- Russian forces are continuing their slow advance in the east of Ukraine, but they’re facing several counter attacks by Ukrainian forces.
Some of the long-range artillery pieces sent to Kyiv have also reached the Ukrainian front line as Russia continues to try and encircle the city of Severodonetsk.

Russia is basically fighting over the same territory as 2014. They don't have the resources to hold their gains though. The biggest problem is that Russia is more interested in destroying things as opposed to actual gains.

Russians never entered Ukraine war before 2022. They did what NATO is doing now. Also, slow progress is fine when you are defeating the enemy in detail.

@@peabase Sure... but that's the middle of winter ... in Finland. Hot nutritious food is going to be a decisive in Ukraine. In more normal conditions, an army can fight on rations packs for months and without any food at all for a few days at least.

The UK did. We trained over 20,000 Ukranian soldiers to a very high standard. We have been providing military assistance since 2014. Germany and the other European country's on the other hand 👎

@@matthems1786 Germany and France did get involved earlier. They were supplying Russia with "bombs, rockets, torpedoes, missiles, explosive charges, imaging equipment, aircraft" according to their manifests. One specific item I think was 1000 thermal cameras for Russian T72 tanks.

NATO does not care about the Ukrainian die, time to wake up.
Ukraine most probably is getting very good intel. But even without US satellites you can understand situation. Forces in Severodonetsk and Lysychansk will be encircled. Why? Because military and political considerations differ. And the final word has the president, i.e. politician. If this was purely military matter, Ukraine would have retreated 15 days ago behind the river and wait for Russians. It would be very costly for Russia. But it won't happen now.
As for as counteroffensive, I wouldn't put my money on it. Ukraine is making big losses to Russia because Ukrainian troops are in very well prepared fortified positions. Making offensive requires getting out and being exposed.

There are two main Ukrainian brigades facing off against the entire combat power remaining in the Russian army. The 53rd Mechanized Brigade is holding the line at Severodonetsk, their headquarters are in the city. The Russians have moved behind them to the west with the advance out of Popasna. The goal on paper is to encircle Severodonetsk and destroy the 53rd Mechanized Brigade.
However the Ukrainians have a second full strength brigade, the 54th Mechanized Brigade, headquartered at Bakhmut. They have a rapid response force, over 200 tanks in inventory, and at least one artillery battalion that has upgraded to M198 155mm towed howitzers. They have the full support of the local territorial defense brigade and volunteer citizens. They have effective transportation, logistics and rations; front line troops in Severodonetsk are getting kitchen cooked meals delivered warm into their positions.
Where are you getting this information?... Seems a little too detailed. Not to mention, if you were able to obtain this 'accurate' information, why would you feel the need to disclose it publicly? I mean, do you not think Russia has people all over the world deciphering any information they can obtain or are you looking for a cookie with extra sprinkles?

In all honesty, Ukraine's full integration of target spotting, reporting, forwarding to FDC for fire mission calculations, and issuing fire missions out in that crazy software package they have should be a full blown revolution in military affairs in itself. The level of dispersion and precision they can maintain, alongside really fast turnarounds on fire missions (I'm talking minutes, as opposed to close to an hour) gives the Infantry a huge amount of firepower up front that historically took a long time to bear. It's insane how much of a difference it's making.
I think your talking seconds rather than minutes versus hours. I don't recall too many Fire missions (non-air) that required hours...
Yes, providing the long range artillery is being used as it should be and not for local actions. To beat Russia concentrated fire at crucial points eg advances along open roads,, is needed. I'm not sure that Ukraine has grasped the big picture, defending every town and village is not part of that.

@@FairladyS130 As a non-military type of person, I don't think that is what the UA are doing. They are frustrating the enemy, holding ground as long as they can while inflicting max damage. Then backing off as necessary. Suspect though, they also are trying to convince resistant civilians [mostly elderly] that they need to evac. Must be difficult to deal with people who, for whatever reasons, are refusing to go to safety. Despite this they're doing a great job, and need much more equipment to stop the invaders! [From a non military armchair general on the other side of the world ;)]

the S400 and S500 missile defence systems will be able to detect the drones and shoot them out the sky. You will need laser guided bombs dropped from further than the detection range to take them out however, they will have to be set up closer to the missiles and the S400 and 500 is also installed with laser warning receivers which will alert them if they're being tracked.

Combining the Soviet artillery doctrine with the modern Western systems should be pretty devastating unless you have even more range. Let's hope Ukraine gets more modern systems asap.
They already have them. All the inventory Russia has is being dumped on Donbass. They are using the Mariupol tactic of just obliterate everything, but that will take millions of bombs. They cannot ever take large cities, just hamlets of a couple dozen homes.
That won't help Ukraine. Even against America, Russia can still out-gun them. This is a type of war America hasn't faced since maybe even before Vietnam.
M777 Howitzer is inferior to the Russian 203mm Pion artilllary and it uses different shells to the exisiting Ukrainian guns so it's going to be more of a hindrence than a help in the small numbers they are getting.
If NATO sent them 500 guns with about 1 million shells , 200 Patriot Missile batteries, 500 Bradley Fighting vehicles, 100 Abrams tanks, 100 F-16 fighters, 200 Apache Helicopters and 100 tonnes of missiles, bombs and bullets it might make a difference, anything less isn't a drop in the bucket really.
It will just get destroyed the same as the other 1500+ pieces of Ukrainian artillary lost alreay to airstrikes/helicopters and missiles.
This is where it all heads south, Ukrainian military was equiped with Russian weapons that they can no longer obtain and the random pieces of second hand rubbish NATO is sending them is a joke.

A tactical retreat would allow Russia to fill the entire area between Severodonetsk and Luhansk with 20,000 troops and all their equipment. At that point, with the river at their backs, they will be fish in a barrel for a battering of Ukrainian artillery and millies.

Cuz If anything, IF the US really wanted to resolve the crisis in Ukraine, the US would break up with NATO forever. In 1991, when the USSR collapsed, the Russians dissolved the Warsaw Pact. However, NATO was not dissolved. It was the opposite. NATO grew in power, in territorial extension and in the number of allied countries. In this war Mr. Putin is DEFENDING his homeland. Mr. Putin is fighting today against only ONE Country (Ukraine), cuz if he doesn't fight Ukraine today, then tomorrow he will have to fight against 30 countries that make up NATO. At the end of WWII, NATO had 8 allied countries. During the height of the Cold War, NATO already had 14 countries in total. Today, when the USSR and Communism no longer exists, there are 30. Mr. Zelensky was a television Comedian who won the Presidency of Ukraine thanks to Mr. Petro Poroshenko (this one of great academic and political merit), who was ridiculed for the Parodies that Mr. Zelensky made on TV. And why didn't Mr. Poroshenko stop these taunts and slanders against him? Answer: Cuz Mr. Poroshenko did not want to "Affect" the Freedom of Expression in Ukraine, and cuz Mr. Poroshenko never thought that a Comedian without experience and without political stature (without political or physical stature), could beat him in a vote. Already as President, Mr. Zelensky dazzled him by the proposals of the International Monetary Fund (Headquarters in Washington, DC), in which he would be filled with money if he agreed to join NATO, it was easy for him to challenge the power of Russia. To take into account each other's interests (US-Europe/Russia). All in vain. The NATO/US countries did not want to hear us, which means that in fact they had completely different plans from the beginning… And we saw it”.
If you spread 122, 155 mm M777 Howitzers around in Great Britain, you could then hit any target in Great Britain. That is a lot of fire power to concentrate in the areas they need to focus on to defend Donbas. Especially if you have a 5 to 10 kilometer range advantage, not including the extended range ammunition like the Excalibur rounds Canada provided, with a 30 Kilometer range with a 1-5 meter accuracy.
If Russia conducts a war like NATO with America, killing everything in its path (Vietnam, Korea, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc.).... the war will end in 5 days, In Ukraine, there will be what America and Nato have done to the countries where they have established their "democracy"

You are hugely underestimating the scale of the war in Ukraine. Our troops reporting that ratio of fired shells is 50 to 1 in russia's favor
This is real war and we suffer casualties. We may lose one or another howitzer in one day so after three months there may be all 90 of them destroyed. Artillery are very vulnerable to jets and russia have advantage in the air. So better 300-500 in a one package than the same amount per years of conflict.

Events on the battlefields of Ukraine over the last month show that Russia is quite clearly winning the war. Although you would not know this, from any articles or news broadcasts in the Western media. Since late February, the collective Western media has engaged in a quite deliberate misinformation campaign whose central narrative is that Russia has suffered huge casualties in men and materials while suffering numerous defeats at the hands of the Ukrainian forces. That is some defeat when Russia and DPR/LPR forces control over 20% of Ukraine’s territory.
This misinformation campaign asserts that Russia failed in its attempt to capture Kiev and Kharkov during the early stages of the current war. Of course, anyone with an elementary knowledge of military strategy would know that the Russian forces which occupied the suburbs of Kiev and Kharkov, were merely there to hold down large numbers of Ukrainian troops and prevent them from reinforcing their front lines in the Donbass region. As the Western media focused on Russia’s ‘failed’ attempts to capture these cities the bulk of the Russian war effort was focused on liberating the Donetsk and Lugansk regions from Ukrainian control.
Events over the last month from the surrender of the Ukrainian garrison at Azovstal in Mariupol to the Russian successes in taking cities such as Lyman and Popasna reveal how the Russian military campaign is progressing according to plan.
If they are trying Azov fighters for war crimes, what war are they fighting when they keep saying it is a special military operation not a war?

The amount of captured vehicles isn't that big compared to what the media says. Moreover most of them needs lots of maintenance to operate and most fail to restart. At most, they can use and left over munitions inside them if they aren't already spend or destroyed.

Потом помимо того что бросают, еще один склад с оружием и боеприпасами. А так с особой периодичностью на украинских позициях находят и ящики с боеприпасами, и вооружение. Так что вот не надо говорить что они тубусы находят.

One of the first things Ukraine did after Crimea was seized was to cut off the water supply to Crimea. This was a ecological disaster for Crimea. The first thing the Russians did when their invasion force entered from Crimea was to restore this water supply. But for 8 years Crimea was starving for fresh water.
Crimea has been under Russian occupation since 2014. Independent reporting of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and demonstrating against the Russian invasion of Ukraine are criminal offenses with penalties of up to 15 years in jail.

I know it would be expensive but I think the US should make an offer to Eastern European NATO states to give them one US Abrams tank for every T-72 tank they have, these ex-Soviet tanks then can be sent to Ukraine. There are probably still hundreds of T-72 tanks in Eastern Europe that could be sent to Ukraine to help them out (many of these T-72 tanks have been upgraded over the years too).

Chief and the generals of the armed services) are the only ones who know all the information. They are the ones who know the objectives, the atmosphere among military leaders, the tactics they will use to achieve those objectives. That information is only partially relayed to troops. The point being that only the Russian Generals know fully what the conditions are on their side.

Events on the battlefields of Ukraine over the last month show that Russia is quite clearly winning the war. Although you would not know this, from any articles or news broadcasts in the Western media. Since late February, the collective Western media has engaged in a quite deliberate misinformation campaign whose central narrative is that Russia has suffered huge casualties in men and materials while suffering numerous defeats at the hands of the Ukrainian forces. That is some defeat when Russia and DPR/LPR forces control over 20% of Ukraine’s territory.
This misinformation campaign asserts that Russia failed in its attempt to capture Kiev and Kharkov during the early stages of the current war. Of course, anyone with an elementary knowledge of military strategy would know that the Russian forces which occupied the suburbs of Kiev and Kharkov, were merely there to hold down large numbers of Ukrainian troops and prevent them from reinforcing their front lines in the Donbass region. As the Western media focused on Russia’s ‘failed’ attempts to capture these cities the bulk of the Russian war effort was focused on liberating the Donetsk and Lugansk regions from Ukrainian control.
Events over the last month from the surrender of the Ukrainian garrison at Azovstal in Mariupol to the Russian successes in taking cities such as Lyman and Popasna reveal how the Russian military campaign is progressing according to plan.

But he also said how exposed their army is and how it would collapse with counterattack especially with more western artillery. He also talks about how the Ukrainians are using the few western artillery systems they have much more effectively than expected (which is probably supported by the countless drone coordinated hits we’ve seen on many videos on UA-cam).

One several channels I saw that a number of captured Ukrainians in Mariopol had tattoos with Swastika's, one had a portrait of Hitler tattooed on his arm and apparently their actions against primarily Russian speaking Ukrainians are known and documented. I am very skeptical of information coming from Russian and Ukrainian sources. Especially the latter have a very good misinformation campaign going on.

What's very telling is that the Russians are now using t62 tanks which first came out in 1962 making them 60 years old. the Russians are expanding their last shreds of strength to try and capture the Don Bass which will leave them completely open to counter-attack.

There are many Russians but those Russians do not necessarily want to be part of the many casualties that this approach involves. Putin may be willing to "fight until the last Russian soldier is dead" but the last Russian soldier has not shown that to be the case.
