If you wanted to have it seem more like the paper clip it should be clipped on the left side. Looking at as it was it just to me seemed like you could not center and there was all the red space that was on the left and I did not like it. Try it on the left if it still looks like yoo much red just center that I and it would work that way. Hope I have not offended but that is my opinion only. Take as you want.
I really like the Sri Lanka couple’s logo they made, while yes it can be interpreted as a little more professional than intended, i would almost say it works even better
I like how clear and minimalistic your logo looks, but I connected it with Pinterest and Instagram logo/type right away. And even though you have used scarlet red in your logo (which I love) I wouldn’t associate it with the word😢. Organising can be associated with “creativity used to solve a mess” 😂, so instead of a paper clip I may try that approach. But, it’s easier to comment than to do it, So I may try to design it too. Amazing work as usual and thank you for all this great videos, they are true inspiration 😊
loved your logo design at the end! but I just want to point out it immediately gave me the vibe of Instagram old logo type mixed with pinterest colors. very neat designs and presentations all around 👌
I thought I wasn't going to like your version from the pixelated thumbnail, but I immediately thought it represents exactly the prompt. I think the icon could have used a little more detail (to also have the i line across like those elastics to keep diaries closed), but it is very recognizable and unique, so that checks all the boxes, you win
I really loved your logo! Something that I've sort-of seen by watching your videos is that being a graphic designer is great, but knowing how to design a typeface is even better, because it adds to the brand and cannot be easily copied. Having a custom font / typeface also means that you can copyright the entire brand identity instead of just visuals.
It's amazing how we talk colour so much and I'm now noticing a lot of companies are dropping colour from their logos altogether and just having blacks, whites & grays
Hey, Will. Your version is a great solution. I can see how people will associate it with Instagram and Pinterest so it doesn't feel strange for them to use it. It's like a fine line between different, yet familiar. I also like option #2 from the couple. The icon just stands out.
The first logo from the Sri Lanka couple is really something else, the process as well as the excusion. Yours with all the respect to the hard work put on it, I think you been heavily biased by Pinterest and you confirmed it on the brief so you went that road without looking back (the P, the color and the avatar ... almost everything), My opiniom, enjoyed the video tho ..
Its a bit older video but i just saw it now. I have to say that i'm really impressed with your design. The couple one is pretty good but somehow i have that feeling that it jumps out of the subject and i cant really understand the icon or logo itself without proper explanation. But yours is sooo much smarter and make more sense on to what brief really is about. I loved how that " i " looks like a paperclip to instantly reminds you of organization and is used for loading in the application. Its so simple yet so beautiful. It does remind me of an old instagram logo but then again design in general exists for decades and its completely normal that whatever you make it will have some similarity to already existing logo. Anyway, your design here is TOP class !
You can really see the difference in the quality from the first one to will's one i love it to be honest i would love to someday be as good in typography as you are ♥️
Heart foundation one text font is my fav, legible and chillaxed. I liked 1st logo, house logo on the navy background which you removed for the final viewing, green sketch logo and your logo. It would take a lot of analysis which is most effective
The only thing I have to say about your logo is that the uppercase "I" looks lighter than the rest of the letters, considering the consistency you mentioned in one of the previous examples.
Your logo is reminding me of Instagram+ Pinterest, somehow it's good because they are some kind of inspirational moodboards. So from my opinion.... Excellent 👌🏽
Always love to see these fiverr comparisons, and finding out what people can really do out there. Really liked the fontography of the first one, and the must more 'fun' color they used. More of a pale wine, than a pastel. The one with the pencil in the P definitely could've been better, since it was a pretty good idea. Unfortunately you logo is a little too close to Instagram. When the brand name also starts with 'Ins-' you would want to avoid using a similar font, because at a glance, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. It's a fun font, to be sure, and the paperclip I is a nice touch, but it still feels like a modification to the Instagram logo. It would be like if your brand name started with 'twi-' and you used a lowercase, blocky font.
Lovely content, personally I like concept 1 of the couple. While your design was pretty good (Keep in mind, this is from a perspective of someone who doesn't really know design and is just giving an opinion as a viewer), I felt like the similarities to pinterest (font, colour and general brand concept etc.) made it difficult to associate it with a fresh and interesting design. I think maybe including a playful logo along with the playful font would elevate it to more than just something that is unique but feels like it draws from pinterest too much. Again, I don't have any design experience or knowledge, so I'm just going off my views as someone who'd be viewing this stuff when using the platform.
This was really interesting to see as another designer, and how someone might critique my work. However, I would really struggle with your 'final' version because it's too close to Pinterest's red. The other thing I struggle with is in the mock brand guide, there isn't another script font anywhere. It feels very disconnected from the logo to have that be in script and literally nothing else be that way. If I were the client, I would probably choose one of the designs from the third Fiverr designer - although their multicolor one was too reminiscent of Microsoft.
Thank you for keeping this channel going. I just recently got into this type of content and most other similar channels all seem to have given up around the same time a couple years ago. When you'd think they'd have more free time than ever due to lock downs.
I agree with everything you said. In my opinion I didn't like any of the ones you charged for. They don't fit the vibe of the brief at all to corporate with the sans serifs and minimalism
someone probably already said this but: despite bearing a resemblance to the previous pinterest logo, I genuinely appreciate your design. I understand that clients sometimes may request logos that resemble those of their competitors. personally, I would have opted for a different hue to avoid the similarity. however, I must commend you on your creative approach in designing the icon as a paper clip on the corner, rather than simply using the letter "I" in the center, which would have been a more obvious choice. additionally, I enjoy watching your logo critiques as they assist me in making more informed decisions for my own projects.
Thanks! Yeah it looks Pinterestish and Instagrammy. Changing colour would’ve made it look like something else. Glad you see the work behind it though :)
@@willpatersondesign yeah! you clearly know what you're doing! i struggled a lot before i found your channel 'cause even tho i work as a creative, my bg is in advertising so i was missing out on a lot of stuff, your perspective on kerning and type design completely changed my workflow :) i'm too shy to post on reddit tho, thanks for that xo
Great icon Will! the logo type looks good but it's very similar to the Instagram logo type. also I feel like the paperclip isn't recognizable enough. Great video as always!
When Olivia's presentations came in, it made me feel like a kid in a candy shop 😂 such a pretty presentation. Although (and I say this with no bias) I prefer your logo, Will. The moment I saw the logo with "Life Organised" and the scribbled lines, I knew exactly what I was looking at. It's much more clear and it presents itself without the need of explanation. Attention is really short these days and clarity and simplicity is very important.
I'm in the middle of designing identity for a financial services company, and l just learned a technique l missed out so l'm going to make corrections. Thank you Will for this tutorial
Yours hit the mark with the brief square on. I can see the target market warming to yours and being more neutral toward the others. Really interesting video. Impressive... 👍
First one: Nah, boring Second: Lame ...... Second Last: Mmmm this looks good. BOOM Then comes Will's marvelous logo. Hats off to you sir. You are the best even if you compete the whole world. I've always wanted to learn that beautiful handqriting skills of yours. Do you know a source or platform from where I could learn it so that I could also apply this in my design work.😊
I'd have put a slight kink/bend into your paperclip I as it seems a wee bit thinner than the other letters to me. Might just be a visual issue because it's straight and the others have a slight curving. I liked the multicoloured version from the designer that did 3, but I agree with you that it's maybe to corporate/professional for the intended brief. Love seeing these videos. Format is excellent.
You mentioned the 1st one used a pastel, so why didn't you mention that the 2nd one used a pastel? Also, on Thomas' 2nd design (red w/the hearts), what's "peaceful" about that? The color is very aggressive.
I would change the colour of your logo from red to something else (purple maybe?), to differentciate from Pintrest. A big note on the 2nd designer that you've missed is the kerning. It was the same exact space between the letters, when it needed to compensate optically.
I'll be brutally honest when I say that I immediately thought of instagram when I saw your logo. If it started with a different letter it probably could of gotten away with not being too similar to instagram, but to use a very similar font with the most popular app in the world gives it the look and feeling of a knockoff or copy, which cheapens the feel. Things need to be authentic to have a sense of value, think of Coca-Cola (which is hard to do in a world full of great logo designs). I enjoyed the video though, thanks!
I like your logo the most, by far. BUT. The colour is essentially Pinterest to me, not sure this works based on differentiating Inspiro from the competition. It looks great but the differentiation seems lacking. The app icon is also SLIGHTLY similar/familiar to Pinterest?
Ngl I like the fist logo the best, its simple, recognizable, its a paperclip for organizing, i see an I and N in the logo. Which i like. Dont know anything bout design but as an outsider the first one would be my pick
ROTRING BROTHERHOOOOOOOD!! UNIIIIITE!! Yes Will! You know quality! Been with their precision drawing equipment since high school (OK, that's 30 years ago!) Love it 😃😃😃👍 P.S. - Rotring is a timeless drawing masterpiece
Fun video with meaningful insights. One semantic observation: comparing professional work to fiverr work implies the fiverr designers aren’t professionals. In many cases fiverr work is a side hustle for design pros who work full time in agencies and in-house creative teams. Not a huge deal unless you’re one of those folks who thinks if themselves as a professional.
I'm not saying the designers on the platform aren't professionals, it's more of a search term for UA-cam's sake really, no shade intended :) There are some excellent people on platforms like Fiverr, who like you say are themselves professionals or do it as a side hustle or even full time :)
I liked design 6 the most if they made some tweaks to the font which you mentioned. I did like your logo in parts but I wasn't the biggest fan of the first I and R. I like the idea with the I, I think some of the spacing needs changing because it looks too similar to a G. I keep seeing the word Gin at the start. For the R, if you didn't tell me it was an R I would've never gotten it. I would've thought it was a t or some other letter. I would definitely change the R to something more readable because without being told and especially at a glance I wouldn't have any idea what the name is. I keep reading Inspito... well if I'm not being careful it can look like Ginspito. Even if I told it was an R, I'd still probably think, Inspirio. I think it could be changed to a more recognisable R which feeds into the O at the end.
Hello Will Really love your design, but I thought the logo was meant to standout from others but yours looks similar to the pinterest logo, but the 3rd fiverr guys were able to achieve that difference. So how to you make up for that.
I could change the colour, and do some modifications. However, having a similar type style to Pinterest isn’t a negative. The colour is what really gives it the Pinterest feel :)
The icon is great very smart. Not very recognizable that there is a paperclip on its own but i dont mind that i like the realization. The logo is definitely the best one I just feel like people "who might use the app" will definitely see that there is too much inspiration taken from Pinterest and Instagram especially with the backwards P in Pinterest and basically a very similar I to that of Instagram. Nonetheless I would have chosen yours as a client maybe just changed the color.
nice work over all but i rly have comment only on your work. i LOVE your ICON it is flawless! but my OCD screaming of just looking at first letter "I" and "p" down and not in line same as second "i" and "r" up. maybe it is intentional but it eaching me so much!
"They keep getting better. It's strange..." was your comment about the different concepts and when they're presented (1st, 2nd, etc.) Would you have presented your better concepts upfront? It's been said around the self-taught community that the better concepts (to the designer's eyes) should be presented last, ranking up visual interest when demonstrating work to clients.

BUT. The colour is essentially Pinterest to me, not sure this works based on differentiating Inspiro from the competition. It looks great but the differentiation seems lacking.
The app icon is also SLIGHTLY similar/familiar to Pinterest?
Great experiment! It's good to check in and see what other people within your niche can do!
Love watching these. I want to be part of one of these vs challenges!
bless this man's editor
You are doing well brother as always 🤩🥰, Love you from Bangladesh.
Ngl I like the fist logo the best, its simple, recognizable, its a paperclip for organizing, i see an I and N in the logo. Which i like. Dont know anything bout design but as an outsider the first one would be my pick
Your App icon is really unique, and I liked that one the best. Logo type is good too, but I feel likes a bit hard to recognize the “I”
As much as I love Will, it was a blattant copy of pinterest logo, nicely done though 👍
And copy of Instagram especialy the "I". Expected something more original from him.
I'm not saying the designers on the platform aren't professionals, it's more of a search term for UA-cam's sake really, no shade intended :) There are some excellent people on platforms like Fiverr, who like you say are themselves professionals or do it as a side hustle or even full time :)
your app icon is amazing
Hello Will
Really love your design, but I thought the logo was meant to standout from others but yours looks similar to the pinterest logo, but the 3rd fiverr guys were able to achieve that difference.
The logo is definitely the best one
I just feel like people "who might use the app" will definitely see that there is too much inspiration taken from Pinterest and Instagram especially with the backwards P in Pinterest and basically a very similar I to that of Instagram. Nonetheless I would have chosen yours as a client maybe just changed the color.
I wanted to see your full presentation, can't seem to find the link.
Your logo is a lot better than the others. 👌
nice work over all but i rly have comment only on your work. i LOVE your ICON it is flawless! but my OCD screaming of just looking at first letter "I" and "p" down and not in line same as second "i" and "r" up. maybe it is intentional but it eaching me so much!
The fifth logo design kinda reminds me of the German "Funk" logo
You're always in the look out for WHAT now?! 😂
"They keep getting better. It's strange..." was your comment about the different concepts and when they're presented (1st, 2nd, etc.)
Would you have presented your better concepts upfront?
It's been said around the self-taught community that the better concepts (to the designer's eyes) should be presented last, ranking up visual interest when demonstrating work to clients.
My favorite is the app icon. truly amazing concept
