G’day Shane… there’s a split ring that joins the eye of the jighead with the treble stinger mate. Just gotta make sure everything still moved as freely as possible so I carry all different sizes of split rings to match jigheads & trebles. 🎣
Works well but it has its limits. If you have a strong cross current for example it can turn the plating on its side. Just gotta do a little trial & error mate 🎣
It's funny, during low light and through the night I've had lot's of success on poppers and fizzer with real long pauses, like 5 seconds or longer. I don't disagree with you at all for this type of surface fishing you're doing here. I haven't done much frogging at all, but it makes sense what you're saying.
Mate I’m with you… like a lot of others I put all topwater into the low light ‘box’ until a few years back. So last year I set myself a goal of 100 Barra & 100 jacks to topwater and achieved it in under 9 months. Learnt a hell of a lot including that topwater could be used at anytime of the day and in any type of light. And absolutely… with a different type of lure I’d use different retrieves. With the crossfires (bent minnow style) I’ll pause for up to a 20 count to get them to react… might have to do a video on that 🤔😁. Thanks for the comment… appreciate it… 🎣😎
@@eggbenedict-gt7mw yer mate it can be annoying… I try to use surface or very slow floating minnows so that I can get them to rise up and over structure… when I see it anyway. 🎣
