    Hi, Andrew! Someone just made the chef part of your life MUCH easier! Thanks to whoever gifted this sharpener to Andrew! Happy butchering!

    I have the first generation sharpener and it works great. Just be careful on the kitchen knives as it removes a lot of steel and could change the profile, don't ask me how I know. I love using the coarse belt on my machetes, hatchets and axe. All I do is remove the angle guide attachment and free hand the grinding on the axe or hatchets and it does a phenomenal job.

    A buddy of mine has one of those at work, and he’ll bring it in occasionally and sharpen everybody’s pocket knives. I had a buck knife that I had carried for years that was dull and bent up. He was able to take it and turn it into a very sharp knife. Those sharpeners are very good at making, a dull knife extremely sharp. I’m sure you’ll enjoy sharpening your knives with it.

    Nice sharpener tool Andrew. Happy birthday as well

    Those work great! The more you use it, the more you'll get a feel, and the quicker it goes. The extra fine belt does stropping but the rod definitely helps straighten out and clean up those fine burs. You'll never go back to another sharpener now!

    love my work sharp, i got the grinder attachment for it too does a great job and the belts last longer than i would expect, cheap aftermarket leather belts available for it to use it as a power strop too

      I've been wanting one for years, no idea why I didn't buy one. With all the knives me and my wife use it just makes sense.

    I have a Work Sharp Precision Adjust Elite (the plastic one, not the "Professional") and I love it. Positive: I believe it does an even better job of finishing the edge, it's wicked; negative: it's not appropriate for things like axes and hatchets or other "not an actual knife" implements of destruction.

    • @TheKelleysReviews
      @TheKelleysReviews  7 місяців тому

      I agree with you, they make a lot of claims of what it can sharpen. I'm sticking to the knives for it.

    I had one of these for years and I love it! The first knife I ever sharpened with it could shave the ink off of a news paper!
    Edit: for some reason I have never replicated that but they are all shaving sharp
    Edit: mine was the basic model no where near as nice

    They work very well. Many clients claimed it was the sharpest their knives have ever been. Like butter threw deer hide.

    There’s an accessory for this (Work Sharp WSSAKO81112 Blade Grinder Attachment for Ken Onion Edition Knife and Tool Sharpener) you might also like that makes it more of a typical pro knife belt style sharpener.

    I like how easy it is to change the belts. I thought you would have to unscrew something but nope that is nice.
    How much wear on the belts did you notice after that little bit of use

    • @TheKelleysReviews
      @TheKelleysReviews  7 місяців тому

      Not sure, seen discoloration, but can't tell any belt wear. Some comments say belts last a long time.

    I had one of these and used it for about 7 years. Last year the drive gear broke and now it sits in the box. Not sure how to fix it, maybe a plastic mold or repair kit? When it was running it was my first "go-to" sharpener in my sharpening kit. Now I am back to the old method.

    Anything to sharpen serrated knives?

    • @TheKelleysReviews
      @TheKelleysReviews  7 місяців тому +1

      This one does as well, I meant to mention that. You sharpen the smooth single side only for serrated knives.

    • @MTNmyMAG
      @MTNmyMAG 7 місяців тому

      @@TheKelleysReviews I’ll have to check it out I have a Dexter- Dextreme fillet knife that the back side of the edge is serrated. On grouper and large snappers I utilize the whole fish, we make smoked fish dip from the collars and heads , the serrated portion makes removing those easier.

    Kind of aggressive, might accelerate knife wear significantly.... :-) (long term) Probably best as a "get a dull knife sharp" not a "keep a knife sharp" machine.

    A German steel flat stone works better. No huge machine to mess with and no huge bill to buy more Chinese junk. [ Yes, read the item description, ASSEMBLED from Chinese parts NOT American made]. Sorry, I will take my stone which I have had for years and can slip in my pocket. Much cheaper, portable, and will definitely outlast this thing you are pushing.

    • @TheKelleysReviews
      @TheKelleysReviews  7 місяців тому +1

      Good for you. I love the irony in your response GERMAN steel and then proceed to tell me I am pushing something non American. You are too apparently, wow.

      We get it - this is not for you. Keep enjoying your whetstone where you have to presoak multiple stones as well as even buy a truing stone and make sure those stones are level. Meanwhile someone with this machine can pull it out and sharpen a knife in a few minutes and be done while you are playing with your stones. Btw, your comment helps the channel so I'm sure he appreciates your support.
